3 Things: School Edition

It's pretty amazing that half of the school year has already flown by! The girls are learning so much this year, and I'm so proud of all their hard work every day!

We finally got our school pictures back a few weeks ago (it took longer than normal because we ALL had to have retakes.) And I thought it would be fun to share a 3 Things "School" edition.

Gretchen
1. Gretchen is in the 4th grade and is loving school! Every day she has a different chapter book that she's reading. She flies through them.
2. She is in the gifted program at school, and she loves her time of extra activities! This year they chose a state, and researched the land and climate, made a diorama of their dream backyard, and gotten on the computers to research and make charts and graphs.
3. She's currently studying explorers, and has researched Ponce De Leon, and did a presentation on him. She's obsessed with history, and loved this class project!

Megan
1. Megan has mastered all of her 1st grade sight words! She's currently working her way through her 2nd grade sight words, and is reading little books.
2. She started spelling test a few weeks ago and is doing great!
3. Her 1st grade teacher does lots of fun projects with them. They made a witch for Halloween, celebrated the 50th day of school, had a pie tasting for Thanksgiving, and they'll be going to a nursing home and taking little presents and singing Christmas songs.

Adalyn.
1. Always the mischievous one! A few weeks ago, she colored all over her face, arms, and legs during nap time with a marker she found. Her teachers have moved her nap spot, and she's now torn apart her nap mat.
2. She's super social. She has a ton of friends and talks about them all and knows who their teacher is.
3. Her handwriting is improving and she can spell her name. She loves writing her name on everything she does.

Me.
1. Yup, I have school pictures too. And I never know what to do with them, so I just leave them in the drawer or give one to my mom just for the fun of it!
2. My speech kids and I have been doing some fun activities! We made a candy corn craft and described it, and we made a placemat for Thanksgiving with speech words or I had the kids write down what they were thankful for.
3. I'm in the midst of testing students, completing screenings, and doing paperwork. It's a never ending job, and I usually always have a huge stack of files on my desk.

So, that's a little bit of our school days and what's going on! We're super excited about the winter parties this month, polar express days, and ugly Christmas sweater days!

Family Pictures & Weekend Fun

Last Friday, we had family pictures! It's been about a year and a half since we had family pictures made, and I wasn't planning on having them made until sometime next year, but one of the teachers at our school is beginning her photography business, and I realized we needed a good picture for our Christmas card! So, I booked a quick photo shoot with her, and we met in our little downtown!
I went on Pinterest for some outfit inspiration, and decided to go with a neutral color palette. We ended up throwing in some pink, well, because #girlmom.

Gretchen wore a cream sweater dress and a pink plaid scarf from Gap. (I couldn't find the scarf online.), and her booties
Adalyn wore a cream lace skirt, a pink ribbed top (which I can't find either, but it's from Gap as well), and her booties
And since Megan is more comfortable in jeans, I picked her up a sweater to wear, with her leopard flats.
While big sis was getting her picture taken, the little girls were acting all sorts of crazy waiting for their turn!
Later that night, we managed to get two sneak peeks from our photographer and I'm already amazed at what she was able to capture.
Plus this one, which I'm thinking needs to be put on a canvas and placed in Megan's room, because this is 100% her!
After we had pictures, we headed to Andolini's for pizza!
If you're ever in the Tulsa area, it's a must-eat!
And after pizza, we had gellato at a new shop in our downtown.
\
The rest of our weekend was spent cleaning and organizing. Doing laundry, watching the Emoji movie, and was pretty low key.
We went to church on Sunday, and took our weekly John Wesley photo!

STEAM Night & Veteran's Day!

We're halfway through November, and I'm just gawking at how fast time is flying by! I was hoping that we would be able to slow down in November, but we're full steam ahead and I feel like I'm always playing catch up and trying to multi-task, but that's pretty typical for us during Football season, and we're counting down that we only have two games left and our season is done!
Every Sunday, we have our John Wesley picture taken! It cracks me up but the girls insist. I'm sure we get some strange looks from our fellow church goers as they're leaving.
I shared this diffuser combination on my Instastories, and it's still my Fall favorite! I've been diffusing this non stop! You'd never miss a burning candle at my house, when I have this in the diffuser.
I say it all the time, but having the girls at school with me is a favorite. I have kindergarten and 1st grade recess duty, so I always see Megan on the playground. She'll come sit with me when she's freezing cold, or even when she has her feelings hurt. But, on this day, it was freezing, so she bundled up next to me. And yes, that's a bull horn, because it's better than straining your voice :/
Last week, we received a letter from my niece who is serving in the Navy and is stationed in Hawaii #luckygirl. The girls loved getting their letter and a few pictures!
We had STEAM night at our elementary school last week. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. The PTA organized the event, and it was wonderful!
There was a photo booth.

And face painting.
And little electronic robots, math games, painting, and more! The kids had tons of fun and Gretchen was begging the PTA members to put on another STEAM night before we left!
Also, hair critters are making their way around school again. I shared this last week too on Instagram, but it's my favorite little trick from keeping our hair bug free! You can check out this post for more tips and how we dealt with hair bugs previously. (And thankfully, we haven't had to deal with them again.)
Last week, Megan insisted on eating lunch with me. So, she came to my office and ate while I did some work.
We celebrated Veteran's Day at school last week. We're so thankful for DJ's dad who served in the airforce!
And my niece, who's currently serving!!!

Thank you to our Veteran's, our active duty, and their families!!!! We so love and appreciate all you do for our country!

Pictures..... Pictures... & More Pictures

I have just lots of pictures to share today :)
The Sunday before Halloween, the little girls wore their Jelly the Pug Halloween dresses to church and had to take their picture with John Wesley afterwards! Except, this week, they didn't cooperate very well! Ha!
We absolutely love the Jelly the Pug brand! It reminds me of Matilda Jane, but the price tag is a bit friendlier when dressing three girls! And, we find it on Zulily a ton! Check out this dress for Christmas!
After church, the girls played dress up, and Elsa took a nap.
And then we headed to football for our Sunday night family dinner.
On Mondays we have speech therapy, and I try my best to keep the girls entertained. Honestly, they're ready to play, and they're all over the place, but it's also a waiting room, and we need to do our best to stay still and quite. So, the iPad often comes to the rescue.
I made DJ's video student's Monster cookies for Halloween. You can find the recipe on Momfessionals blog.
The girls celebrated their 50th day of school with a sock hop last Thursday. Poodle skirts, root beer floats, and dancing for the win!

After school on Thursday, we went to the gym, and then I took the girls to have ice cream for dinner. It was warm, they had cleaned the house and were so helpful on Sunday, and DJ was at football meetings. So, ice cream for dinner was the perfect treat! I had a protein shake from the gym :)
Friday was Bedlam day at school. In Oklahoma, Bedlam is when OU and OSU play each other. It's a huge rivalry game. Our teachers lounge was decorated, we had a potluck, and TU had a game Friday night. So, we did what any football family would do. We dressed in Blue and supported our own team!
Reign Cane!
After school, we ran a quick errand, came home to put on some layers, and headed to football! Addy was happy to see her big cousin Max!
And look who we spotted on the field!

Just, DJ doing his job :)
And Saturday, we slept late, the girls played, I ran some errands sans kiddos, and then I came home to watch football with DJ. Addy Pearl crawled up and fell asleep! Nap time snuggles are the best!

Trick or Treat!

So, Halloween feels like it was forever ago. Yes. Already. But, we had fun, and I wanted to make sure I got our pictures up on the blog.

Last Monday, Megan was complaining because our pumpkin carving attempt a few weeks ago had failed. We had bought our pumpkins, set them outside, and then a huge rainstorm came through and two of our pumpkins rotted. So, we were only to carve one pumpkin. And in Megan's little mind, she didn't get to carve her pumpkin, and she begged, and begged, and begged. But we were so busy. Finally on Monday, I knew that even though our calendar was swamped, we needed to come through and pick up two more pumpkins so Megan and Gretchen could carve theirs. I went to stores, and came up empty handed, but DJ skipped his Monday night radio show and came to the rescue with two new pumpkins!
So after dinner, they set to work carving pumpkins.
And all was happy in our home again :)

Of course by this time, Addy's little pumpkin had wilted, so it was looking less than steller compared to our two new pumpkins!
We always let the girls draw the faces, and then DJ cuts them out.
On Halloween night, I picked up a jack-o-lantern pizza from Papa Murphys and invited our neighbors over for dinner!
We curled Gretchen's hair for her costume, and then after dinner we were off.
Skye and Captain America were ready for trick-or-treating!
I love that we're at the age, where our kiddos can go and run, but that we're still close by :)

Megan went as Mal.
And, our little Skye :) She loved her costume so much and told us we needed to just call her Skye from now on!
And Belle.

Unfortunately it was cold on Halloween night, so we had to break out layers and coats.
Happy Halloween from our girls!
