5 on Friday: St. Patrick's Day Celebrations!

I only recently began to enjoy St. Patrick's Day! Probably, when we moved to Oklahoma and it was warm enough for us to be outside, and celebrate! The last few years, St. Patrick's Day has fallen over our Spring Break, and we've tried to have a few fun activities for the girls.

One year, we made a leprechaun trap, and while we didn't catch him, he left treats behind for the girls, and last year, we left for Branson that day, but our leprechaun had green yogurt and lucky charms for the girls' breakfast, and then on our road trip, he brought "gold" (dried pineapple) for a snack.

This year, we'll be at DJ's parents, so I'm not really sure what we'll have planned, but I found a few fun ideas on Pinterest and thought i'd share them today for 5 on Friday!
1. I want to start making canvas' every season with the girls! We did them for Christmas, but we haven't made any sense. I think this would be so fun to do with the girls, and we could use just one canvas, and have one of each girls' handprints for a three-leaf clover!
2. Of course, a St. Patrick's day breakfast!

3. I found these Fruity Pebble treats earlier this week and thought they were so cute, and probably super yummy too!
4. St. Patrick's day isn't complete without a festive hair bow
5. And an adorable matching applique shirt

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you all have a great weekend and fun filled St. Patrick's Day!

Playing Catch Up

I discovered a few pictures on my camera card earlier this week, and figured I needed to share them!

We actually left for Branson on St. Patrick's day, but I still wanted to make the day fun for the girls. I decided to fix them an easy breakfast since we were leaving early, and decided upon Lucky Charms, "gold coins" (banana slices), and green colored greek yogurt. The girls loved their breakfast!
I also surprised them with more 'gold' on the drive, by packaging up dried pineapple slices for a snack.

When we came back from Branson, my parents came up. My stepdad trains labrador retrievers for duck hunting, and he had a hunt test about 45 minutes from our house. It worked out perfectly that they could come up for a few days. MC and papa really bonded while he was here:
G actually told my mom that she doesn't understand why papa actually comes because he's never here when he's here! (The last few times they've visited, he's had hunt tests.)

DJ and I also decided that we needed to start with the transitions for MC before baby A arrives in July. Our first step was getting her to sleep in her toddler bed. DJ took the front of her crib off on the Friday of spring break.
The first two nights she did surprisingly well! She layed right down like always and went right to sleep.
But, Sunday and Monday nights and the nights to follow were not fun! It took several nights of her crying and us trying to help (unsuccessfully)  for her to sleep in her bed.
There were several nights where we found her sleeping on the floor behind her bedroom door. G also decided to sleep on her floor one night- but, at least she had pillows and blankets!
When we left for Easter at my mom's this past weekend, MC still wasn't doing well in her big girl bed. I was super nervous coming home, but thankfully she's done great!  We've only had 1-2 minutes of her fussing, and then she's out!

After the first week of bad nights, I later found out that she had two top teeth coming in, and I think that's why she did so great and then so horrible, and now so great again!

Our next obstacle, will be getting rid of her "dee dee" (paci) and i'm not looking forward to those fussy nights!

St. Patty's Weekend

I really did try to narrow down these photos, but we had such a fabulous weekend, it was so hard! We sent the girls to daycare on Friday, and I worked a half day. DJ was off, as the start of his Spring Break. I was suppose to have a dentist appointment that afternoon, but I cancelled it, because I wasn't feeling well. I came home and slept 3 hours and had DJ go get the girls. I then slept another hour while they were eating dinner! Thankfully, I felt better Saturday morning for our St. Patrick's day fun!We made a trap to catch a leprechaun. G made a 4-leaf clover to 'trick' him and we put a pot of 'gold' (popcorn) to help lure him to the trap!

Then, we went outside and enjoyed the sunshine while DJ used his new smoker to smoke brisket!
We took MC outside, because she had been feeling better (although, she now has another cold.)
I think she was happy to enjoy some sunshine and get some natural Vitamin D.
G just played and played. The neighbor behind our house came over, and she played with their 20 month old, and then she explored our wide open back yards. She said she was "queen of the mountain."
And, she played with Bailey.
The girls flew around in the air.

G ran over and had to have her turn.

Then, we got out her trike, while MC took a nap. She rode it about two houses down, decided she was done, and drug it back to the house.
When she's riding and she feels like she's done, she always expects that one of us will take it back for her, but I always tell her that she wanted it, so she has to take care of her toys and put them back where they belong.

Then, we went inside to check on our leprechaun trap.
She was really excited, but then I think G became really scared to think there would be a real leprechaun in there.
But, we didn't catch him! He left goodies for the girls instead. G got a green slinky, a princess cup and "gold" candy (caramel hershey kisses). We let her open one, and it was so cute, because she kissed it before she ate it. She told us that you had to kiss it, since it was called a hershey kiss.
MC received a cup and green puffs.

We had our neighbors over to eat, and MC was screaming during dinner, so I didn't get any pictures. But, we had fruit salad, mac-n-cheese, garlic mashed potatoes, and brisket.

I typically don't like brisket, but it was mouth watering. G even asked for seconds!
After dinner was cleaned up, I put MC to bed and we went outside to start a fire in the fire pit and make smores!
DJ helped G roast her marshmallows.
And of course the neighbor kids joined in with us!
G loved her smores and after we each had one, we ate burnt marshmallows!

On Sunday, we got up and went to church. We almost didn't go, because MC was running a slight fever and was fussing. I decided that we would take her with us into the service since she didn't feel good, especially because the last time we visited that church, she cried the entire time she was in the nursery! MC loves her momma for sure!

G did great in her class, and MC did very well in the service. I was so thankful that this church actually allows kids under 5 in their service. We have actually visited two churches here, that do not allow or prefer kids under 5 in the sanctuary, and I just think that's a shame.
It was warm, so we broke out one of her spring dresses, and i'm glad she was able to still wear it, since it's a 6 month size.
G wore a dress that I purchased at Rhea Lana's consignment sale for a steal. It's a cute navy dress, and it was too long, so I know it'll last her through early fall as well!

After church, we went to eat at Red Robin's.

G played outside some more and met our new neighbor across the street (they're only 2 months apart!) while MC and I took a nap!

It was such a wonderful weekend, and I was so glad that it wasn't going to end, because DJ's off for spring break all week and I'm off most of the week as well!

Go Green- St. Patrick's Day!

Have you spotted a little leprachaun today? Legend has it, that if you catch one he'll give you his pot of gold? I haven't had any luck though, although there are tons of children dressed in green today at school!

Gretchen is wearing her shamrock shirt today with a matching bow, so hopefully she won't be pinched at daycare! I wish I would've gotten a picture of her this morning, but we were late running out of the door- as usual!

We did a little "early" celebrating last evening.
She played with "green" play-doh while I made dinner.

Green beans and green yogurt were on the menu! You could also serve green milk or green applesauce. Last year, I "dyed" her eggs and biscuits green for breakfast!
And, we finished the evening off with a "green" bath, thanks to the Color Wonder Tablets!

Last year, I made Gretchen green eggs and biscuits for St. Patricks day, but I know she would flip over these adorable cookies from TabbyCat13.

After making Gretchen's birthday banner- I've been crazy for them! Check out this banner from CraftySweetheart. It's very reasonablly priced at only $19.99, which is the most reasonable I've found!

The next two items are from the same seller! I love the simplicity of the decor, it would fit into any room in my house! You can check out both of these items at Woods 'n Stiches here. I love how she has items that coordinate together.
