Last Day of School!

Our last day of school was May 30th, and while it was bittersweet, that Kindergarten is over for Gretchen, it's also great to know all of the fun and exciting things that we have ahead of us! I am 100% looking forward to next school year- so long as the summer goes by s-l-o-w!
Gretchen's first day of school!
And her last!

(I have to put in a claimer here, because I really wanted her to wear her first day of school outfit on the last day, but it was Super Kids Day, and the kids had to wear play clothes, and it had been muddy, and there was no way I was putting her in something that would get ruined with mud and dirt, although she really did try to convince me to let her wear a dress! And, i'm glad that I didn't put her in a dress, because the nurse called me around noon, letting me know that her shoe was soaked in mud.)
Megan's First Day of her 2 year old preschool class!
And her last day! (she had just turned 3, about 6 days before)
Adalyn's first day at daycare ever!
And, her last day in her Doodlebug Drive class!
I don't have a picture of the girls together on their first day, mostly because all of them had a different first day this year. Gretchen started in August, Megan started right after Labor Day, and Adalyn started in mid-September.

I just love how much my girls have learned this year! Gretchen is reading on a first grade level, she's doing addition and subtraction, and she knows about money. Megan is singing her ABC's, can identify all of her shapes and knows all of her colors, and she can count to 10. And Adalyn, well, there have been lots of changes with Adalyn this year just growing and developing!

Next year, Gretchen will be at my elementary school, and we'll get to see each other every day! She'll be in first grade, and I've promised her that I'll try to have lunch with her on Fridays! (So long as she thinks it's cool to have lunch with her mom!) Megan and Adalyn will stay at their current preschool. Megan will be in a 3 year old room, and Adalyn will have the same teacher that Meggie had when Meggie was one! I'm really looking forward to next school year, but like I said, this needs to be the slowest, longest summer possible!

#weltegram2014 May 22-28

After today, I have ONE more day of school y'all! ONE MORE DAY!

I can totally do this!

Let's get on with it!
May 22- After the craziness last Wednesday night, I decided to take the afternoon off and go home to catch up on some sewing for my little biz. Then, I picked Gretchen up from the bus, took her to get ice cream, and then we went to Target before heading to get the little girls from daycare.

May 23- My mom, cousin, and niece came for the weekend, and the girls had SO MUCH FUN playing outside with each other! Hann and Gretchen did stunts in the backyard.
May 24- This girl TURNED 3!
May 25- We went to another birthday party. Can't you tell how excited Gretchen is! (I had to wake her because she fell asleep on the couch.)
May 26- Addy Pearl started walking with the stroller!

May 27- After a fiasco at daycare, DJ had to take Megan to work with him. But, at least they had a lunch date at McDonald's!
May 28- This girl was so happy! Usually she's pooped from the long day at daycare, but tonight she was crawling, pulling up on everything, and so happy! It was a rare treat!

Y'all enjoy your day!

Weekend Wrap Up- Mother's Day in iPhone Pics

I hope you all had a marvelous Mother's day weekend!

I started my mother's day celebrations by having Muffins with Mom with Gretchen at her school on Friday morning. I am so thankful that my principals let me have the first hour of the day to spend with Gretchen and I can't wait until she's at school with me next year in order to make these events a little easier on my schedule!
It was fun to take her to school, see her classroom and spend some time with her. She served me a muffin and juice. She also brought herself a muffin….. as she was getting everything for me, one of the muffins fell on the floor and she politely told everyone that she would just eat that one.
Her teacher had the tables decorated and our gifts were set out. Gretchen colored a flower pot, and attached was a little flower magnetic clip with Gretchen's picture, a handmade card, and a handprint flower pot picture with a little fill in questionnaire on the back.

Her class also sang the moms a song.

……………………………………………………………

Friday evening we made homemade enchiladas and cheese dip and Megan enjoyed strawberries!!
After dinner we found that she had gotten herself a bowl, filled it up with strawberries, and we found her hiding eating them!

The girls played outside with our neighbors and I was able to get some embroidery work done after they went to bed!

Saturday morning, DJ and I cleaned the house, he mowed the grass, and Megan played "mommy".
She held her baby all morning!

DJ's dad and step mom came in town Saturday afternoon and we spent the afternoon playing outside and grilling.
Meggie struck this pose all on her own!

Gretchen and I hanging out outside.
The girls climbing on the kennel.
And, we let Adalyn eat her dinner outside so I wouldn't have a mess to clean up inside!

……………………………………………………….

DJ and my big girls woke me up around 8:00 on Mother's day morning with breakfast in bed!
Afterwards, I was able to open my gifts from Megan and Adalyn.
Megan made me a homemade card.

I love reading all the things that she loves about me! It's the little things that you don't think matter, but that are so important to her!
Adalyn's teachers made this canvas for me!

They've made three canvas paintings this year from Adalyn and I love them all so much!

We went to church, and I did get a picture of me and the girls on the good camera, and today, you're getting iPhone pics, so i'll post a real picture later!
After church we went to Charleston's to eat!

We came home and Adalyn took a nap and I told DJ I was going to do the same thing!

I haven't had a nap in forever, and it was so nice!

I took the girls to play outside in the sprinklers for a bit and did some reading, then we came in and watched t.v., cleaned house, and we fixed the girls dinner!

I had the best weekend! It was full of everything that I wanted to do and my hubby was so helpful this weekend and the girls were pretty well behaved! Gretchen even cleaned her own room Sunday evening (I only had to ask a dozen times over the weekend!)
Happy (belated) Mother's day and Happy Monday!

Wednesday Randoms....

Just some random ramblings for your Wednesday today! Life has been crazy because DJ went out of town on Monday morning and got back last night, and I haven't had time to even sit down or think about writing a post, but I wanted to get something up! So, sit back, and enjoy the randoms that make my life!
Addy Pearl is sitting up, crawling around, and pulling up. She is all over the house, and I'm remembering what it's like to chase after a baby! I usually sit her down in the living room with a pile of toys, and within a minute, she crawls away, but last week, she was happily chewed away on a toy football.

Gretchen had a zoo field trip last week and DJ was able to go! I'm so happy that he was there and that he could spend the day with her!
I think this was last Thursday night, when I saw that Addy Pearl had actually pulled herself up. She had been trying before we left for Colorado, and my mom said she did it while we were away, but she didn't get it on camera, so this is the first one we captured on camera.
Since we have gorgeous weather, we are trying so hard to get Gretchen to ride her bike and to enjoy it! She prefers her scooter, but Friday night she had so much fun riding around on our street.
Adalyn was trying to pull up on the rocking chair, so I picked her up, put her in it and she was so happy and proud!
We had family pictures taken Saturday night and I could not be more pleased with how our sneak peeks have turned out, and the girls really did a great job, despite Gretchen being a little silly!

My mom made dresses for each of the girls in different styles, but with the same fabrics.
I snapped this one of G.

I made the girls super over the top hair pieces to wear!
This is another one I snapped with my phone.

The next three are sneak peeks from our photographer. The quality is horrible, because I took screen shots from my phone. But, they take my breath away every time I see them!
I'm going to have the hardest time picking out pictures!

Here's an upclose of their hair pieces that I made!
We spent most of Sunday playing outside.
DJ smoked ribs and we let the girls stay up way too late, but it was totally worth it!

DJ was out of town on Monday, so I made arrangements to get us all out the door on time! We had soccer practice Monday night, and the girls needed baths again when we got home! I think I stayed up until 10:30 trying to get stuff done around the house, and I was just exhausted, so I wasn't able to get my Tuesday #girlmom post up, but I will have one up next week!
DJ came home last night and we spent over an hour playing around and enjoying having him home!

Then we ordered pizza because this mama was too tired to cook!

Here's to the downhill swing of the week ladies!

Hope it's a great one!

Girl Mom~ Mom's Got to Get Away!

So, today is not my typical Girl Mom post! Today ladies, i'm talking about how you can be a better mom by getting away from your kids! Just for a while, just for an evening or a weekend! Don't be afraid to take some time away and rejuvenate yourself and your relationship with your spouse!
When you're a girl mom, or just a mom, you need to take some time for yourself! Ladies, I'm challenging you to take one evening this week and do something for just for you! Actually, get your hubby involved too and do something fun for the both of you! And, don't talk about your kids while you're out! You'll come back feeling so much better and much more refreshed!

DJ and I did just this over the weekend as we traveled to Denver for two weddings! We used the weddings as a perfect excuse to get away, and it was fabulous! I'm pretty sure we haven't gotten away as just the two of us since Megan was about 9 months old, so we were way past due time!

My mom drove up on Thursday and was able to keep the girls for us for the weekend.

We flew out Friday morning and started out our trip with breakfast at the airport.
DJ did a little checking of his email and social media accounts.
On the plane headed to Denver!
In our rental car and ready to roll!

Y'all, we had NO plans. Seriously. We booked our flights, our car, and our hotel. Other than that we had no idea what we were going to do. We had a few ideas, but nothing specific and I loved that we were spontaneous the entire time we were gone.
This was about the time that I realized that I could not follow a GPS. I kept telling DJ to go straight and that he would eventually curve around. It took me about 5 minutes that we were the blue dot and that our blue dot was not on the blue line as it was suppose to be.
Driving in Denver, we came across the Broncos stadium.
We decided to eat lunch at Casa Bonita.

Now, I realize that if you are familiar with the restaurant at all, you're shaking your head at us. What were we thinking? I know. It was so horrible, that it was hilariously fantastic.

We decided to eat at CB, because one of our friends (one of the one's getting married) recommended it to us. He really wanted to propose here, because of childhood nostalgia, but he didn't get to.

We really had no idea what to expect, beside the fact that I grew up eating at a CB in Little Rock, and we knew that they served very average mexican food.

We walked through the endless twisting and turning of the aisles, until we finally got the register (think what you'd stand in while you're waiting to get on a roller coster.) We put in our order, weaved around more, picked up trays, silverware, and our food came flying out of a little hole in the wall and placed on our trays.

We finally walked into the restaurant where we were greeted with over the top mexican flair everywhere, and a big gigantic waterfall.

Our table had a little flat and anytime you wanted more food, or a drink, you just raised the little flag and the waiter would come over and bring more of whatever you wanted.

During our meal, we were entertained with a gut wrenching gorilla show (gut wrenching because it was so awful) and finally with a live dive from the waterfall into the pool below.)

I cannot make this stuff up.

Then I ate soapapillas, which was the best part of the meal.
After we ate, we explored the kids play area and the little kid maze/hideout thing, and checked out the gift shop and finally left.

Casa Bonita, thank you for the memories, but I don't think we'll be back soon.

After we ate, we decided to head up to Boulder to the University of Colorado and visit their video guy that DJ knows.

We checked out the football department, walked on the field, and then drove up to a little scenic over view. Those pics are on my camera, so you'll get those in another post. I know, you're totally bummed that you have to wait!

We left Boulder and drove through downtown Denver in rush hour traffic to check into our hotel. I may or may not have had a panic attack with the traffic.

We finally made it and I took a nap before we headed to the most incredible store on the planet…...
So, I've never been to Ikea, but thanks to Pinterest I had a good idea of what I was getting myself into. Or so I thought.

Y'all, it's heaven on Earth. I could write an entire blog post about my newfound love for Ikea, but I won't.

But, I will say, it's a two story store of happiness. I took millions of photos with DJ's phone so I could remember all of the ideas that I saw!

About half way through the upstairs, DJ realized there was no turning back. Once you're in, you're in. You cannot get out.

Just as I thought the store couldn't get any better, we walked downstairs and realized there was a child drop off area! You mean, I can drop off my children while I browse through endless home decorating and storage solution ideas that are so darn cheap, I don't even know how they afford themselves.

Count me in.

After we daydreamed our way through Ikea, we went to eat at J. Alexanders and I may have had the best steak and mac-n-cheese in my entire adult life.

This restaurant was so fancy, that I felt like I shouldn't pull out my cell phone and snap selfies or pics of the food! But, let me tell you, that mac-n-cheese, totally put Panera's mac-n-cheese to shame.

You can totally tell that I dine fancy!

So see, be a great mom and do something for yourself! Or for your marriage!

You totally deserve it!

What's your favorite way to get away?
