A Girl Mom Weekend

Well, our last little glimmer of summer ended this weekend. Now that Labor day has come and gone, we can all get ready for fall, and I don't know about you, but i'm not the least bit sad about it! This girl mom is ready for fall and all of the fun activities that it will bring! It's always a busy season for us, but it's one of my favorite times of the year!
So, how does a girl mom spend her labor day weekend?

Gretchen and I started the weekend off right by getting doughnuts before we headed to school.
Then, I get a sneak of her on the playground before I went inside for my lunch. I absolutely love having her at school with me.

I made homemade waffles for dinner on Friday night and Adalyn was pretty fussy. I had promised my neighbor that we could go to a friend's thirty-one party, and then I realized that Adalyn had a pretty high fever. I called DJ to let him know Addy wasn't feeling well, and he told me it was okay for me to go ahead and go to the party. About 45 minutes after I got to the party, DJ called to let me know that the big girls were still outside playing (our neighbors were watching them) and that Addy's fever had spiked up to 104. I immediately headed home, and stopped at the pharmacy to stock up on motrin and tylenol.

We put the big girls to bed, and then spent the next two hours holding Adalyn and trying to get her fever to go down. It finally did, and around 10, she was toddling around the living room like nothing ever happened. We finally got her in around 11, and she slept until 5:00, and fell asleep with us until 6, and then I put her back in her bed. Thankfully, she woke up fever free.

Saturday morning we had leftover waffles and I let DJ sleep in. I picked up the house a bit and then told him our "agenda" for the day, since he'd be home all day. All he wanted to do was watch college football, and all I wanted to do was sew.

I managed to get three orders completed, and then I took the big girls to the swimming pool for our very last swim of the season.
Once we got home from the pool, DJ fired up the grill and filled the kiddie pool in the backyard.

After baths and bedtime, DJ worked on game film and I did more sewing.
We went to church on Sunday morning, and I decided that Adalyn needed to stay with us since she was still running a low grade fever.
We sat in the balcony, so we wouldn't bother anyone and Adalyn had lots of fun in big church!

I took the girls to Old Navy afterwards, and then we headed home for lunch. Adalyn went down for a nap, and I made brownies for our Sunday night coaches wives Bible study.

We went to Bible study and all of the kids had a blast playing outside. Our Bible study this year is The Power of a Praying Wife, and i'm so excited to learn more about how I can pray for DJ and be a prayer warrior for him. I tried reading the book several years ago, but I never finished it.

After Bible study, we had pizza and headed home for baths.
I had to keep Megan awake the whole way home! I knew that if she fell asleep on our way home that she would NOT go to bed later that evening. Newsflash: she still had a hard time falling asleep.

I worked on orders again Sunday night since we didn't have school on Monday.
Monday morning we met friends at the park. Addy spent most of the time in her stroller or in the ergo, but she had fun when I got her down to toddle around.
Megan thought the park was too dirty, so she cleaned it using baby wipes.
Gretchen was just thrilled to see her BFF.

I drove the girls through McDonalds for lunch and then we headed home and the girls worked on art projects. Gretchen's little friend gave her a pirate book, so she set to work making a treasure chest, map and eye patch, and Megan cut and pasted too.
Then the girls each picked out a pirate tattoo. Megan's is a pirate baby!
After lunch, Adalyn took a nap, and the big girls watched Finding Nemo. Meggie says that it's "her favorite", and I went upstairs and finished two more projects!

Monday evening was spent cleaning the house (again), doing dishes, laundry, baths, fixing lunches, and setting out clothes so we'd be ready for school today.

And, that is how this girl mom wrapped up her summer and spent labor day weekend.

I'm telling y'all, I live an exciting life!

Our Last Week of Summer

Our summer has officially ended, and we have already been back to school this week… at least my little honey pie's and I have been… Gretchen is starting 1st grade today! We tried to have some fun last week while we enjoyed our last few days!
I took the girls to the park and Adalyn enjoyed swinging.
Meggie had a lot of fun swinging too!
Gretchen worked on her monkey bar skills.
And then the girls and I headed to Cherry Berry for ice cream since it was so hot outside! Plus, this was a nice way for me to convince them to leave the park!
We headed to the pool on Wednesday and the girls enjoyed soaking up the sun at the end.
I can't believe how much Adalyn has grown this summer, and how much she has learned to enjoy the pool!
One day, my girls will be doing this as teenagers.
We also had some indoor play time and indoor snuggles.
I was suppose to have a girls night out on Thursday, but Adalyn was a wee bit cranky so I ended up not going. I took the girls to Sonic for dinner, since I was held up with a cranky baby all day.
And Meggie fell asleep as soon as I placed her order!

We had a great week and although I'm a bit sad that our summer is over, I'm so thankful that we are getting back into a routine!

Sleepover, Sickness, & Looms

We're in our last week of summer, and it's a crazy, busy one! Today, my two goals include completing the three back to school orders that I have looming over my head, and to take my honey pie's to the swimming pool for an hour or two.

As busy as I am sewing away, I'm also trying to squeeze in a bit of fun with the girls!

………………………………………………………..
Addy Pearl is getting entirely too big! She's walking everywhere, and she found sunglasses in Megan's room and walked out with them around her neck. She's learning the function of objects that I didn't think she'd know quiet yet, and I'm reminded at how fast they grow.
I let Gretchen have a sleepover on Friday night! We haven't seen A&J (twin sisters) since last fall, life just got in the way, but the girls still talk about each other, and I was so glad that we could finally get them together!

They came over Friday evening, had pizza, and then we watched The Lego Movie. Meggie felt like a big girl too getting to stay up and hang out with her big sister and her friends!
The girls all slept in their sleeping bags (even though Gretchen complained that the floor was entirely too hard) and finally went to sleep around 10:30. They were up at 6 AM the next morning!
We had doughnuts for breakfast and I let the girls play for a bit and then we did a few arts and crafts projects before the girls went home.

The rest of Saturday was spent hanging around the house in the afternoon, visiting with our neighbors, and playing outside before bedtime.
DJ was home on Sunday morning, and since he had to cut the grass, we planned on staying home from church. It was a good thing, because Megan woke up not feeling well, and ended up sleeping until 9:30. Adalyn slept until 10, which is unlike her too!
Despite her appearing happy in this picture, she was anything but! She was fussy and clingy and not herself, so we had a very lazy Sunday.

Monday morning was pretty lazy as well, as the little girls were still trying to recover. Gretchen had her 6 year well child check up Monday afternoon, and our neighbor came over to watch the little girls. Before the dr. appointment, we stopped by the fabric store and I finally broke down and bought Gretchen the loom that she has been begging for since January!
We spent Monday evening trying to figure it out, and after three you-tube videos, the last of which included teenage girls filming with their cell phone and one of their bedroom floors, I finally figured it out! Thank you teenage girls.
Isn't my bracelet stylin'!
After I put Adalyn to bed on Monday night, I walked out and these two were sitting side by side on the couch watching t.v. before bedtime.
I woke up feeling puny on Tuesday morning, so Adalyn and I curled up on the couch and put on a Disney movie or two.
And, Gretchen spent some time working on her loom bracelets. She's honestly played with it a ton, and I'm thinking I could have bought it sooner to keep her occupied!

Thankfully, by the end of the day, we were all feeling pretty back to normal and hopefully today will be enjoyable for all of us!

As always, find me every day:

Our Last Few Days of Summer!

We are relishing in our last few days of summer! With only one week before we al head back to school, i'm trying to soak in as much summer as we have left and trying to get all of my orders finished as well! It's been a bit hectic, but we are making it!

Here's a little update of our last few days! Beginning with last Wednesday…….
I found Meggie in Adalyn's bassinet.

She has been putting her "babies" to bed in the bassinet, and I guess she crawled in as well so she could tuck her baby dolls in.

We had a picnic lunch at the pool.
We visited daddy at football and ran around on the football field afterward.

We are so excited that Tulsa is now in the American conference!
Meggie was so exhausted that she fell asleep on the floor (two nights in a row!)
On Thursday, I took the girls to the aquarium.

After we visited the aquarium, we wen to lunch and to buy school supplies.
Adalyn crawled up Megan's stepstool and on to the bed!
We had well-child check ups for Megan and Adalyn on Friday. Adalyn did not like sitting in the stroller waiting her turn!
And Megan tried to hide behind the stroller, but she did great at the doctor! I thought she'd be kicking, screaming, and crying the entire time, but she was such a big girl!

Today, Gretchen has her well-child check up and hopefully we won't be back to the doctor for a very long time!

One more week y'all. Sad day.
