A Random Little Mess.....

As I was scrolling through the pictures in today's post, and trying to think of a title, I could only come back to "A Random Little Mess"... I mean, it's just a look at life and what's been going on. Life is messy, it's not perfect, and that's just what this is. And, let me be honest with you. I love it!
Last Friday we finished our 2nd day of school. We headed to the gym so I could run, picked up dinner, and then went to the football scrimmage. We ate dinner in the stands, and afterwards, the girls enjoyed playing and running bleachers with their friends. It was hot, they were sweaty, I was able to catch up with a few of the other wives... it was a little mess of a night.
Saturday. Ugh, Saturday. I tried to catch up on some housework and we made it to the pool much later than I had anticipated. Gretchen was mad at Megan, Gretchen threatened to run away, and then she did. (Sort of.) So, we left the pool earlier than planned, and had a kiddo that was in trouble. Another little mess.
Eventually, Gretchen apologized and learned a very valuable lesson, and then we went over to our neighbor's house for dinner. She and I are relying on each other a lot! the girls love her little boy, and both of our husband's have been working weekends, so we need a little break and a glass of wine.
While we were there, the girls enjoyed dressing up as Batman. And y'all, this Lego Batman mask cracks me up.
I mean. A little random mess.
Sunday morning we had Bibles & Blessings at our church. Last year, Gretchen received her Bible, and this year, they decided to give all K-3 students a Bible, so it was Megan's turn! She went to "big church" with me (DJ had football), and then afterwards we celebrated with cupcakes.
I don't know how many pictures I took, but this was the best I could get!
Monday was Solar Eclipse day! Our school provided glasses for all of the students and it was so fun! I was able to catch Gretchen going from recess to lunch, so I took her outside for a little sneak peek!
Seeing the look on her face was absolutely priceless.

And, taking a selfie with complete black out glasses is next to impossible!
During the peek time, I went to the front of the building and just layed there to take it all in. Our school nurse came out and took this photo of my lying there- ha! It was probably about that time that a bug flew at me, and I realized that laying down wasn't the best idea.
And then she showed me the little eclipses that would show up in the shadow of our fingers. So fun.
Megan learned about the solar eclipse too! Her teacher shared a collage of her classroom, so I zoomed in to snap this one of Megan! I love getting to see a sneak peek of their school days!

So, that's my Random Little Mess for you today!

I'll be back on Friday and linking up for Friday Favorites!

Zoo Day & More

I have to start by saying thank you to so many of you that reached out last week from Friday's blog post.  So many of you are in the exact same place, and my heart aches for everyone that feels they have difficulty finding and keeping friends.

I do have to add, that I do have some amazing friends! There are still situations and times where I pray for more friends, but those are issues that I alone need to improve on.

Anyway, let's get on to our zoo trip!
Last week, the weather cooled off a bit, so the girls and I decided to go to the zoo last Thursday afternoon. We haven't been since earlier this summer, and Gretchen was away when we went, she especially wanted to go.
The new zoo exhibit opened up, and we loved seeing the update to our local zoo!
And all the girls compared themselves to a Chimp's proportions.

Megan and Adalyn brought journals with them to the zoo, and wanted to draw the animals they saw. Here's Megan's chimp..... notice his booty.

As we were leaving the zoo, the girls spotted the ice cream truck.... so we got ice cream.
Well played ice cream man, well played.

...................................................................................................................................................................

Friday night, Gretchen challenged DJ to a game of chess.
It was a pretty intense game.
The girls have been having lots of sister sleepovers lately. DJ tucked them in, and when I finally went up to give hugs and kisses, they were already sleeping.
And y'all, Megan found an eye mask that she stole from me forever ago!
And check out this tee from Shop Tailgate. It arrived just in time for football season! You can grab a football shirt and use the code ELAINEW for 10% off your order!
Sadly, Sunday was my last day off of summer, so I decided that we would have a lazy morning. To be fair, we had family in town, so we skipped church, but I watched a movie on t.v. and didn't even put on clothes, until 2 pm.
And finally, head on over to my Instagram, because I'm giving away OOLA affirmation bands!

I've shared many times, how much I love the  OOLA for Women book, and how it talks about finding balance in an unbalanced world. OOLA focuses on 7 key areas of life: field (career), family, finance, friends, fitness, fun, and faith.

All you have to do to enter is comment with one area that you need to focus on and find balance in! I'll be choosing a winner on Friday!

Alright, I'm off to work y'all! Back in the grind and the busy.

Summer is officially over. :(

Doughnuts & Discovery

This week, the girls and I set out to accomplish all of our to-do's before starting school, and we squeezed in a little fun.

We started our morning off at Krispy Kreme for doughnuts.
The girls had all earned a free doughnut from the summer reading program.
And, I let the girls each pick out a fun sprinkle doughnut of their choice.
After doughnuts, we ran some errands and Gretchen had speech.

We were getting a quick lunch when DJ called to tell me that our dog had gotten out and was found 6 miles away from our house! I'm still trying to think about when I actually let her out, and I felt awful knowing that she had been out for over 3 hours. Thankfully, a sweet family found her, tracked us down (they called our vet before calling us) and met me so I could pick her back up and get her home where she belonged!

Afterwards, we headed downtown to the Discovery Lab.
Gretchen had been in the spring on a field trip, and I've wanted to take the girls since she had so much fun. After completing our library's summer reading program, we had free passes, and the Discovery Lab, allows teachers to get in free with their i.d., so we had a free afternoon of fun.
The Discovery Lab is completely hands on, and is science based. There were a ton of STEM activities, and a huge slide made from tape!
There were legos, and ipads to design your own video games.
There was even a station to make your own parachute, and see how well it would fly.

We spent an hour in one room, and then went over to the next room..... Addy was getting bored so we took some selfies. She really wanted to go back to the tape slide, but her sisters were still having fun in this room.
After a while, we did get back over to the other room, and then we went outside to play on the playground and walk down to the little pond.

The girls had tons of fun playing and exploring.

We met DJ for dinner before calling it a night and heading home for baths and pj's!

Life Lately

So, I've dropped off the blogging bandwagon again. We've tried to enjoy the last few days of summer, and I'm trying just to get organized around the house, caught up on my to-do list, and have some down time before the hustle and bustle of the school year starts.
Last Friday, I had plans to take the girls to football practice and then to a children's museum, but our plans were sidetracked when we received a phone call from the school letting me know that Adalyn needed another vaccination before starting preschool, and told me it had to be done that day, or she would loose her spot at school. It turned out to be a misconfusion on the school's part, and once I went to the doctor, and took in her vaccination record, all was settled.

Since our plans were changed, we decided to have a late lunch and mark an item off my #35in35 list.

Try a new restaurant.

The girls and I headed to Toast in downtown Broken Arrow, and had a late brunch.
On our way there, Megan found a painted rock that was hidden downtown!
Megan and Gretchen both ordered Nutella crepes. Adalyn ordered French Toast.
And I ordered a turkey sandwich with bacon jam, and truffle fries.

Oh my word, the food was delicious! And we all had at least half of our meals left over so we brought home the leftovers. My sandwich and fries were just as good the next day!
That afternoon, we headed to the pool for a few hours.
And then Megan surprised me by offering to do the dishes after dinner! She was the best little helper!
We had a family movie night, and I found lots of selfies of Megan on my phone!
I tried out a new diffuser blend this weekend- Mojito Mix- and it was so refreshing!
The girls have been in to playing dress up again, and when it was time for lunch Princess Elsa, stuffed two cherry tomatoes in her cheeks and asked me to take her picture.
And then she tried freezing me with her powers (all while the two tomatoes remained in her cheeks.)
Monday evening, Megan and Adalyn started gymnastics. This school year, I managed to get all of our after school activities on Monday, and I'm so pumped about only having one late night this school year..... after gymnastics we headed to Tropical Smoothie for dinner.
And then we came home and the weather was gorgeous, so we went on a bike ride around the neighborhood.
I'm looking forward to more cool nights, but I'm not quite ready for them yet!
