Texas Bluebonnets

Ever since I first saw photos of Texas Bluebonnets online years ago, I wanted my girls to have their pictures taken with them. But, we didn't live in Texas, so I didn't think it would actually happen.

But, when we moved here, I was giddy because we could finally take pictures in the bluebonnets!!!
I found a photographer through Instagram (thank God for social media!) and scheduled a session with her.

While she was snapping away, I took a few with my cell phone. We'll get our photos from the photographer in a few weeks, but I couldn't wait to share these.

Enjoy.

Texas, we love you.

A Parade in ATX

We had the best little weekend, although we were sad to have to head back to school this week. Anyone else having a hard time getting back in to the swing of life?

Saturday morning, I woke up and head breakfast with these two cuties.
DJ headed to work early and my mother in law and I surprised the girls with a trip to downtown Austin to watch the Chuy's parade.
There were big balloons....
and storm troopers....

and overly decorated cars and floats.....
and more big balloons.
The girls had fun waving and seeing everything in the parade.
There was a lull in the middle of the parade, because this parade was a toy collection parade.

People brought new toys, and then the parade stopped, so the toys could be collected in trucks. It was super sweet, and even though we didn't have time to get a toy before hand, we'll make sure we grab a few next year ;)
We snapped a quick photo while we were waiting for the parade to begin again.

I mean, I guess it was like half time in a football game ;)
We saw Santa on the Chuy's float.
and then we snuck out and headed back to the car so we could meet DJ for lunch.
We went to a pizza place downtown that we had tried a few month ago.

The girls love it because they get dough to play with, there's a fun playground outside, and you can order pizza by the slice, so everyone gets what they want.
We took DJ back to work, and then went to the state capitol to explore.

We thought we would show Nana around Austin, but honestly, we wanted to get out and explore too!
The capitol building was gorgeous on the inside.
We took a quick photo in the rotunda, but all of the girls were pulling on each other, so this was the best we could do.
And then we made our way upstairs. Adalyn found a star on the floor and asked me to take her photo on the star.
Gretchen became our little tour guide.
and then we found this water fountain outside. I'm not 100% sure you can drink out of it, but the girls did.
We explored the grounds a little bit, before heading off to find.
a building and Austin.

The girls kept begging and begging me to tell them where we were going next, so I gave them two clues. A Building and Austin.

Basically, it's a fun post card photo op spot on the side of the building.
Only one kid was impressed, but they all agreed to take pictures.

But once we got back in the car, the girls told me that this stop was the "worst surprise ever."

Sometimes kids act like little..... well... you know. So, momma had to call it a day, and we headed home.

We spent the rest of Saturday watching football :)

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday friends! It's my favorite day of the week because I'm home today! Alone. Well, DJ's home too today, but Friday's are my new day off, and I'm ecstatic! We plan on hanging pictures and unpacking more boxes. One day, we'll be settled in our new home.

I'm linking up today with Andrea, Erika, and Narci for Friday Favorites and sharing a few favorite moments from life.
Morning snuggles are the best.

We're waking up early because the girls school starts crazy early. Well, crazy early compared to what we were use to in Oklahoma. So, if we can squeeze in just one minute of morning snuggles, we enjoy them.
Pajama days are always a favorite.

The girls all had pajama day as part of their school fundraiser, and they were thrilled. But, it was also early in the morning so excuse the "we're so tired" faces.
And since, our mornings are early, evening naps are a favorite. I managed to take one Monday evening, and every once in a while, if Adalyn gets still enough, she falls asleep too.
Homework here in Texas has been a killer. Some nights its an easy- read a book, practice a few sight words, but other nights, it's handwriting or math, and the girls don't look forward to it. And to be honest, I'm not a homework fan at all. Kids are in school all day, and there is no proof that homework helps a child retain information. Anyway, we're suffering through it ;) but peanut butter M&M's,  make it a little more bearable. The girls get 2 or 3 if they can finish their homework without complaining.
Addy came home with an invisible pen last week, so she gave us all invisible tattoos.
She was so proud of her drawing!
Harry Potter has been Gretchen's favorite. She's 5 1/2 books in, and has watched a few of the movies too.
Her teacher sent me this photo, and I so appreciated it! It's hard not being with the girls at their school every day, like I have been the last several years, but they're all settling in nicely.
Easy lunches are a favorite....
So is pizza night!
On Sunday, we went to The Domain in Austin for lunch and found a little play area. The girls had a blast playing.

These sisters are the best of friends.
We went to lunch, and the girls had wikki sticks to play with, and they all made glasses.
I just love these silly girls!

That's it for Friday Favorites! This weekend, we're going to try to squeeze in some Fall fun, if the weather will cooperate with us!
