Friday Favorites: Lent Edition

Today, I'm linking up with a few of my favorite bloggers for Friday Favorites! If you blog, take a chance and link up! If you just prefer to read, you can click here and read lots of other blogs that have linked up today! As always, thanks Andrea, Narci, and Erika for hosting the link up!
This past Wednesday marked the beginning of the Lent season. Lent marks the 40 days before Easter. Many religions, choose to use this time for fasting. My husband was raised Catholic and I was raised Southern Baptist. Until I met him, I had never participated in Lent. Since we've been married, there have been years that I have participated, and many years that I have not. I would use the excuse of being pregnant or having just had a child in order to not participate!

I've only been successful on two years for Lent that I can remember. One, was the year that DJ and I got engaged. You can read more about our engagement story here. That first year, DJ and I both gave up drinking coke. (It's the only soda that I drink, so I only gave it up.) Once Easter rolled around, we both had a huge glass of coke and celebrated that we survived!

The other year that I was successful, I gave up sweets. I know, what was I thinking and how in the world did I make it 40 days? We had just moved to Indiana and I had a job interview. I was interviewing at a therapy clinic, and they had decided to bring in cake for my interview. Apparently, speech therapists are in high demand, and they'll do anything to get you to work at their facility! I had to turn down the cake at my job interview! I felt SO BAD that they had gone out and bought a cake and there I was turning it down! If you know me, you know that I cannot turn down anything sweet, and I was shocked that I was still offered the job! I ended up turning it down and went to work in the school district due to the time off that school schedules allow!

Anyway, I've decided that I will be partaking in Lent this year, so today, I thought I would share my favorite things that I'll be giving up for the next 40 days!

1. I've given up shopping online! I've been a member of MJ Addicts on Facebook, and I've not been able to pass up an in-seek-of item or a good deal! I decided to remove myself from the group for the next 40 days so I wouldn't be tempted! I'm pretty sure that I'll be shopping away on Easter day!

I have to confess though, on Wednesday (the first day of Lent), I did buy the girls Toms that were on Zulily! To be fair, I had carted them on Tuesday, and then was tempted with a free shipping notice on Wednesday, and figured, that I need to go ahead and make the purchase!

But, from here on out, NO SHOPPING ONLINE!
2. I've decided to give up sweets. Sort of. I'm the kind of person who needs to have something sweet after my meals. I usually eat a little chocolate after lunch, when I get home, and after dinner. I'm giving up sweets after meals! Now, I may still have my once in a while doughnut with Gretchen (it's our every so often Friday tradition), but no more chocolate after lunch, when I get home, or after dinner!

I've been known to eat an entire bag of chocolate chips over a period of weeks, so this one will be really hard!
3. You'll read in this coming Tuesday's #girlmom post about why, this next one is really important to me. But, I am pretty short tempered. If the girls aren't listening, my first response is to typically raise my voice. Over Lent, I'm vowing to not yell at the girls.

I mean, look at those sweet faces! It's hard to control myself when things feel totally out of control, but over the next 40 days (and thereafter) I'm vowing to give up yelling.

4. Yesterday, Erika shared that over the Lent season, she is going to be encouraging other people. I thought this was a great idea, and I'm going to add it in as well! I think just by leaving a little note, positive words, or just giving a heart felt compliment can be a simple gift that I can offer to my family, friends, and co-workers!

So, do you give up anything for Lent? Leave me a comment and so I can lift you up in prayer over the next several weeks!

And, a little Friday Favorite random for you.....

I'm giving away this gorgeous Wishing Bracelet from Stella & Dot. I just think that you mom's deserve a little something, and I'd love to be the one to gift you a piece of jewelry!

Trusted Health Products: Review & Giveaway

In January, I was approached by Trusted Health Products to review their Beautiful skin care products. I jumped at the chance to review a new product, especially since the product is all-natural, 100% pure, with no chemicals!

Now that I'm in my 30s, I need a skin care line that is going to help my skin flourish and glow. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect with the Beautiful product, as I've used eye cream, moisturizer, and other skin care lines for years, I honestly didn't expect to see a change in my facial appearance so I decided that I would take before and after pictures in order to see if this product was truly working.
This is me just a few days after I received the bottles of moisturizer. The picture is 100% untouched and I have on no make up. I have dark spots on my forehead, and dark "bags" under my eyes. I also have several freckles around my cheeks.

Make up has been kind enough to cover these imperfections, but I also don't like to wear make up every day. Especially if i'm home and have no plans of going somewhere. I'm pretty self cautious about the way I look without make up though, thanks to these dark spots and imperfections.

Somewhere along the way, I lost my two week photo, but I made sure to take picture at week 2, 3, and finally at week 4.

I'm amazed at the difference of just two weeks time! In the week 3 photo, I no longer have the spots on my forehead or the bags under my eyes.
And week 4, after I had taken off my make up one evening.

And finally, a more current picture.

I mean y'all, I'm totally amazed. Every single time I look in the mirror, i'm amazed. I can definitely see the improvements in my skin and under my eyes. I'm excited to see the changes that will continue to take place with this product. I'm even more excited that I still have a month supply left in the bottles I was sent!

I also love that the products are 100% natural, contain no parabens, and no GMOs! Not to mention, the moisturizer has the most amazing smell!

I was given a bottle of the Beautiful AM Moisturizer and the Beautiful PM Moisturizer
I have used coconut oil as a face wash for the last year, so I continued to use the CO as my make up remover. Then, I would apply a few drops of the pm moisturizer to my cheeks, and spread in a circular motion being careful to not rub the oil in. I also applied the oil to my forehead, nose and chin.

I used the AM moisturizer every morning in place of my old moisturizing lotion. Again, you apply it in a circular motion, and allow three minutes for it to soak into your skin. I began to notice that my make up was going on smoother and I was using less foundation.

The company sent me the following information:

Please be advised that within the first 30 days of using Beautiful, you may experience a brief blemish breakout. This typically lasts from 1-2 days, possibly up to a week. The botanical oils in Beautiful gently and naturally remove toxins and build up that have accumulated over time from the use of chemical-laden skincare products and cosmetics. These botanical ingredients also help remove the cause behind excessive oil production. If a breakout does occur, this is actually a really good sign, as your skin will be ridding itself of toxins that have built up over time. It’s important not to get discouraged during this brief detoxifying period, because once it ends, your skin will emerge with a more beautiful, young looking, radiant appearance. Results vary for each person. You may wash your face with soap before applying Beautiful; we also recommend that after 30 days you try washing your face with just warm water to see if it removes the dirt without soap.

I definitely had break outs while using the product. However, they only lasted 1-2 days, and were mostly around my chin and forehead. I had one break out around my nose. Upon looking in the mirror, I could tell that the oils and dirt of my skin were being raised toward the surface. I definitely noticed the product cleansing my pores on a regular basis.

Now that I've been using the product for a month, the break outs are minimal, but I know that my pores are still being cleaned.

THP also has a mens skin care line, The Man,  that I think DJ would love to use!

THP is willing to offer my readers one FREE bottle. They said they would love to have my readers try out Beautiful A.M. Moisturizer (for women) or You’re the Man A.M. Moisturizer (for men) and agreed to send one bottle FREE if you would pay a minimal shipping and handling charge. This is a one-time only offer!  They also agreed to include 2 eye-opening reports – The Poisons You Put On Your Face Everyday and Why Your Skin Care Products Have Never Worked: The Truth Revealed .”  That’s a total value of over $40.00. Click here to get your FREE Bottle and FREE reports now!”

THP also has a Facebook page, and just by 'liking' their page, you'll save $5.00 on your first order! Be sure to check out their Natural Health Blog and Newsletter too.

THP is offering THREE of my readers a chance to WIN a bottle of the Beautiful AM Moisturizer!

Bows, Bags, & Wine + a Giveaway!

I am so excited to share with y'all a few of my favorite new products from Thirty-One Gifts today! I fell in love with this company several years ago, and I have many of their products that I use all the time!

If you're not familiar with the company, Thirty-One Gifts was founded based on Proverbs 31 and that women can be Godly women who provide for their family and still have the chance to be with their families! I just love that.

My dear friend, Sarah and I decided we would, together, host a girls night out for our local friends, and the party is this Friday night! We plan on having appetizers, desserts, and wine tasting and just hanging out and enjoying each others company! I am so excited for this girls night out, because, this mama needs it!

But, I don't want y'all to miss out either! You're my dear friends all across the nation and I love y'all too! So sit with me while I share a few of my favorite thirty-one products and give you a sneak peek at their Spring 2014 line!

As soon as I saw this tote, I fell in love with the design! I mean, I kind of want everything that this design comes in! Pink and yellow are my favorite color combination, and I love the punch that this bag has! I also love it's size because it's perfect for a day about town, a trip to the pool, or the lake! I also love that this bag has pockets! Because, pockets make everything instantly better!

I hosted a party about a year and a half ago, and this next product was only exclusive to the hostess. I bought one, because it was such a great item, and I am so excited that they now offer the product to everyone!

This casserole carrier is amazing y'all! It fits two large rectangle casserole dishes and can be personalized, so you'll never loose your bag at a potluck! It's thermal insulated, so it keeps your food hot or cold!

For all of you working mom's, you need to purchase a thermal tote! I keep telling myself i'll buy one, and I typically end up with some other product (like their utility totes or make up bags), but I think i'll be buying this Friday night! Our work room refrigerator's are stocked full of lunch totes from thirty-one gifts, so I'm sure they are amazing! Again, they can be personalized, so no one will be stealing your lunch!
Thermal Tote $18.00

I mentioned before, that I have a few of their utility totes, and I'm in love with the fabric option below, because it screams "take me to the lake, yo!" ..... or to the beach, or on a yacht, you know, anywhere you may be vacationing this summer!

We use this as Adalyn's diaper bag for daycare and it's perfect! I love that the outside pockets hold her bottles or an extra pair of socks and the inside is roomy enough for her cloth diapers, wet bags, and an extra change of clothes!

Aren't y'all just giddy about their products! I absolutely love seeing all of the fun prints that they come out with every year!

Thirty-One Gifts can be shipped nation wide, so just click on the link below to place an order!

Now, our Friday night girls night, isn't just about us ladies, although, us mama's deserve to spoil ourselves, but I'll also be bring tons and tons of ready to purchase hair accessories to the event!

I know many of you already shop online for my hair bows! But, after Friday nights event, i'll be having a HUGE comment game sale where you can get your hands on my newest hair bows!

And, that's not all y'all! Because we love you all so much whether you are right here in Oklahoma or spread across the nation, Sarah and I decided that we are each giving away a $10.00 gift certificate to our shops! One winner will receive a $10.00 gift certificate to HPA,  and a $10.00 gift certificate to thirty-one gifts!

Pretty In Pink Pull & Play Pig Review & Giveaway!

Bright Starts contacted me in the beginning of August asking if I would like to review & giveaway one of their brand new products. I immediately agreed, because i'm a huge fan of their products for babies!

We received the Pretty in Pink Pull & Play Pig and I immediately fell in love with how cute it is! My girls are huge fans of anything that is pink and that is soft and cuddly!
The pig vibrates, wiggles & jiggles when you pull it's spiral shaped tail, and the ears are crinkly which provides stimulating sounds and textures. I love the little bow that the pig has on (as you know, we're huge fans of hair bows in this house!)

MC enjoys watching it wiggle when I pull the tail and G is able to play easily with MC and entertain her with this toy.
You can purchase this toy at Amazon.com, Buy Buy Baby, Target, Toys R Us, or Wal-Mart and Bright Starts is sending a portion of the proceeds to support breast cancer charities! Or you can keep on reading and enter here to win one for yourself!
Mandatory Entry: You need to 'like' Bright Starts on Facebook, and either thank them for the giveaway on Honey Pie Accessories Blog, or at least tell them that I sent you their way! After you do this, then leave me a comment letting me know that you completed the task and leave me an email address in that comment to contact you if you win!

Go Green Cloth Diaper: The Champ: Review & Giveaway

I was given the chance to review a GoGreen Pocket Diaper~ my first cloth diaper review and should I add GIVEAWAY! Yup, you can win one of these for your own little fluffy butt!
The GoGreen Company sent me their "Champ" cloth diaper. The Champ is a premium one-size diaper, in which you do not have to remove the soiled insert because it's designed to come out on its own in the wash. It also features an extending size, so it will fit from birth through potty training age.

I told the company to send me whatever print they wanted, and they sent me a super soft diaper. I love the snap feature, because I know the insert is securely held in place. I also like that the diaper has an opening in the front and the back, so I don't feel like i'm shoving my hand inside the back end to secure the insert in the front end. Plus, that snap holds it in place.

I have not tried leaving the insert attached while I wash the diaper. To be honest, with how out of the loop i've been the past few weeks, it was a feature I had forgotten about. But, I wish I would've remembered, because tonight I'm pretty sure that I stuffed the GoGreen insert into another diaper! Had, I remembered, I wouldn't have the problem of a missing insert. So, once I find it, i'm going to try to leave it attached next wash cycle.

The diaper was a little tricky to figure out the correct size for MC. But, once I figured it out, it fits great! She's worn this diaper two or three times and we have yet to have a leak in it.

The price for the GoGreen diaper is also great~ only $14.95.

You can win one GoGreen pocket diaper as well! Please leave 1 comment per entry, along with your email address in at least 1 of your comments.

Mandatory Entry: Go to GoGreen's website, and tell me which print you would like to have! Leave your email address in this comment. You must do this for other entries to count.

5. Thank GoGreen Pocket Diapers on Facebook for the giveaway and leave a link to this blog post (2 entries=2 comments)

6. Post about this giveaway in your facebook status, or tweet about the giveaway, leaving a link to the giveaway. You may do this 1x per day, so leave a comment, every time you do this!

Giveaway will end on July 7th. The winner will be chosen by random.org and will be notified by email. If you do not leave your email address, then another winner will be chosen. The winner will have 24 hours to respond via email, or another winner will be chosen. I was given 1 GoGreen Champ pocket diaper for the review. All thoughts & opinions are my own. The GoGreen company is responsible for providing 1 diaper to the winner.

Undercover Mama Review & Giveaway!

I came across the Undercover Mama nursing tank from another blog giveaway. I contacted the company asking if I could do a review and giveaway for their product. This nursing tank was something that I haven't seen before and I thought it was a wonderful concept! The Undercover Mama simply attaches to your nursing bra, turning every shirt into a nursing shirt. It allows you to lift your shirt to nurse, but still have your post-partum belly covered.

You can attach the tank in one of two ways. The first, is a new feature, the loop. The loop will actually clasp onto the same part as the cup of your nursing bra. When I was trying this tank in the hospital, this was the easiest way for me, although I was a bit afraid that it might break. I think if you're gentle enough, it'll be fine.

The second way to attach, took some digging through their website before I figured it out. I thought that it would be the part that hooked directly to the clasp on the nursing bra, but it actually hooks directly on the fabric of the cup. I actually love this way, because it's an easy 1-unsnap, versus unhooking the loops and then unhooking your bra.

I read a few Amazon reviews when trying to figure this out, and one complaint was that it didn't fit all of the lady's nursing bra's, but that it worked best with her thinner cupped bras. My nursing bra cup is fairly thick, and it fit just fine.

I haven't had a chance to wear the tank under a t-shirt, but that's because i'm only 1 week post partum, and i'm not wearing a lot of shorts, and I've been in the house a lot.

I have worn the product under two dresses that had v-neck openings, b/c I could pull the dress to the side to nurse, and easily cover my growing cleavage with the nursing tank!

I loved that it provided coverage. The material is very soft, and after I read on the product a bit more, I easily figured out how to attach the tank. I'm a little concerned with how hot I might be once we move to Oklahoma in the tank, but I also know that it will come in handy at football games where I'll be nursing in front of many others. I do love though, that it completely covers my belly and my back.

The Undercover Mama comes in gray, black, brown, white, cream, pink, and nude. Sizes range from small to XX-Large and cost only $24.99

After I received my tester tank, I found them on a zulilly sale, and purchased another. I also think I'm going to add the black tank to my collection.

Undercover Mama has also offered to giveaway 1 of their tanks to one of my readers/followers! Here's how you can enter: (please leave 1 comment for each entry & do not group entries into the same comment & please leave your email address, so you can be contacted)

Mandatory Entry: Follow Undercover Mama on Facebook AND on Twitter for 1 entry. Leave 1 comment for doing both things and your email address in the comment

Extra Entries:

1. Follow Honey Pie Accessories blog via GFC. (1 entry/comment)

2. Follow Honey Pie Accessories on Facebook (1 entry/comment)

3. Leave some comment love on Undercover Mama's Facebook or Twitter account thanking them for the giveaway on Honey Pie Accessories (2 entries/leave 2 comments)

4. Blog about this giveaway and leave me the link in your comment (3 entries/leave 3 comments)

5. Tweet about this giveaway for 1 entry/1 comment, change your facebook status for this giveaway for 1 entry/1 comment, or send out an email for 1 entry/1 comment (you may do this daily)

Winner will be chosen by random.org, and will have 24 hours to respond once contacted. Winner will recieve a black or white tank in their choice size. I was not paid for this giveaway, but I did receive 1 free tank. All thoughts are my own opinion.

Giveaway ends the evening of June 6.

January Giveaway!

It has been several months since I have been able to do a giveaway on my blog. I'm thankful that I've had tons of custom orders to keep me from making bows, but I'm hoping that in the new year, i'll be able to get back to my original crafting of hair bows.
I am in love with this snowman ribbon, as it makes some of the cutest bows!
So, I'm giving one away FREE to one of my readers!
How to Enter:
1. Follow my blog. (1 entry)
2. "Like" my facebook page. (1 entry)
3. Tell me what you like best about winter time. (1 entry)
4. Join the "Bow of the Month" club via my facebook site (5 entries).
Make sure that you leave a seperate comment for each entry, and have your email address in at least one of your entries.
The giveaway will end on January 12th. The winner will be notified by email for the shipping address.
Good luck!
