Basically all of August

This blog post was started and then stopped several times, so it's basically just a big huge recap of August.

August is always a crazy month for us. I'm in denial that Summer is ending. DJ is back to work with a crazy busy schedule, school is starting... It tends to go by fairly quickly, and we had a lot going on this month.
We started the month with a hat party with some of the support staff wives. Us wives have been craving community, so we just decided to start creating fun things for us to do.
Longhorn Fashions opened up their boutique to us so we could decorate our own hats for this Fall and shop.

It was so fun, and I loved being with the wives before the season began.
Adalyn and Megan had friends sleepover, and we headed to the pool.
These two have best friends since we moved here and I'm so thankful they're still the best of friends
These two are also best friends.
We also hit up the "spider park" near our house.
One Sunday afternon, we went to see DJ at the office.
Sometimes these girls can go days without seeing their dad and it is hard.
DJ was home one afternoon, and Adalyn decided she wanted to match him.
I've been working out over the past several weeks (working my way toward 100) and I have to say, when you finish yoga, spend a few minutes on an acupuncture mat, and you'll feel so much.
Gretchen and I found ourselves home one evening just the two of us, so we went for ice cream and then came home to watch Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion. I love this movie and it was fun to watch with her!
We dropped Megan and Gretchen off at youth group, and DJ had the night off, so we went out for pizza and these two found the free arcade game.
Megan did this. Owe!
And then she put on her clothes and we baked cookies.
I took the girls to play laser tag and we hit up the arcade for a bit too.
Megan had gone bowling and to the arcade with a summer youth group event and she was dying to have Gretchen try this game with her.
They had a blast playing laser tag and asked why we hadn't gone more this summer!
These two and I headed off to a family bbq after a football scrimmage.
and then Megan tried out a stunt clinic.
DJ came home and we had a date night later that night!
After our quick dinner date, we came home, watched the girls play outside, and the sky was gorgeous.
A few days after school started, the girls were all home at the same time! We had a chat session about their day, DJ came home, and
we headed out for celebratory ice cream for surviving the first 2 days of school.
Later that weekend, these girls and I hit up the pool.
And another Wednesday night, where big sisters were at youth group, so it was just the three of us. She is soaking it up.
Then last Thursday, I went out with a few more wives to the Alice in Wonderland Cocktail Experience. It was a little strange, but definitely fun!
We had bring a friend to church day, Sunday, so Adalyn brought her BFF.
We headed out to lunch afterwards, because DJ was home all day!!!

It was a great way to end this month and get ready for the craziness that September has in store!

Garth in Arlington

Over the weekend, the Welte 5 headed off to Arlington, Tx to the Garth Brooks concert. DJ bought us all tickets last Spring, and we decided to make it in to camping trip rather than getting a hotel. Megan had her mock meet Friday night, so DJ drove up with the camper Friday afternoon and got everything set up, and then Megan and I drove up Friday night after her meet.
Saturday morning, DJ cooked us "camping toast", eggs, and bacon, and then I headed 2 hours east to pick up Adalyn and Gretchen from my parents. We had lunch, and then we headed back tot he campsite and got ready for the concert.
Two adults taking 3 kids to their first concert.
We ended up buying a parking spot in advance, and got there in plenty of time where traffic wasn't crazy, but we did park on the wrong side of the stadium for our entry gate. Whoops!
The girls were a trooper though. This was our 2nd time going to AT&T Stadium; our first was for the Big 12 Championship game back in 2018, and hopefully we'll be back this December.
DJ and his girls.
We grabbed dinner and headed right for our seats.
2nd row, 3rd level.... compared to most of the stadium and standing room only areas, I was thrilled with our seats.
We also had some super kind peeps behind us that we chatted off and on with while we waited for the concert to start.
Love this guy.
These girls weren't sure what to expect for their first concert, but I think they loved it. They definitely loved being back together after a week of Camp Gee.
Adalyn is our big country music fan. She sings to all the songs on the radio. She said "take my picture and put it on my Instagram." She doesn't realize she doesn't have an Instagram, just a hashtag wtih all of her pictures ;)
The concert started late, but I feel like they rarely start on time. We listened to a few songs from a songwriter, and then Trisha Yearwood opened with a few of her songs. Gosh, I don't think I realize how much I love her music until I actually hear her. Singing to "She's In Love with the Boy" while my daughters were there was just so fun.
Garth came out and did his thing and it was incredible. DJ and I had been to a Garth concert before, but this one was so much better. He played for a solid hour, then came back on and played requests that people had written on posters in the crowd. Then his band came back, he and Trisha live recorded Shallow, and it was fabulous.
We made it back to the camper around 1, after sitting in the parking lot for a solid hour trying to get out! The girls were exhausted, but such a fun first concert!

Only 2 of our 3 know that they're going to see Carrie Underwood in November! Adalyn is going to freak!

A Week with Megan

Last week, Adalyn and Gretchen went to my mom's house for their annual "Camp Gee". Megan wasn't able to go, because of gymnastics, but that left us with an entire week of our middle child being an only child and she loved every minute of it!
When I came home from work on Monday, I took her bowling and she totally beat me by 2 points!
She was a little proud of herself!
After bowling, she played some arcade games. DJ joined us and we headed to Torchy's for dinner.
Then we stopped by Crumbl cookies for dessert.

It was such a fun afternoon with her!
At one point during the week she was my "mini me".

She had gymnastics, was my buddy at work one day, and played wtih neighbors.
We finished the week with her mock gymnastics meet.

It's rare that we get 1:1 time wtih the girls, but a whole week was extra rare! We loved every minute of it!

Catching Up...

So, it's been a while, and I need to catch up :) I took a few weeks off blogging to just enjoy family time, but I'm back and excited to share what we've been up to! The last time I left off DJ's dad and step mom were in town and we were celebarting Father's day weekend.
The day after Father's day, we crossed an item off our Summer Bucket List, and ate at The Oasis, a restaurant right on Lake Travis with gorgeous sunset views, good drinks, and good food.
We sat outside ont he patio and slowly worked our way through drinks, appetizers, and diner.
The drinks were delicious, and a bit heavy handed.
Next time we go, we'll bring a lock to hang.
The views were stunning.
Love doing life with this guy.
We stayed until past sunset before headiang home. DJ's parents left the next day, and we were so glad to have been able to spend time with them.
The following weekend, the girls went to stay with their aunt and had the best time swimming, staying up way too late, and playing lots of games.
While they were away, I enjoyed sleeping in and some solo pool time.
Later that day, DJ and I went to look at campers and then we ate at Willie's Roadhouse in Buda.
Meanwhile, the girls were working out with their aunt before hitting up the pool for the 3rd day in a row.
Once the girls got home, Megan was back to showing us all her jumps on the trampoline. She's had a love/hate relationship with gymnastics this Summer, but I think she's back to loving it again after finally learning all of her routines.
And we wrapped out the month with more pool time. It's so hot in Texas, we basically have to be in the water or in the house!
