Tuesday Things

Spring practice for football is in full swing and the girls are keeping me busy with all of their activities! Plus the weather has me wanting to stay outside and soak up the sunshine, and I'm falling way behind on everything else. So, I have lots of Tuesday Things for you today!
I wanted to try to use some of my oils that have just been sitting, so I'm working my way through diffusing and using. Last week, I grabbed Palo Santo oil and paired it with orange. Palo Santo is great for immune health, relaxing, and  detoxing. I love orange with basically anything, and it's also a great relaxing oil. These two paired together was heaven. I've used almost my entire bottle of Palo Santo, and now that I know a little more about it, I know that I need to use it more! Seriously- if you're an oiler- go google this one!

My favorite phone case company released the cutest new cases last week. The cowprint one is sreaming Texas girl! As is the cute pink one with boots, horseshoes, and longhorns of course! This phone case, holds your id or credit cards, and I'm actually taking less and less with me when I head to soccer games or running errands. It's freeing realizing that now that my kids are grown, I'm not lugging a ton of stuff around. And, that loop on the back, folds in and acts as a kickstand if you need to prop your phone up!

Part of my March, wellness box order came in. I placed 3 separate orders- one on my account, one on DJ's account, and then I used DJ's account to redeem the points I had saved up..... My personal order included a box of Ningxia Red and Thieves toothpaste!

This little box, got me 35 points added to my account that I'll later redeem on more free products!

Gabby loves popcorn! The girls do too and usually come home and eat it as an after school snack. As soon as Gretchen sat down with her bag, Gabby was right beside her waiting to eat some.

Thursday night, DJ and I had date night! Two weeks in a row, we've been able to head downtown to meet up with friends!

My little cousin was in town for her Spring Break so we met her and her friends and took them to a few bars on 6th street. So fun! And thankfully, I wasn't too old to party with them, however, I was super tired and lazy the following day.

On Friday, Gabby and I picked up Megan from school, and this is how Megan thought she'd get out of the car. Sigh. Gabby was not impressed and trying to jump out over her.

Then they came in and Megan tried teaching Gabby how to walk on the balance beam.
Adalyn came home from school on Friday and told me that she had spent her day selling bracelets to her friends and she needed to get them made. She got out all of her beads and set to work. She's saving for an ipad mini ;) and thought that selling bracelets might be a good way to do that! But, in light of this, I think our little bracelet shop on Instagram is going to get a little revamp soon!

Friday night, I took Gretchen and Adalyn to The Domain so they could see their cousin while she was still in town. We enjoyed cupcakes from the Sprinkles ATM.

and a drink from Starbucks! Gabby even got her first pupiccino.

They were thrilled to see their big cousin!

Saturday afternoon was spent at soccer.

And then Gabby and I went on a walk Saturday night. DJ brought home pizza and we watched basketball and chilled.

Sunday was filled with church, lots of house cleaning, cookie baking, playing outside, and a family dinner!

Spring Break Fun

Spring Break looked a little different this year for our family because we opted to stay home rather than travel. It's rare for us to stay home over Spring Break and while part of me longed to be on the road, another part was thankful for a slow week and relaxing evenings being together as a family. I worked Monday through Thursday. Megan had gymnastics each morning, Gretchen went skating with a friend, and Adalyn came with me to work one day. DJ was home with the girls each day watching basketball or working on his long honey-do list.
Wednesday night, the big girls went to church and Adalyn and I cleaned and re-arranged the play room. I moved the couch over to a corner rather than in front of the window, and it's a little more cozy. Part of me is so ready to get rid of toys but I know the girls are still playing and enjoying so many of them, that they're hard to part with. Before long there won't be any toys in this space, and while I'm so ready for a clutter free space, I know that i'll miss the stage of them being little.

Adalyn came to work with me on Thursday. I think she was tired of being stuck at home all week! I was able to cut my day down a little bit, so we didn't put in a full day, but she was a big helper and played great with all of my kids!

When we got home, DJ had us all fill out our March Madness brackets.

And this girl passed her driving test!!!

She turned 15 in January, but we couldn't really figure out the process here in Texas. I got an eemail from her school about an online driver's course, and it included a discount code making it free, and everything she'd need to study for and take the test. Now that she's passed, we've made her an appointment to get in to get her permit, and then we can practice driving and she'll complete the rest of the course.

DJ took Adalyn to the eye doctor last week, and she received a prescription for reading glasses. She was so excited! They came in on Thursday and she could not wait!

Thursday night, DJ and I headed downtown to watch the Texas men's basketball game with a few friends.
Friday morning, we got up and drove to Houston to use our Space Center Membership. We bought it last May thinking we would use it a handful of times, and we just haven't had the time in our schedule. We made it around noon and headed to "meet an astronaut' and listen to his story of when he was in space. He showed us all kinds of cool pictures.

Then we hopped on our tour to see where the astronauts and engineers work on equipment and train. We watched a quick presentation about a telescope, and then learned about the upcoming Mars expedition.

There was a big festival going on so it was super crowded. We decided to call it a day around 2.

After the space center, we went to eat BBQ at Pinkerton's and then made the drive back home.

Friday night, the girls and I curled up in the playroom with Gabby to watch a movie.

Saturday night we headed to campus to watch 2 of the women's March Madness basketball games.
Drake & Louisville played first and we all pickeed Drake to win.... but they lost. The game was so close and the ending was fun to watch!

Then we stayed and cheered on the Lady Longhorns! The girls got a picture with some of the basketball team members. So fun!

And we had close to the floor seats so they lived their best lives watching the cheerleaders and cheering with Hook "Em.

And that night, we finally downloaded Instagram on Gretchen's phone and she was so excited! I had to take a picture of her making her first social medial post!

100 Day Challenges

In September of 2021, I started my 1st 100 day challenge. And I failed, miserably. I had planned to work out for 100 days in row and I made it about a week, maybe two.

Then in January 2022, I was determined to try again. I decided I wanted to start off by completing a daily devotion in the Bible app for 100 days, and I did it.

After I finished 100 days of Bible studies, I took some time off until that summer, when I decided I would complete 100 days of workouts. I lasted over 130 days, and then I added one more 100 day challenge to complete before 2022 ended. This time, I was going to read my Bible, write one thing I was grateful for, and make sure I did at least one thing for my Young Living business every day.

I'm currently on day 175 days of writing down one thing I'm thankful for, day 75 of workouts and day 75 of reading through the Bible.

So, how did this all get started?

I've followed Lindsay Teague Moreno for years over on Instagram and she wrote a book titled "Wake Up 100" and pepped up her followers on Instagram.

Sometimes, I'm a "go with the crowd" person and I was like, 'Yes! Let's do this.' but I wasn't actually committed. Which is why I failed my first round. I had some friends that wanted to do the challenge, as well, but all 3 of us backed out fairly quickly. Life gets busy, we don't make time, don't prioritize ourselves. It was football season.....

Aren't we all full of excuses?

Finally, as I made my New Year's Resolutions, I jumped back in, fully committed this time- but also, I wanted to choose something easy. I wanted to prove to myself that I could commit to just one thing every day, so I started small- just reading through the daily devotion on the Bible app. I don't remember if I told anyone about this initial challenge-maybe just DJ. But as I further progressed in my challenges, I started posting more and more on Instagram and Facebook and found that it kept me really accountable. Especially on the hard days.

What I love about this challenge is you get to make up the rules. You get to decide what you'll do, how you define success, and how you fail.

When I started my daily workouts, my goal ws 30 minutes of movement a day.
If my exercise ring minutes started to close throughout the day at work or during activities, then I would only have to close whatever was left to get in a full 30 minutes.
I could do any type of exercise- weights, yoga, walking, swimming, hiking, biking. It just had to close my ring.
I could exercise whenever I wanted. Morning, afternoon, evening. It didn't matter.
A few times I was so tired, I would complete the easiest yoga activity I could find. Even if it was 30 minutes of a relaxation yoga. I counted it.

I'm 4 rounds in to completing these challenges, and I've learned that I can commit to myself, and I should. I want to be healthy when I'm older. I want to give my body what it's capable of, and I want to push it, and make it stronger. I want to be active as my kids are teenagers, go in to college, and even as a grandparent one day.

There are days that I just don't want to, and I'm thankful that DJ will give me the little nudge. He'll go pick up the girls so I can get in an 8 pm workout- because I've just put it off. He and the girls will pick up the kitchen, so I can get in a workout. They've seen that I'm committed, and they'll sacrifice to help me with my goals.

When we travel, I take my yoga mat with me. If I can't get in a walk, then I know I can do yoga anywhere. I've even traveled with my weights, but I find that just taking my mat and promising myself to yoga or body weight exercises is enough.

Lindsay, has just started another round with a group of people on Instagram. They started Tuesday, so if you commit to start today, you won't be far behind! I'd love to know if you're doing this- I want to cheer you on! It's so fun to see other people succeed  and commit to their goals!

Are you up for 100 days?

Weekend Wrap Up

This weekend was busy! I usually feel like our weekends are fairly relaxing, but this weekend, we were on the go!
Adalyn's school had field day on Friday. Since I was off, I was able to go and watch all of the fun! And gosh, she had so much fun!

She's made so many good friends this year!
Adalyn's class went from station to station, and played ring toss, soccer, frisbee, hula hoops, basketball....so many activities were set up!

They played "head, shoulders, knees, cone" and Adalyn beat her partner almost every time!

More friends, more fun!

Adalyn's class has a pet bearded dragon and she's begged us for one this year! We keep telling her no way! I was even more certain when her teacher tried to get me to hold it during the tug of war game! Nope, absolutely not! Adalyn held him though, and I was brave enough to pet him. But no way would I have one! I have a feeling she's going to have a lot of pets when she grows up and moves out.

After all the games, she ended with a face tattoo, and I said good-bye and went home to enjoy a few quiet hours before the girls came home and our Spring Break offiially began.

Saturday morning, we got up, did some light cleaning and then drove to Dripping Springs for Adalyn's soccer games.
They had to pay 5 on 5 the first game because so many kids were already gone for Spring Break!
She played great and her team won their first game, tied the 2nd game, and Adalyn even scored a goal!

Megan was invited to the Toby Mac concert with her friend. She had the best time!

Sunday morning was a scramble with the time change and getting up and getting ready for church. I had an event after church, so I had to shower, curl my hair, iron my dress, and then help the girls get ready some and it was a mad dash!
After church, I met some friends down town for a Boxt wine tasting event. The wine was delicious and so was the charcuterie.

But hanging with these ladies was the best! Thank you, Katrina for having us!
