New Wipe Cases

I took some time, while Gretchen was napping, to finish up some wipe cases I have been working on. It took me forever, to finally get to the store to purchase the trim, and then we had a busy day yesterday.

This is the first time I've used this trim, and I absolutly love it! Above: Brown w/ pink dots w/ brown trim.
Above: green with cream dots and cream trim. I love how this one can work for either a boy or a girl.
Above: argyle print with brown trim.
I also stopped using batting on the wipe cases, and I'm so glad that I made that decision! The cases aren't as bulky as they were with the batting; I just think they look so much better!
If you're interested in purchasing a wipe case, they are $10.00 each. You can check out more at my website.

Mother's Day Gift Ideas: For the Baker

Jump for Joy- it's Friday!!!! I'm so excited, even though we have a busy weekend planned! We're taking Gretchen to see Peter Pan, the ballet, tonight! And tomorrow we have the spring football scrimage game, along with a celebration with the coaching staff and our annual shuffleboard tournament that night!

On to gift ideas! Does your mother like to cook? I've found two adorable items from Etsy that would make wonderful gifts for the baking mothers out there!
I found this matching mother/daughter apron set here. Unfortunatly, it's sold out, but Shancee offers other aprons in her store! You could always send this matching set to your mother, and give the other to your daughter, with a note saying "Can't wait to bake in the kitchen with you grandma".

Or, how about this adorable recipe box! I found it here. You can fill it with family favorite recipes, and blank index cards.
So, start browsing and start shopping for Mother's day! Buy homemade and support other family's and working/crafty mom's! Most of all, have a fantabulous weekend!

Mother's Day Gift Ideas: For the Coffee Drinker

Mother's Day is just a few weeks away! Have you started thinking about what to get your mom? I tend to wait until the last minute to come up with something, and then it has to be shipped! Not this year though! I'm thinking ahead and want to share some of my ideas with you all, in case you're procrastinating this year as i tend to do!

Today's gift ideas are for the mom who loves coffee! I found these two adorable items on Etsy. You can always pair these with gourmet coffee beans, a new coffee pot, or a Starbucks gift card! This mommy mug is only $18.00 and is glazed, so it's food and microwave safe! You can purchase it from Glyntpottery!
I think these coffee sleeves are adorable! They make me want to drink coffee, which I don't, but I just might if I had one of these! This one is only $6.50 and you can find it here.
If you're feeling a little craft, you can always make one of these by following this tutorial. Although, to save time, I'd much prefer to let someone else make it for me!
Stay tuned throughout the next several weeks- I'll have gift ideas for every mother with all price points!

Chicken & Broccoli Casserole: Recipe

I set out chicken yesterday for dinner and had no idea what I would cook with it. I wasn't in the mood for grilled chicken and veggies, so I searched for a recipe on Recipezaar and found this one.
Ingredients:
Chicken breasts, cooked & shredded (I boiled my chicken, and used 2 breasts)
Cooked Rice (I used 1 cup, but you can use up to 4)
Broccoli lightly steamed (mine were frozen)
1 can cream of chicken soup
1/2 c. mayonnaise (I used way less than this!)
1 can chicken broth
French Fried Onions
Cheddar Cheese
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Cook chicken breasts, reserve enough water to cook rice. I used instant whole grain rice.
3. Combine soup, mayo and broth in a sauce pan and heat until warm.
4. Add cheese to soup mixture and stir until melted.
5. Spray casserole dish. Mix together- chicken, rice, and soup mixture. Stir in a few french fried onions.
6. Top with more onions and cheese.
7. Bake 20-25 minutes or until bubbly.
There you have it! It's probably not the most healthiest casserole in the world, but this has been my most favorite so far! I loved the flavors of the soup mixture, and french fried onions make everything better!!!

Appliques and Burpies

I had some time to sew last night and finish up a few projects I've been working on.
I love the fabric on the burpie above. I just think preppy little boy when I see it!

I forgot why I originally purchased this ribbon, but it looks modern on this burpie.

The blue whale has to be one of my favorite applique's i've done this far!

I think the polk-a-dot fish is so cute for summer!

I'm so glad that some of my new products have allowed me to venture out for all of those cute little boys out there!

Thanks for letting me share!

Shutter Love

Trendy Treehouse is sponsoring Shutter Love Tuesday, so I thought I'd participate!

Sadly, my camera card is actually IN my camera and not shoved into the computer like it normally is, so I dug through my old files and found this picture of Gretchen when she was just 3 months old.

The theme for today's Shutter Love Tuesday is "pink", so here's my little honey in her pink hat and snuggled in with her pink blanket before we went out on a jog!

I promise, I'll have a more recent picture for next week's theme! Thanks TT for letting me link up!

About Me #3

After taking a break over the weekend, I wanted to spend some time tonight for the "about me" series.

So, you know that I make hair bows and children accessories, i'm married, and I have a 2 year old little girl.

What you may not know- I grew up in Arkansas. I lived with my mother and brother and only about 1/2 a mile down the road from my grandparents, aunts/uncles, and cousins.

I had a wonderful childhood. I'm still not sure how my mother managed to do it all, but I know she's an amazing woman for doing it! My grandparents owned a strawberry/peach/apple orchard, so we spent spring and early summer in the strawberry field. I know that nothing will ever taste better than a fresh picked strawberry- one that you simply rubbed the dirt off on your blue jeans!

We spent hotter days swimming in the creek. When your a kid life is much simpler, I wouldn't be caught dead swimming in a creak now! And, I prefer organic strawberries.

I took dance lessons through elementary school, and only played one year of softball. I'm still not good at sports, and I hope that Gretchen will be better, but I prefer that she takes dance! I'm hoping to start her lessons this fall or next winter.

In junior high and high school, I was on the dance team. I was captain my freshman and junior year, and to this day, I still believe I was jipped out of captain my senior year. But, that was the most fun year I ever had in school!

I went to college at Arkansas State, and majored in Communication Disorders. I was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority- and even though I think owls and panda's are cute, I can use them because they are the "mascots" of two rival sorority's. Isn't that silly, that I have that "rule". DJ would roll his eyes here...

I was a resident assistant in college and a hall director in graduate school. It was nice to have my own room in college since I had to live in the dorms, plus I received 1/2 off my tuition for graduate school!

DJ and I met the year I started graduate school and we were engaged after 4 months of dating. One year later we had a beautiful Christmas wedding. We saved money by doing almost all of the decorations ourselves- I'm so thankful for my mom and grandma for doing that for us!

7 weeks after we were married, we moved to Louisiana. As I look back on that time, it really was a great time in our lives, but I didn't appreciate it toward the end. We had great friends, good jobs, and we were close to our family, along with the wonderful Louisiana culture and food. But, as I stayed there while DJ settled us in Indiana, I began to hate the place! Only now, do I wish we could go back- not to live there, but just to the time.

We got pregnant with Gretchen shortly after we moved to Indiana, and we've had a great time here too. We've purchased our second home, have great jobs, and DJ feels that there is the potential to have tons to do around here- although, I tend to disagree! It stinks that we're far from family, but it has made us so much stronger as a couple and as a family.

I like to think that by the time Gretchen starts kindergarten we'll be able to move closer to family, and as I put it "below the Mason Dixon line". Which, I've found out that those in the North don't refer to it as that, nor do they remember the Civil War.

I know that by living here Gretchen will be raised in the best of both worlds- the north and the south, and she'll hopefully have the brains of the north and the grace of the south.

...... Stay tuned for the next "about me" post, just so you can know me better! Feel free to ask me any questions, to find out more!

Feeling Ick

Yes, it's one of those days. Well, it's been one of those days for the past two days. I have a bit of a stomach bug, and to spare you all of the details- it's not one of the worst ones I've had.

Thankfully, I haven't been too sick this year. I've made all of my students wash their hands before speech. I keep hand sanitizer close by. I take a multi-vitamin and vitamin D almost every day, and I've eaten several oranges over the last few days. You'd think by my doing all of that I wouldn't be sick.

So, I took the afternoon off from work yesterday, had full intentions of working this morning, and became nautious after being awake for only 15 minutes. So, I took the morning off and fell back asleep after DJ and Gretchen left. I woke up and not even 5 minutes later, felt the same as I did this morning, so I took the afternoon off as well.

I've been up in bed for the last 2 hours and my back is starting to hurt. I hate being sick. Although, the extra sleep is wonderful, especially with a 2 year old running around, I also have a house that needs to be cleaned and laundry to do. Hopefully, I can get some things done without being nautious this afternoon.

On the bright side, how can I gain weight right now? I've eaten two whole meals in the past two days! So, I'm kind of looking forward to any weight loss possibilities.

For the record- I'm not pregnant. I know that for a fact, even though my mother has asked me twice. DJ asked if she was disappointed. Her response, "you'll have another in your own time" with a hint of disappointment in her voice. Yes mother, I heard it!

This is a crummy time to be sick by the way. I have a meeting this afternoon to possibly get some of our Honey Pie items into a new boutique opening in town. Well, it will be our only boutique in this town! But, I'm excited and hopeful that it will all go well! I'm slowly trying to learn how to make ruffled butt onesies, but so far I haven't had the time to sew them. Maybe because i'm procrastinating with the ironing part.... I hate to iron. But, we will be adding knot dresses and baby-shower corsages to our inventory soon!

On top of this meeting, DJ's aunt and cousins are coming into town for the weekend. His aunt sells Celebrating Home items, and I'm hosting a party for her this weekend. If people aren't scared away by the fact that I've been sick!

I hope you all have a great weekend, I won't be around the bloggy world until next week, but enjoy it- at least enjoy it for me!

To those stopping over from Friday Follow- Welcome and take some time to look around; I promise I'll follow you back!
