Father's Day Gift Ideas

I've been planning this post for a week, and I'm just now getting around to writing it. Father's day is THIS Sunday, and I'm proud to say, I just have to pick up a gift card and get our cards in the mail to my dad and DJ's dad. My husband received his father's day gift (a custom golf club) back in April. We tend to do better with this holiday, than with Mother's day!

I also found these great ideas: I spotted this while reading through my blog roll today. You can find the directions to make this beer mug here. It's just butterscotch candy and marshmallows in a beer mug, but so cute!
I found this desk bowl on Etsy for only $16.00. You can find it here.
My husband and father-in-law both love to grill. I think these custom spice jars are a neat idea, and it's only $12.00 for the set of 4. You can find it here.
We only have a daughter, but this sign would be neat for anyone with a boy and a girl. It's only $8.95, and you can find it here.

Need some more frugal (or fast) ideas?
~Take your child's photo with dad's favorite object- a soccer ball, football, etc.
~ Purchase a "D", and an "A" wood letters from a craft store, and take your child's picture with the letter "D" two times, and the letter "A" one time. Frame the pictures in a 3 photo frame to spell "DAD".
~ Head on over to DLTK-kids and print off some great Father's day craft projects to do with the kids this week! (I really like their foot prints poem)
~ Make your dad or hubby a candy bouquet, or just fill a bucket with some of his favorite goodies.
~ Have your kids make a homemade card.
Most importantly, let dad relax for the day and remind him what a great father and husband that he is!

A few more: appliques

Being a SAHM for the summer, has allowed me to also have more time for my home business. Which, is a great thing! And, also leads me to post about it, rather than post other things. I have sent out more orders this month, than I have in previous months combined! I love how busy I am with my family and with my projects!

Plus, I started to list items on my facebook page for reduced prices, which has in turn made business perk up!

Here are a few applique's that I've made recently.
I've had this zebra high heel cut out for a while, and when I listed it at a reduced price, it finally sold! I'm so glad that the buyer also wanted the hot pink stitching around the shoe, because a stiletto zebra just HAS to have hot pink! I also think it would be cute with "shoe diva" monogrammed on the shirt, but I've yet to purchase my own monogramming machine (hint, hint, hubby!)

I also had a request to do a 4th of July applique. What's better than a flag for the fourth? And, I had the chance to do two of these bad boys, because I sewed the back of the shirt to the front of the shirt with the first one. Which, meant, I had to go buy another shirt! I'm thinking I could've done fireworks with the same material and it would've turned out just as cute!

And, finally, I LOVE this little buckeroo bandana! I've had the fabric for a while, and it hit me one day, to make a bandana out of the shirt! One of my high school friends, ended up purchasing it for her little boy. I think some sort of ye-haw country phrase should be monogrammed on this shirt as well, but it's just so darlin'!

These were all shipped out yesterday, so I'm excited to see these little honey's in their custom shirts!!!
And, I promise, I'll eventually get around to posting something other than business stuff!!! I DO have a fun weekly series, that I want to start, but since I'll be out of the blogging world for most of July- I'm going to wait until August- yes, you have to wait that long!!!

Mickey & Minnie applique's

A few weeks ago, I promised Gretchen that I would make her a Minnie Mouse shirt. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is her all-time favorite t.v. show at the ripe old age of 2! She has a pair of Minnie Mouse jammies, that she got in March, and on several occassions, she's begged me to let her wear them to the sitter's.

I also decided to make Mickey Mouse, because, let's face it- you can't have one without the other!
And, here's her Minnie Mouse shirt! I'm going to add a real bow to this Minnie, that will attach with a safety pin, and I'm going to make her a matching hair bow.

And, here she is modeling her Minnie Mouse shirt! Sorry, she's sideways- just tilt your head a little!

And, all this coming from a lady, who SWORE her child would never wear character clothing! At least it's boutique quality!!!

Satisfied Honey's: Taylon

I want to introduce you to Taylon! My husband and I were friends with her dad while we were in college, and I keep in touch with her mom through facebook. She messaged me and requested a Cardinals dress and hair bow for Taylon's pictures that were being made as a Father's day gift.

Her pictures turned out wonderfully! I'm sure her dad will be so happy to get these!

I couldn't decide which was my favorite pose! I love that the top one shows off all of her dress.
But, I also love this close up and mix of colors in the above photo and how they show off her bow and dress.
Ms. Taylon- you look fabulous! Enjoy your custom outfits by Honey Pie Accessories and give your daddy an extra big hug and kiss this Sunday!

Chapstick Coloring

This is NOT a part of our Teaching Tots series! I do not encourage coloring with chapstick. However, my daughter does! I left her in our bedroom last evening with Mickey Mouse turned on, while I took my husband a glass of coke since he was mowing our yard. I came back in and found this:
Mommy- my lips are chaped too!

When she was finished, she turned and said "ta-da!"
Does anyone know how I can get chapstick off my mirror?

Teaching Tots: G &C

We're still playing catch up on our Teaching Tots daily lessons, but I'm hoping to catch up a bit this week. However, my daughter colored on our wall today, so she has lost crayon privlages- at least- all unsupervised crayon privlages. On Saturday we talked about the color green and "g is for grapes". I let her color this grape picture with her green crayons. We didn't have any grapes in the house, but they would've made a great addition to her lunch or snack that day!
We made a fuzzy caterpillar for the letter 'c'. Gretchen helped me break apart cotton balls and we glued them on the letter 'c' that she already colored.
I'm finding that she is loving the crafty projects more so than just the coloring pages, so I'm trying to incorporate those more!

Rotel Chicken Spaghetti

This is one of our favorite meals, so I thought I would share it (and the variations) with y'all!

Ingredients: 1 can rotel, 1 can cream of chicken soup, boiled chicken, spaghetti noodles, mexican blend cheese. Boil your chicken, and cut up. Place into a casserole dish. Reserve the water that you boiled the chicken in and cook your spaghetti in the same water.
Add a can of rotel (tomatoes w/ green chilis) and a can of cream of chicken soup in your casserole dish and stir together.
Add the cooked spaghetti.
Top with the mexican cheese blend.
Bake in the oven at 350 for about 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Voila!
For variations- omit the rotel, and add cream of mushroom soup and frozen veggies (broccoli or green peas work great), you can also add puree squash to sneak in a veggie!

Hair bows as of Late

While, my husband has been away at high school football camps, I've had a chance to work on bows after Gretchen goes to bed!

Here are a few I did this past weekend:
A 4th of July pigtail set!

I double layered the boutique bow; it has lime green on the under side!

I've had this pollymer clay center for several months, but just got around to using it in a bow! I'm loving it!

I've also had this flower center for a while. I decided to double layer the boutique bow, with yellow on the underside and added a yellow spray.

I haven't made pinwheel bows in a while, but I'm glad I've gotten back into it over the last few days. They're just so easy, but they look great!

To see all of my hair bows, check out my website or search for Honey Pie Accessories on Facebook.

Teaching Tots- L is for Lamb

Today we did a little arts and crafts project, as we discussed our letters of the alphabet. I found this lamb image on dltk-kids and printed it off. I cut it out, and let Gretchen choose which color construction paper she wanted to glue it on to. Today, I let her help me squeeze the glue, and I showed her how to turn it over and stick it on the paper. I wrote "Ll is for Lamb" with a sharpie on the top, and she knew that there were two "l's" on the page.
Next, she glued cotton balls onto the lamb. We talked about the cotton balls being soft, and how things like her table are hard. We also talked about how sticky the glue was. It's important to discuss adjectives when talking to your child- try to fit them in wherever you can, even if it's just stating the color or shape of an object!
She really had a great time completing this project! And, was able to "pet" the lamb afterward!
