Stay Home Day

I somehow convinced G to stay home from school on Monday. I think that last week, she was a little jealous that MC and I stayed home together, so I told her if she would stay home with me that we would go to the park and have a fun girls day.

However, on Friday, she told me that she didn't want to stay home that she wanted to go to school. I love that she loves school, her teacher, and her friends, and I hope that it stays that way. But, she's also just in preschool, and goes 5 days a week, so I knew it wouldn't hurt her if she stayed home with me.

On Monday morning, she didn't ask about school, until well after breakfast. She was a little disappointed at first, once she found out that it wasn't a stay home day for everyone, but once I told her our plans for the day, she was ok.

We spent the morning cleaning up the house, and then we got dressed. When MC woke up from her nap, we went to Chick-Fil-A for lunch.
MC's school is celebrating Lutheran school week, and if we ate at CFA, their school would get a portion. We shared chicken nuggets, fries, and a fruit bowl.
Poor MC had to watch us eat our delicious chicken!

I let G play on their play area for a while and then we grabbed her a balloon an deposited our receipt so her school could get credit.
We were on our way to the park, but when we drove by Bass Pro, I thought it would be fun for us to go in and look at the fish.
G also test drove four wheelers.
And tried out boats.

We finally got to the park and I was able to feed MC while G played.
After G played on the big playground for a while, we took MC over to the smaller one with baby swings. G was excited to push MC in the swing, but her excitement didn't last long. After a minute or two, G ran off again to play.
This was the first time MC got to 'play' at the park, and I think she had fun!

After the park, we ran home and let Bailey out, and then went to Target. G had a toy from her birthday party that we needed to return and she received a gift card from her aunt and uncle. She ended up picking out a La La Loopsy ferris wheel and two of their dolls.

Can someone help me out by telling me what La La Loopsy actually is? Is it a t.v. show or just the toys? They're super cute, but I have no idea where the toys are coming from.

Anyway, we had a great day. The weather was fantastic, G was well behaved, MC was happy. I told DJ that it made me want to stay home every day with the girls!

Spring is in the Air-Weekend Re-Cap

I love how our weather is warming up and that the girls and I can get outside and enjoy it. I kept telling myself, that if I could make it to March, that winter here in Oklahoma should be over with, and I did it! Well, we did it!

I made a crock pot chicken for dinner Friday night, but to my surprise DJ came home and told me to get ready- he hired a babysitter and planned us a date night! We enjoyed a delicious crab cake appetizer, steak dinner, au gratin potatoes, and creme brule' for desert at a fabulous restaurant here in T-town.

DJ had a coaches clinic all day Saturday, so the girls & I stayed home and cleaned the house.
MC is finally starting to feel better again and she's wanting to stand by everything. If I try to sit her down, she locks her legs, and refuses to bend.

Sunday morning, DJ got up and headed to my parents house to pick up our dog! The house that we are renting, had a no pets policy, but we've been here for a year and when we renewed our lease, the owners agreed for our dog to return!

While DJ was gone, the girls & I headed to TJ Maxx to purchase a new dog bed and a few other new pet supplies.
We also went to the pet store, and G had lots of fun checking out the fish, hamsters, and birds. She really wanted to take a bird home with her and begged to have two pets!

When we got home, we enjoyed the sunny weather for a bit.
G rode her scooter.
And we picked bunny rabbit flowers. (These are actually weeds, but if you look real close, it looks like a bunny. My grandma always told me that when these "flowers" appeared, Easter was coming!)
G played with her ponys in the grass.
I was just enjoying the weather!

We came inside and started picking up the house again and getting all of Bailey's things ready for her to come home.
G had to try out the new dog bed!

We also had our neighbor over Sunday night, while her parents went to an event at their church. The girls watched Mulan and had nachos and popcorn.
After MC went to bed I painted their toes and nails. This was the very first time that DJ has agreed for G to paint her fingernails, and of course, she had to do her nails in different colors just like our neighbor!
And, here's our Bailey dog- finally back with us and we're finally a family of 5 again! Poor DJ, he's the only boy in this house!
Looking forward to a fabulous week as well! Hope y'all had a great weekend too!

Belt It-Mommy Fashion Monday

Here's one of my outfits of the day (OOTD) from last week.

I pulled out a pair of boot cut jeans from the Gap. They're a darker wash, and a fairly wide leg, plus, thanks to loosing some of the baby weight, they're a bit big in the waist. But, I still wear them, because they're super comfy!
I added a grey tank top that is a Vera Wang brand that I purchased from Kohl's a few years ago. Topped off with a wide belt from New York & Company and a cable knit sweater from Gap (I've had this sweater for years!)

I'm a firm believer that if you shop wisely, your clothes shouldn't go in and out of style. Purchase a few "fad" pieces every year, but for more expensive pieces of clothes, purchase clothes that you know will last and not go out of style!

My shoes are from Marshall's and I purchased them last Friday. They are coral ballet flats that cost all of $30.00 and the soles have extra cushion in them, so they're supportive and allow me to keep up with the kids! Plus, I love the pop of color they add, which is so important for pulling off a spring look!

What was one of your favorite outfits this past week?

Hair, Prayers, & 9 months

I got my hair cut yesterday after chewing on the idea for a few weeks. Here's the before: This is the absolute longest my hair has ever been.

And, here's the after:

Eek! It's short! (This isn't the greatest picture of my self either, and I feel as if I look older.)
MC turned 9 months last Friday, and this time, I actually was able to put her in the same white onesie, add her onesie sticker, and snap a few pictures!
I should've planned better, and posted a newborn vs. 9 month picture. She's wearing the exact same onesie! I'm shocked that I can still snap it and that it still fits. But, she's also a tiny little thing, weighing in around 16 lbs.
She's been sick again, and as soon as I write this, i'm getting her up from her nap and taking her back to the pediatrician. I might as well invest in their stock, because we've been to the doctor more times than I would've liked in the past 2 months. She has a cold that has settled in her eyes, and you can see how red and puffy they are in the picture above.

On the bright side, we've gotten a lot of cuddle time!

The urge to pray has hit me hard over the last few days and I just wanted to share a few requests:.
~ Pray that the doctors can give us some insight on Megan and why she's been so sick. I know it's just a cold, but it's so hard when she's so miserable.
~ A friend of ours (her son) is having surgery today to replace tubes in his ears.
~ Another online friend, just found out that her grandmother is sick and in the hospital with tests needing to be done.
~ Pray for the town of Branson, Mo and that they are able to rebuild and recuperate for their upcoming vacation season. The shows and parks should be reopening in March, but they may be delayed. I have a friend that lives 30 minutes from there and she knows people that have lost things.
~ Pray that DJ and I can find and agree upon a church here in Tulsa. We've been visiting many churches and we have yet to find that fit for our family, and it's something that I'm struggling with.
~ Pray that a buyer will come along for our house in Indiana. It's not currently on the market, and it is being rented, but the renter may move out in a few months. So pray that our house could sell, or that he will renew his lease for another 6 months.

Enjoy your day and week. I hear the weather here is suppose to hit close to 80 tomorrow and i'm looking forward to it!

Pinterest Fashion Finds

Thanks for joining me for the 2nd week of mommy style! I'm wishing that I could purchase all of the outfits that I have pinned on Pinterest, but I can't. With two girls in daycare, buying their clothes for spring & summer, and planning MC's first birthday, there's not much extra room in the budget. But, I do plan on using these outfits as style inspiration this spring. When thinking spring, think about adding pops of color. We've all been hearing the term "color blocking", which is just a way of saying to add unexpected pops of color and pair them together!

The turquoise scarf and earrings in the outfit above, give just a touch of color pop. You can find scarves at Target for around $14.00, and find a pair of matching earrings, because I promise, I won't be spending the $1,160.00 that those beauties cost! Jeans are easy to come by, because I know you have a pair in your closet. I just picked up a white shirt from Target this past week for $8.00. And, those shoes, are only $15.00 from Forever 21!
I absolutely adore the yellow handbag in the outfit above. I saw a similar purse at Marshalls on Friday, and almost picked it up, but my purse of choice is my diaper bag at the moment! You can also get a grey t-shirt at Target for $8.00, and I already own a pair of red flats and earrings. Although, if you don't have the earrings, they're a deal at only $5.00
Finally, my last color inspiration for this spring is the green and blue. I wouldn't of thought to pair this color combination on my own, but I love the nautical feel of it. The blue cardigan comes from Target, while the scarf and purse are Kate Spade. The shoes are only $30.00 at Zara.com, but I think this outfit would also be perfect on a rainy day when paired with a pair of navy rain boots!

What colors do you plan to color block this fall? And, tune next week to see if I could recreate any of these looks from what I found in my closet!

Before you go, head over to this post and help me decide if I should chop my hair or not!

Thanks to Pinterest and Polyvore.com for these photos.

Happy 9 months!

MC has been in this world for the same amount of time that she was in my belly. That is so hard to believe!

This last month has been tough with MC, and I've been more convinced than ever that we were done having children. She was home for 2 weeks straight. One because the grandmother's were here and kept her for a week, and the next week because she was sick. I think those weeks were exhausting because she was clingy and fussy, but, she was sick. I'm so glad she's feeling better, because this week has made me remember that she really is a happy baby!
I stayed home with her on Monday, and we enjoyed playing together. She is crawling (army style) all over the house. She made it from our living room to our kitchen, which is basically the entire length of our house.
She's also wanting to stand, although she's not pulling herself up to stand yet. But, if you place her where she can hold on to something, she'll stand there for about 10 seconds or so.
I picked her up around 1:30 today and we went shopping. She sat in the front of the buggy, which is rare, since G's always up there. She was just so good shopping and even helped me pick out a new pair of shoes and a birthday gift for her cousin!

Happy 9 months MC!

To Cut or Not To Cut???

It's time for a hair cut. My hair hasn't been cut since November, and that's pathetic. Raise your hand if you put yourself on the back burner too?

I was recently informed by my dear husband that he doesn't like my current hair style. It's a bit too long for his taste. I guess he's not into the hair swinging around and having something to, um, grab on to.

So, I called last night and made an appointment for Tuesday, and I'm kind of freaking out, because I'm going to have to chop off this:
This is the longest my hair has been, in, um, forever. I think I have been growing it out for the last year and a half. And, I do love it. And, I love being able to put it in a ponytail or messy up-do when I don't feel like messing with it or when it's driving me crazy after a long work day.

So, I've been perusing Pinterest for new hair styles and I've narrowed it down to two.
This sassy, super short cut, which I think would be fabulous for spring & summer (yes y'all, I know it's a few weeks away, but it's also been near 80 the last two days!)

Although, I've heard that this style is hard to fix. I was just thinking I could wash, blow dry, and straighten and be out the door with it. Although, I would no longer have my messy up-dos.
Or, I could play it safe, and go with this style. I could still have the pony tails and up-do's.

So, help a sister out- cut it off or play it safe???

Mommy Fashion Monday

I thought it would be fun to start a new weekly post! And, if I can plan ahead, I think I can manage it! I know as a mom, that is still trying to loose the baby bulge (see my I want to loose it posts) it's so hard to find clothes that are fashionable and that cover without looking baggy.

This is what I put on Saturday to go to the grocery store and Target with the girls:
I'm wearing my hair up, because I didn't want to mess with it, and I'm loving messy up-do's right now. I'm also wearing a pair of dangling turquoise earrings that I received as a gift about 6 years ago!

My white shirt is a Favorite Tee from Gap Outlet, that cost between 6-9.00 on sale. I'm wearing a beige cardigan from Banana Republic that I purchased from the outlet store in November. I'm also wearing a skinny belt that I purchased in September from New York & Company. I love to wear a belt like this because it can define a waist while allowing the cardigan to cover.

My jeans are from the Levi Outlet, and I purchased those in November. I love rolled up jeans, and I've been sporting this look for the past few years. I really hope it's a look that doesn't go out of style, because it makes me feel more casual.

My shoes are a red ballet flat that I purchased from TJ Maxx. They are a Jessica Simpson brand and I love them! I get compliments on these shoes every time I wear them, and I love adding a pop of color (especially red) to my outfits.

I had originally added a red scarf as well, but I decided that I didn't want to wear a scarf while I was carrying MC in the bjorn around the grocery store. It would have been entirely too bulky. But, I'd remove the belt and wear the scarf when I didn't have to carry a baby on my hip!

Alright mommy's, stay tuned! I hope to bring you some fashionable and affordable ideas and would love for you to join me in posting your own Mommy Fashion Moments on your blogs!

Friday Family Night

La La La La La La....... we had family movie night tonight and I so much enjoyed it! G has done so well at sleeping in her own bed every night this week that I decided we would rent a movie after school today and that we would have a family movie night!

We went to the movie store and we narrowed our choices down to the Smurfs, Rio, or Charlotte's Web.
G finally settled on The Smurfs, and I was kind of excited because I love Neil Patrick Harris (even though he has a little sugar in his britches) I so remember watching him growing up and thinking he was a hottie (still is!)

DJ got home from work and we made tacos & cheese dip and enjoyed a not so quiet family dinner thanks to MC. Once the dishes were cleaned up and MC went to bed we popped popcorn and turned on our movie.

I told G earlier in the day that for family movie night we'd eat popcorn and snuggle together on the couch. She equally snuggled with both DJ, in his chair, and me, on the couch.

When we lived in Indiana, we would rent movies almost every weekend! I realized, while we were at the video store, that we hadn't rented movies and cuddled up in almost a year! It was so refreshing to just slow down, enjoy each other, and share a few laughs!

And, if you haven't seen the Smurfs, I do recommend it!

How did you spend your Friday night?
