Weekend Wrap Up

Friday night, my brother, sister in law, and niece came to Tulsa for a little visit! I was so glad that they could finally get up here and spend some time with us!

Gretchen had her school carnival that evening so we all decided to go. Gretchen enjoyed seeing her little friends and I was excited to meet some of them and their parents. We even found out that our pastors children go to school with Gretchen and we finally introduced ourselves to him... i'm kind of ashamed to admit that- ha!

Gretchen made a mad dash for the inflatable bounce houses but the other two girls were a little afraid. The carnival wasn't really meant for toddlers, and in the end the girls decided that just playing on the play ground was more fun.

Every day, Gretchen talks about how she wanted to play on the digger at recess. She tells me that there is always such a long line, that little boys will cut in front of her, and I think she's only played on it once. That day she was so excited to let me know that she finally had a chance to play on the digger!

She was super excited to finally show it to me and play on it at the carnival.

After the carnival, we came home, gave the girls a bath and sent them all straight to bed!

We watched the SJSU and Utah St. football game and I impressed the boys with my knowledge of football..... go ahead, ask me anything!

Saturday morning we headed to the Tulsa aquarium. Our family membership has been the best gift we received last Christmas! We've been able to use it three times this year, and i'm sure we'll use it a few more times before the year is over. It may get old to the adults seeing some of the same things over and over again, but the girls act like it's all new every time.

We ate a late lunch at Los Cabos -yum- and then came home so the girls could have naps. I helped my brother work on his labrador retriever training website, and then they headed home.

I spent the rest of the afternoon sewing, and then I heard a loud crash and crying! Meggie and Gretchen were in our bedroom watching t.v., and my little climber, Megan somehow pulled our t.v. on top of her.

Thankfully, DJ was downstairs with the girls, and he was able to recover her, and only her fingers were smashed up a bit.
We gave her an ice pack, tylenol, and band aids, and lots of TLC and within an hour she was herself again.

Sunday we got up and went to church. It's the first time that we've been since the beginning of the month. Late nights with football and sicknesses have kept us home, so i'm glad we were able to go Sunday morning.

I dressed the big girls in their chevron pumpkin dresses that my mom made and asked DJ to get some pictures while I fed Addy before we left.

The pictures crack me up. We might get one good picture of one girl. I couldn't choose just one picture to share, because these all just cracked me up.

Meggie is jumping in this picture. Oh my.

And, Gretchen always asks to do something silly, so we let her at the end, so long as she cooperates. Today, she wanted to take a picture with her fairy houses.
After church, DJ went to work and I brought the girls home for lunch and naps. I was so tired, but I decided to watch Troop Beverly Hills with Gretchen. Does anyone remember this movie?
It was on last weekend and I DVRd it. It's about as classic as Saved By the Bell, and never gets old.

I ended up taking a little nap after the movie, but then Addy and Meggie woke up. The girls spent the rest of the day playing, I tried to get some sewing done, but then it was time to prepare for Monday, which is just so exhausting! I think i've decided that Sunday nights are the worst nights of the week.

What about you, do you hate Sunday nights as much as I do?

Birthdays, Bibs, & Turkeys Galore!

Last week, I was able to complete and ship several of your order! I just cannot say it enough how blessed I am with my part time position right now. My husband may not agree, but I am definitely happier right now and my stress level is way down.

I had a friend from high school contact me about making birthday shirts for two little sisters that are foster children living in their home. They both have October birthdays, so she's throwing them a joint birthday party, and I was so excited that she asked me to create something for the girls to wear!

I love this little applique design, and I have numbers 1-9 available.

Every year I make my girls a birthday shirt to wear to school; something that is separate from their party outfit; a shirt that they choose and they love. One year, Gretchen had a crown, the next year a number five, and Meggie had a lemonade shirt this past year. I think this year, I'll use these numbers for their special school shirts.

If you'd like to order one, please let me know!
Because I was so touched with Leah's story, I gifted her little girls hair bows to wear on their special day.

I participated in a facebook page giveaway at Maverick Designs earlier in September. The winner contacted me and asked if she could switch up her prize. I was giving away a ruffled shirt, and Ms. Wendy, was just so sweet and had just had her first grandson. She obviously could not use a ruffled shirt!

I happily obliged to let her change her prize, partly because I hadn't had a chance to make what she wanted in a while, and because it gave me the chance to embroider!
She received this adorable bib lined with minky dot, and a matching pacifier clip.

I hope her first grandson loves them!

I know that we went through several pacifier clips with Meggie, and if Adalyn is anything like her sisters; she'll need a few as well!

I have a dear friend whose little girls have birthdays in October (I think there's a birthday theme going on in this post!) and rather than buying them toys, I decided to make the girls matching shirts. I talked to  Sarah, the momma, and she requested Thanksgiving shirts for the girls.

She also has a little boy, and I just could not leave him out! So, I made him this turkey tie shirt.
For Ella, the oldest, I made her this little girl turkey shirt. I wanted to use a color combination that was a little unexpected, and I love the coral and turquoise combination and how this shirt turned out!
Baby G, will also have a shirt that matches Ms. Coral Turkey, but her's will be reversed.

Of course, they're getting m2m hair bows as well:
My mom made G and MC dresses for this fall, and I made them matching hair bows. I cannot wait to show y'all the dress, and i'll let you in on a little secret.... the dresses will be added to inventory Spring 2014!
I decided to use our embroidery software and make my own design and it didn't turn out quite as I had expected. I'm in love with the fabric, the colors, and the "M", but for some reason, I offset the "M" and the wording is centered, but it just looks off. I'm not sure why I did that in the program, but I'm glad that I know how to fix it for future orders, and I do love the idea of the design.
This week i'll be completing a girly ghost appliqué, a few more magic Christmas pillowcases, and i'm hoping that i'll have trick-or-treat bags being delivered!

As always, please 'like' my facebook page, and feel free to pin any of my images giving credit to HPA!

Y'all have a great day and thank you so much for reading!

UPDATE!!!!!

Erika over at "A Little Bit of Everything" is hosting a giveaway today!!! You must go check out this stylish mama's blog and enter to win a headband from HPA!

Tid bits & Randoms of Last Week

I feel so bad that I'm now doing weekly catch up posts rather than daily catch up posts! We are finally in a routine and schedule and so far, it's working out fairly well. I think Gretchen is well adjusted to the school routine, as is Megan, and Addy is still getting use to things, but it's hard when she's at daycare every other day.

Last Monday was the first day that I actually met most of my speech kiddos and started therapy. I think it's going to be a great year!

Monday afternoon, I picked up all of the girls, and as soon as we get home, I sit down to feed Adalyn. Megan crawled up in my lap too, and was extra cuddly Monday afternoon. She was also extra whiny because she has had a cold and over the weekend had run about a 99 degree temp. Nothing big, but enough to make her feel bad.
I didn't feel like cooking Monday night, and Gretchen wanted hot dogs. I decided that since it was such a nice fall day, we'd have chili dogs. I'm not ashamed to admit that I opened up a can of chili that had been in my pantry for seriously too long, and made myself a chili dog.
And, it was dang good.

I kept Megan and Addy home on Tuesday. I usually go to Bible study Tuesday morning, but since Megan wasn't feeling good Monday night, I decided to keep her home with me. I realized that afternoon, I should've just sent her to daycare. She would have been fine. Man she was whiny all day long.

Megan and Addy had school pictures a few weeks ago, and we received the proofs to order pictures from:

I'm pretty sure we won't be ordering any.

Thankfully, we had pictures taken over the summer, by the so talented Madison Vining of Madison Vining Photography. so I don't feel bad about not buying these. They're hysterical and I'll keep the proofs just to show Megan what her personality was at age 2. I'm now debating even ordering pictures of Gretchen when her school pictures are taken later this week.

Wednesday night, Gretchen had children's choir. Megan was able to play on the playground before we headed home and we let G stay for Wednesday Night Live and DJ picked her up. She's been begging to stay for WNL, and finally on a night where it was a little more convenient, they chose to let the big kids play outside and have sno cones rather than hold worship. G was in Heaven. I think we'll have to let her stay again on a worship night!

Meggie climbed this, and for the record, G didn't climb one until she was 3. Megan's my little monkey climber.

Thursday was TU's home game against Iowa State. I won't even go into details about the game #didnotturnoutwell #welost. But, G wore her "Tulsa Girl" dress and bow that I made her and her chunky necklace from LG's Necklaces (you can find them on facebook).
She also wore her pink Nike's. Bless her.

She later said, "Did you get my Nike's in the picture mom?" "No, hun, I did not." "Well, thanks because if you put it online, people would laugh at me since I don't match."

#shehasthatright

I kind of regret buying her pink nikes, because that's all she wants to wear. Have I mentioned she wears dresses or skirts almost every day?

Nikes and dresses just don't go together.

Stay tuned for Friday's re-cap with my weekend wrap up posts! It was a great one!
