New Years Eve

New Year's Eve day started as a typical day for us. DJ and Meggie watched football together in the morning.

Meggie acted like her crazy silly self.

Gretchen helped me clean, and was a little silly herself!
Adalyn and I met a friend for lunch then ran a few errands.

Once we got home, Addy snuggled up with me and took a nap.

Later that day, DJ started smoking ribs and I started cooking for our New Year's Eve party.
I say over and over again that we have the best neighbors! They came over for our little New Year's Eve party, and one of my best friends came with her three kids! The girls had fun putting on a little singing performance for us.
I grabbed little Timmy for a hug. He's the reason, I've met Sarah (his mom), my dear friend. (She was the one I met for lunch earlier in the day.) Timmy was one of my speech kiddos when we first moved to Oklahoma. I'm so glad that God put them in my life!
Meggie and I on New Year's Eve.

My sweetheart and I. Glad I got to celebrate at home with this guy this year!
This is my neighbor, Carmen. I was teaching her how to hashtag.

We all ate dinner, had a little wine, and the kids played upstairs. We played a game, and then I got the girls in their pj's, and I put pj's on myself before we counted down to 2014.

We gathered the kids downstairs  for the count down. Talon gave kisses to everyone. (he's in the blue)

At this point, I think Meggie had had enough and was ready for bed.

I grabbed the silly girl for our first picture of 2014.

This year i'll be trying to document our life in a fun way through instagram! You can follow me @ewelte, and view my pictures with #weltegram2014

The Aquarium & Andolini's

Last weekend when DJ's parents were in town, we decided to make a trip to the Oklahoma Aquarium. We have family passes, and love getting to take the girls! DJ and I agreed that Saturday may have been one of our best visits, because the fish were all so active and there weren't many people visiting!
Trying to feel the shrimp. And yes, that is Meggie licking her hand after putting it in the water.
I think these are sand crabs or something. Gretchen was trying to reach one.
Feeding the turtles.
Meggie found this little nook to see the turtles and climbed inside of it.
Gretchen seeing if she measures up!

Of course, Gretchen wanted to do this photo booth and her grandparents obliged.
The girls playing in the photo booth again.

Addy was happy being carried through the aquarium. She sucked her thumb and took a little nap.
Meggie and daddy.
Family picture.
Every time we leave, the girls have to sit on the alligator outside of the aquarium.

We were starving after we left, so we headed to downtown to eat at Andolini's pizza. We took DJ's parents before when they were visiting, and they enjoyed it so much they asked to go back! It was about a 45 minute wait, but garlic knots were passed out, and the girls were given pizza dough to play with, so the wait wasn't too bad!
The girls kept playing with their dough when we got to the table.
The grown ups may have played too.
Miss Addy doesn't match, but she can eat her toes! When we arrived to the aquarium, we found out that  she had a blowout. Of course, being as prepared as I am, I had no pants for her! So we changed her diaper, and then left her in her shirt at the aquarium. Thankfully, I had an open sweater on, so I was able to cover her little legs while we were outside. I went to Kohls afterwards to buy her some pants to wear!

Lesson learned, you're never as prepared as you think you are!

We had such a fun day out! The weather was gorgeous, the fish were swimming, the pizza was yummy, and the company was amazing!

A Welte Family Christmas: With Pops and Grandma Dee

DJ's dad and stepmom arrived on Friday for us to celebrate Christmas together! The girls were so excited to have their grandparents here! We haven't seen them in 6 months, since Adalyn was born.
They gave the girls a Snoopy Sno-Cone Machine.

Adalyn just wanted to eat her present. She was given a recordable book read to her by her grandparents.

Gretchen and Megan both received school scrap books where we can document every school year from preschool through their senior year.

After we opened presents, we tried out the sno-cone machine!

The girls loved their sno-cones.

We spent the rest of the day hanging out and playing. DJ made gumbo, and then the grown ups watched a movie once the girls went to bed.

Saturday, we went to the Tulsa Aquarium and then to eat pizza.

They left early Sunday morning, and we got the girls ready for church.
The girls wore their Christmas dresses since we didn't get to go to church the Sunday before Christmas (both girls had a tummy bug.)

We had such a fun weekend!

A Welte Family Christmas: Christmas Day Afternoon

Happy 1st day of 2014! In the next few days, i'll be taking a look back at 2013, but I still need to finish wrapping up my Christmas posts! Yes, y'all, i'm sorry, we are still wrapping up all things Christmas around here!
But, I hope you rang in the New Year with style and sass and a glass of wine. I can assure you, I would've rather been catching my zzz's in bed!

…………………………………………………………………………………………...
After we let Adalyn open her gifts, we all started the rounds of taking showers, getting dressed, and fixing Christmas lunch. I absolutely took no pictures during that time, but I assure you we had a fabulous lunch of ham, hash brown casserole, and green beans served with crescent rolls.

Thanks to my momma for doing all of the cooking!
Gretchen played her new video game. A lot. Like, almost all day long. Which, is one reason we've held out to her being almost 6 years old before she received a video gaming system.
Addy and I tried taking a nap on the couch.

DJ and I my stepdad watched movie.

Megan napped, and G rested upstairs.

After we all had a second wind of energy, we went outside for the girls to play.
Gretchen roder her bike.

And Meggie rode her scooter.

Then, we came back inside to open stockings.

DJ and I have a really bad habit of getting all of the gifts opened, and then remembering that we have yet to open stockings. Since we forgot right after presents, we decided that we better wait until my brother, sister in law, and niece left, so my niece wouldn't be jealous of the girls opening their stockings.
We all took turns. Adalyn went first. She received some teething toys, restaurant placemats, and puffs.
Then it was Gretchen's turn. She received a water bottle, play-doh, and Sofia the first lip gloss and nail polish.

Meggie decided to open her stocking while still wearing her new Minnie Mouse helmet. She received pretty much the same things as Gretchen…. play-doh, Sofia chapstick, and a butterfly necklace.
Then, it was my turn. I received a new make up brush, hershey kisses, 5 lint rollers, a filtered water bottle, and peanut butter cup trees. Apparently, Santa does not want me to keep my New Years Resolution of getting back in shape, but he wants my pants to be lint free!
DJ was given a Football cookbook, because, you know, he has time to cook during football season!
The most ginormous peanut butter cup I've ever seen. And y'all, we just finished eating some of it, and it was so rich! And, I love chocolate, and anything rich tasting, but man, that was too much.
He also received a cookie scoop for when we bake cookies. We had one and it broke, and he's griped about it ever since, so Santa brought him a new one!
Then we attempted a family picture!

After enjoying a few left overs for dinner, my parents headed back to Arkansas and we cleaned up, and got Addy and Meggie in the bed.
DJ and Gretchen stayed up to work on her lego house.

I think I have one more Christmas wrap up post for y'all tomorrow, and then it's on to new and fun! I swear y'all!
