Lake Days

Last weekend, we visited DJ's dad and stepmom at their house on the lake. We always love visiting because it's relaxing and the girls always have a blast! And, hey, visiting his family isn't so bad either!

When we arrived on Friday night it was raining, and we almost cancelled our trip because there was a threat of rain the entire weekend. But, we woke up Saturday morning and the sun was shining! By 8:03, the girls were in their swimsuits and ready to go!
I picked up their swimsuits at Old Navy last week. I tried to link them, but can't find them online! Boo!
DJ's dad put a slide in on the dock this year, and Gretchen loved it! Megan wasn't so sure, so she spent most of the time hanging out on the ladder.
Adalyn just wanted to add extra sunscreen and play on the boat.
The water was cool, but the girls couldn't wait to tube! Gretchen went by herself and then would go with Megan. Megan wasn't brave enough to swim by herself.
By Saturday afternoon, I had lots of sun on my back and had to cover up.
We came in for lunch and a swim suit change.
And then Gretchen insisted on trying out the rope swing. Pops installed the swing last year with DJ's help, but he didn't get around to building the platform, so DJ had to help her.

Sunday morning, we slept late, had brunch, and then hit the lake again.
Adalyn thought she wanted to tube too. She and I went on a little ride, but she didn't love it just yet! However, she didn't mind just sitting on the tube in the water.
And, she applied more sunscreen.
Addy and I just chilling on the boat.
By Sunday afternoon, we had all gotten in the water, and had to take a little after picture.
While we were swimming, the girls hung out on the ladder.

So sweet.
My big girl and I. Gretchen loves being at the lake! She takes after her daddy!
Meggie insisted on wearing Grandma Dee's hat.

We spent all day Sunday on the lake, and had a late dinner. I"m so glad that we decided to go ahead because the weather was perfect.

Water Fun, Playing, & Cake!

We spent last week in Arkansas at my mom's house. It was a great little getaway for kicking off our summer vacation!
Megan turned 5 while we were there, and my mom took her to pick out her own birthday present. She ended up with pink sunglasses and a water toy! My mom bought one for her house too and the girls begged her to let them play in it! She finally had had enough of their begging and gave in.
#suchasucker

Which meant that the girls ended up soaking wet, but having tons of fun!

The little water toy has balls that go in and then shoot out the top.
I mean, this sums up summer- right?!

We ended our day with a fish fry at my brother's house, and Adalyn told everyone she wanted "more snake."

The next day, we took the girls to a play place in town, but Adalyn fell asleep on the way, so we dropped off my mom and the big girls, and Addy and I ran to Target to buy her new clothes.
She was all smiles in the back of the buggy, but she was very mad at herself for having an accident. Once she was cleaned up, we went over to play!
What could be better than a gigantic ball pit???
And swings?
Adalyn loves to swing!

We spent a couple of hours playing and then headed home for pizza!
The girls and I loaded up on Friday and headed to DJ's parents house in northern Arkansas. We had already made plans to be there for Memorial Day weekend, so it made sense for us to stay at my mom's and head straight there rather than driving back to Tulsa and back to Arkansas a few days later.

The little girls fell asleep and we made it 2 hours before we stopped for a late lunch.
It was raining when we arrived at the lake, but we were happy to be there!
Once DJ arrived, we had dinner and celebrated Megan's birthday again!
Grandma Dee had party hats for everyone!
And had a cake for Meggie.
She made a wish and blew out each candle, one by one.
And was pumped when she was finally finished!
After cake, she opened her presents.
And DJ read her the card........ you can tell that Addy missed her daddy!
Her grandparents gave her Barbies and a Barbie camper!
And we gave her the American Girl doll gymnastic outfit that she wanted! (Her present didn't arrive before we went out of town, so she had to open it a few days late.) We also bought her her booster seat for the car!

See you tomorrow for some lake adventures!

It's Been A While......

So, it's been a while since I've blogged, so I have a lot of catching up to do!

I went to my mom's house a few weeks ago, and brought my niece back with me so she could help us celebrate Megan's 5th birthday! (I'll be blogging about her party soon!)
Saturday night, we went on a family walk through the neighborhood.
These girls are going to be lots of trouble when they grow up! They're only 6 weeks apart, and they are a hot mess together!
And since everyone was tired of walking, they all hopped in the stroller!
Sunday morning we loaded up and went back to my mom's house. DJ drove separately, so he took Gretchen and I ended up with Addy, Megan, and our Ya-Ya!
The girls fell asleep on our way down, so we ended up eating a later than planned lunch. We stopped at the original What-A-Burger in Russellville, Ar. and splurged on milk shakes, french fries, chicken nuggets, hot dogs, and burgers!
It was delish!

Monday was a sad day for us, as we celebrated my grandmother's homecoming to Heaven.
I put the girls in blue, since it was her favorite color.
And before heading to the cemetery, we took a great-grandchild photo! (With two grandmothers of course) My mom has all granddaughters, and my aunt and uncle have all grandsons! 4 girls and 4 boys.
Monday evening, we said good-bye to DJ (and Bailey), as they headed back to Tulsa so DJ could work.
And since school was out for summer, we stayed behind to spend the week with my mom and family.
My parents have 40 acres in central Arkansas, and my brother and his family live on their land. We spent lots of time walking back and forth between their houses, which helped me get my FitBit steps in!
On Tuesday, we celebrated Megan turning 5!!!!! We ran a few errands before stopping at Chick-Fil-A for lunch, play time, and ice cream.
There's not a better way to celebrate turning 5 than with ice cream cones!
Addy got a new pair of Natives for summer! We found a local shoe store that carried Natives, so I didn't have to order online! Addy picked out the pair with all of the colors!
Before heading back to my mom's house, we stopped at the park to play, and Megan chipped her tooth! Her top tooth is all snagly now!
And on Wednesday, I had lunch with a friend, stopped in to Panera to get some work done, and then I drove by the chapel where DJ and I got married 10 years ago.

Our week in Arkansas was off to a pretty good start!
