Spring Break Comes to an End....

Like, all good things, Spring Break had to come to an end. After our trip to Branson, we kept the last few days of our break low key, and hung out at home. I'm SO glad we didn't plan a huge vacation, because this week, really gave us time to relax and unwind. We also got some much needing cleaning done, some purging, and we felt ready to head back to school/work and tackle this week.
Friday morning, Adalyn woke up and asked to watch Leap. After watching the movie for a little while, she went upstairs and picked out her best Leap ensemble, complete with messy bed hair.
Later, Megan got in on the act.
Saturday, I went to spin class, and managed to be one of the first ones there! What?! If you know me, then you know that I am ALWAYS late, so this was a shocker!
After spin, I rewarded myself with a protein shake.
And then we went home and spent some time playing outside. Addy Pearl is big enough for her big sisters bike, which means that she'll probably be getting one for her birthday!
Saturday evening, DJ grilled burgers.

And, then we roasted marshmallows.

Sunday morning, these two were snuggled up.
We went to church, and grabbed a bite to eat before heading home. I took a nap, and after I woke up, Adalyn decided she needed a nap too. So, I snuggled with her until she fell asleep.
And then I got up and did some baking. I wanted to be well prepared for the week with prepared breakfasts, lunches, and a treat. I ended up making chocolate chip muffins, pizza rolls for lunches, hard boiling some eggs, and made breakfast cups for myself.
And then Monday rolled around, and I realized this week is going to be crazy. Oklahoma is on the verge of a teacher walk out, and I'm trying to manage a caseload of 60 students, schedule and write at least 10 parent consent or IEP meetings, get to after school activities on time, and survive another week of Spring football practice. Basically, if you need me, I'll be rolling this stuff on and hiding in the corner.
And then this quote popped up on Facebook, which was perfect for the crazy of the end of the month.

Spring Break Mini Trip

Last week, we packed up for a few days and headed to Branson. We bought season passes to Silver Dollar city, and we were excited to visit when the park opened for the season.
After an early dentist appointment, we packed in the car, and headed out.
Addy turned her toothbrush and sunglasses from the dentist in to a fun toy.
When we arrived, we met up with my mom and niece. The girls were SO excited to see their cousin!
After some shopping, we stopped for ice cream before heading to the condo.
We checked in, and headed right to the pool.

After swimming, we headed to a late dinner at the resort restaurant, and the girls had Shirley Temples for dinner. It's kind of their thing there.

Wednesday morning, we were excited for a day at Silver Dollar City!
Our first stop was the candy shop! We saw them making fudge, and bought some treats to enjoy.

Chocolate covered rice krispy treats. Yes, please.
Then we headed to the flooded mine.

And over to the carnival area. We usually do a few rides in this section, but the girls wanted to try a few more this time!
We stopped for lunch, and then headed to fireman's landing, and Lucky was there! The girls were so excited to meet him.

These cousins are the best of friends.
And I sure did love when this guy caught back up with us! He spent all of his morning waiting in line for the new Time Traveler roller coster.
We ended our day with a train ride.
and then we enjoyed a funnel cake.
On our way out, we discovered the name of the grape harbor. I've been coming to Silver Dollar City since I was a little girl, and I'm pretty sure I've never noticed this!
We headed for dinner and had a much longer wait than we anticipated. Thank goodness, we brought ipads along with us.
Thursday morning, we hugged Gee and Yaya goodbye, and stopped at the resort park to play for a bit.

And then we drove down to the lake, and explored the dam museum.  They had a fun little kids area to play in.
And I totally failed at getting a good picture of the girls with the dam. Oh well.

We had a great little trip. It was fun to get away and have some family time.

Some Spring Break Fun

Last week, we had our Spring Break, and never has a break from school and work been more needed. We desperately needed a break from things, and I'm so thankful we didn't plan a big vacation this year.
The weather was gorgeous at the beginning of our Spring Break, so we spent lots of time playing outside. DJ only worked a half day on the first Friday, so he joined us at home, and played some football with Gretchen.
Megan picked some flowers and painted in the driveway.
Somehow, the girls ended up in swimsuits, playing in the neighbors garden house, and we ordered pizza for dinner. We decided to eat it outside with no plates, and enjoyed the sun.
These girls were begging for us to fill up their outdoor kiddie pool, but it was still too cold.
On Saturday, Gretchen and I headed off to the movie to see The Greatest Showman. It was SO good!
When we came home, Megan asked to bake a cake, so that's exactly what we did.
Then the girls helped to ice and decorate the cake.
Sunday was pajama day at church. The girls were SO excited to wear their pjs!

Except for Adalyn. She does not enjoy pajama days, so she opted for a horse dress and colorful pink tights.
We spent most of Monday at home. The girls had their usual activities, and we headed to McAlisters for dinner.
Tuesday morning started off bright and early! The girls had dentist appointments at 8 am!

And after that, we packed up and headed off for a mini trip.......
