Megan's BirthDAY

Last week, we celebrated Megan turning 7!!!
We tucked her in one last time as a 6 year old.
I sure do love this middle of mine.
Gretchen made Megan cinnamon rolls for breakfast, and then Megan opened her presents from her Pops and Grandma Dee, and then it was off to school.
I caught the birthday girl on the playground at recess.
And we took a little selfie.
These little girls have become fast friends this school year! We're going to miss her when she moves.
I mean, how cute are they!
Megan's class was having a pizza party for lunch, so we opted to bring cookie cake for dessert.
We had to pick up two cakes for her class.
She served all of her friends, and then ate her cake.

That afternoon, her teacher celebrated her some more, and sent me these pictures.

We had the best time celebrating Megan all month long, and especially on her birthday! Megan makes us all laugh and smile and keeps us on our toes. She's an angel at school, and her teachers always love her. She's wild and crazy at home, and has some of the best little girl friends. She is the best big sister to Adalyn and a wonderful little sister to Gretchen. She totally knows how to drive Gretchen crazy, which sometimes is hilarious because I always thought it was the older sibling that would pick on the younger one, but it's totally the other way around. But, they also get along so well and Megan looks up to Gretchen so much! Megan is our little gymnast, and is constantly tumbling. She handstands and cartwheels all the time. She can burp on command, and loves to shake her booty! She almost always insists on putting her hair in a ponytail every single day; she would much prefer to wear shorts/shirts/leggings than a dress. She loves watching You Tube videos and playing with her baby dolls. She's starting to read chapter books and has done great in school this year! We're just so very proud of her!

Happy 7th Birthday Megan!

Life Lately....

We ended up getting super busy last week with it being Megan's birthday and the last full week of school. Things were a bit hectic. So today, I'm blogging a little bit of life lately and catching up from what we missed out on last week.
Megan was invited to a birthday party last weekend, so we let Adalyn tag along. We took the morning off from church and went to Target to do some grocery shopping and pick up a gift. The girls wanted their picture with the Target dog as soon as we spotted him.
Megan's party was at Build-a-Bear, which is a super fun party because each guest gets to pick out a bear to take home! How cool is that?!

Adalyn had a gift card, so we let her pick out a bear too.
Lots of little birthday friends.
Addy with her bear after we got home. She was telling me she needed a Shopkins dress so she can match her bear.
And y'all, every day after school, Megan comes in and does handstands and cartwheels in my office.
I picked up this top at Gap last weekend, and it's so soft and comfy. I searched for it online, but can't find it! I'll keep searching and link soon if I can find it!
And you guys, this salad is so good and super easy! Spinach, grilled chicken, strawberries, shredded gouda cheese, dried apples, cucumbers, and apple fuji dressing. Yum.
And, I'm leaving you this morning with this sweet girl..... I'm hoping she'll be my one to sleep in this summer!

Happy Memorial Day friends!

Our Oily Life

Every month, I like to share how we're using our essential oils and working toward living a more holistic lifestyle. Three years (this coming June) I bought a little starter kit of oils and it literally jump started this entire wellness cycle.
Road Trip.... we've had a lot of those in the last several weeks! I always have Peace & Calming with me, and when Megan started throwing a fit in the car, I put a drop on her feet, and within minutes she had calmed down and was great the rest of the drive. I also put some on Addy's toes, and within minutes, she was asleep!
Each month, Young Living gives some generous freebies! We score a set of wool dryer balls, which I'm obsessed with! Did you know they shorten your drying time, thus lowering your electric bills!
Adalyn's a huge fan of Ningxia Red, Young Living's antioxidant drink with wolfberries. She asked for her morning juice of Ningxia and requested Elderberry Syrup to be added! It gives a huge immune boost!
I made this roller to use as part of my skin care routine. 7 drops of each oil, fill with a carrier, and voila, an easy skin care DIY.
So, most of you know I work as a speech pathologist in the public schools setting..... well, my office often doesn't get clean, so I have to do it myself. Which, I totally don't mind because they I get to use my products that I know are safe :) I keep a bottle of Thieves cleaner in my room.... and, do you see all those marker marks on the table?
They came right off with Slique Essence! This oil is actually used in water, but it contains citrus oils, which are perfect for scrubbing off markers and crayons!
This roller is perfect for when you want to breathe in the Spring :)
And people often ask me if I travel with my oils.... why, yes I do.

This is a smidge of what I brought with me on our Dallas girls trip!
These oils are a rotation in my nightly skin care routine. 1 drop of each after I wash my face. Gorgeous skin- oh, yes!
Young Living gifted this supplement for free in April, and when I opened my order, it was missing... but, I had a lip gloss instead. I contacted their customer service, and you know what?! They told me to keep the lip gloss, and that they'd still send out my free supplement! You guys, their customer service is top notch!
This is the perfect end of school year immune boost.
DJ was out of town last week, and I never sleep well when he's away. I put these oils in my diffuser and seriously slept amazing!
And, I had to share this little stand I'm using in my kitchen right now. I just love being able to put my oils on display.
Currently, I'm obsessed with diffusing this combo. Idaho Blue Spruce and Orange.

Idaho Blue Spruce contains D-Limonene (research it!), is great for releasing emotional blocks, and has one of the highest frequencies of essential oils.
And Saturday night, I had a little me time.

A few drops of Hope essential oil in some epsom salts, and I relaxed and rejuvenated my spirits.

And, before we go, I have to share that just yesterday, Young Living placed their Premium Starter Kits on sale 10% off, and I'm including $25.00 cash back, making your Starter Kit only $119.00! That's a savings of over $40.00!!!

Megan's Sleepover

This past weekend, we celebrated Megan turning 7!!!
Her actual birthday is this week, but we chose to celebrate a little early due to Memorial Day weekend, the end of the school year, but mostly, because daddy was out of town!

Megan's big present this year was our trip to Dallas and the American Girl store, but we thought she could have a few friends from school spend the night!
I picked up a few decorations from Target and set the dining room table.

I used a few party decorations that I had for the table as well.
On the window, I hung a fabric banner that I made for Megan's first birthday, and hung a gigantic 7 balloon.
We kept party favors super simple, and put them in these gift bags.
Each girl received a notebook and lip gloss.
At recess on Friday, these girls were excited for their sleepover!
We asked them to arrive around 6, which gave us plenty of time to pick up doughnuts after school and order pizza.
The girls ate pizza, wore their crowns, and played games until it was time for pizza.

After pizza, they played outside and then we opened presents!

I didn't take any pictures while she was opening presents, just video.
After presents, we had cupcakes!
And they were very, very yummy!

Her friends are just the sweetest!
We let Gretchen have a friend spend the night too, and these girls were a huge help!
They even put on a magic show for the girls!

Around 9, I tried to settle the girls down to watch a movie. They chose Wonder, and I was secretly hoping they'd all crash. But.... that didn't happen. Finally, at 11, I let them know it was bedtime, and around 12:10, I went out one more time and told them they had to go to sleep! Megan says that a few of them were up until 1 and even 2, but they were piled in the living room, and I didn't hear a peep after I went out after 12.
By 7 am, they were awake and it was time for doughnuts.
The girls had a ton of fun!

They all went home by 11, and we spent the rest of the day recovering!
