Easter Weekend Wrap-Up

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter!!! I absolutely love celebrating holidays even though our traditions seem to change from year to year. I enjoyed seeing so much all of the pictures on Facebook and Instagram on friends dressed up and families together.

What a joyous day!
The girls had Friday off, which was new for us. They've always gone to school on Good Friday. I took Thursday off, and DJ only worked until noon so all day Friday, I kept thinking it was Saturday!

Once DJ got home, Megan and I left to run errands and go to a birthday party. DJ kept Gretchen and Adalyn and they worked in our flower beds planting a few more plants and adding edging.
Megan's friends party was a "Nailed It!" theme and the kids got to decorate cupcakes! I think Megan did a pretty good job!
She stole a cupcake out of her box on the way home!
Saturday morning, we went to a neighborhood egg hunt. Megan was the only one that wanted to take a photo with the Easter Bunny.
Just a girl, waiting on her egg hunt.
These girls found a bunch of eggs!
We came home and dyed eggs. I had leftover dye kits from last year- I think my mom gave us some and then I bought some we never used, so we ended up having 3 kits, and I just made them all so the girls wouldn't fight over it. It ended up being the best idea ever!
We showed the girls how to use the crayon to write on their eggs.
DJ helped Addy double dip her eggs.
But, this girl was a pro!
So, was this girl!
Deciding which color to use is a tough decision!
Since it was just us, we kept it simple, and each girl only dyed 4 eggs.
Friday afternoon, I picked up a box of cookies from The Pflour Shop. They had the cutest little pre-made cookie decorating boxes.
The girls set to work, each decorating 4 egg cookies.
We went through a LOT of icing!

But, we had enough icing left over to eat some!
Saturday night, we went to The Salt Lick for dinner. We were going to have homemade pizza, but I realized I didn't have any yeast, and I had just cleaned up my kitchen, so we made it a night out. The weather was gorgeous and we ate outside near the playground so the girls were able to play while we waited for our dinner and again afterwards.
Once the girls went to bed, the Easter bunny set to work!
Once we were all awake, the girls were excited to dig in to their baskets.
Megan got a new bicycle helmet which she desperately needed.
And Gretchen received new sunglasses.
The girls got new bathing suits and piggy banks.
We got ready for church and went to the early service.

We still haven't found a church home here in Austin, but we've visited this one a few times, and the girls have enjoyed it, so we went back, but because it was Easter Sunday, there was no Sunday School, so the girls went to 'big' church with us! They did great in the service, and then afterwards we went to see the flowering cross.

I've never seen this tradition before, but it was really pretty!
When we got home, our neighbor was outside, so she took a family photo. It was super sunny!
The Easter bunny brought plastic eggs filled with coins and coupons for the girls to hunt with instructions that DJ and I would hide them after church.

I know some people hide eggs and their kids hunt them in the morning, but growing up, our older cousins and family members would hide them after we brought all of our eggs over to my grandma's house. So, we just hide the eggs for the girls, and they know that we do. It's funny to see how everyone has their own Easter traditions.
This year, each girl had 8 eggs, and they each had a color assigned to them. They could only find their color egg, and each egg had money inside. But, they all ended up with $9.25.

Because we've never really had trees, the girls didn't think to look in the branches for their eggs!

She had to count to make sure she had found all of her eggs.

Once they were all found, the girls opened their eggs and counted their money.

And, remember those coupons I bought at Target?
They were a huge hit! Each of the girls got 4 coupons. Some of them I through out, because I didn't want to use them, and some of them were blank, so I just tossed those instead of writing something on them.

I took a nap on Sunday afternoon, the girls played upstairs, we went to the park, DJ smoked a pork tenderloin, and we all played a game of corn hole.

It was a wonderful relaxing weekend with lots of family togetherness, which we definitely needed!

I hope your family had a blessed time as well.

Friday Favorites: Football & Key Rings

Happy Friday!!!

We are excited for Easter weekend, and spending some family time together. The girls are out of school today, and you know, they've never had a Good Friday off, so thank you Texas :)
I'm linking up today and sharing our favorites from the week.

Saturday afternoon was Texas' spring football game.

One of my favorite questions as a football wife, is "what does your husband do in the off season?" Well, there isn't really an off season since football runs August through the end of December, and then recruiting takes place in January, and then Spring ball begins in March and lasts about 4 weeks.

At the end of the Spring practice, there's almost always a scrimmage game, and in true Texas fashion- everything is bigger- this Spring game was the largest I've ever seen.
We spent some time with DJ on the field and the girls were excited to see Bevo again. They asked him about his new little brother that was born earlier this year.
The spring game always means that we get this guy home again for a while, so it's always something I look forward to!

The girls and I attempted to watch the game from the stands, but it was cold and windy, so we went inside to the 50 yard line club, and the girls played while I sat on the sofa to watch bits and pieces of the game.

After the game, Noah North and Ludacris performed, but it was super cold and the girls were exhausted, so we called it a night and headed home.
Saturday night, we surprised the girls with tickets to see Double Dare Live!!!

You have to be 10 to be on stage, so we pre-registered myself and Gretchen.
Just two excited girls waiting on Double Dare to begin.
Several of the football staff members were there, and one coach even got chosen to be on stage for "musical pies" They called his daughter's on stage to pie him in the face!
Gretchen was finally chosen to go on stage with her "family". There was an intermission, and we let her join with some other moms and a "brother" nearby. They competed, but quickly lost and had to come sit back down.

As much as she wanted to win, she also just really wanted to get on stage, so she had fun!
Spring is definitely springing, so we made the girls a roller bottle this week. It's a quick and easy DIY with 8 drops of peppermint, lemon, and lavender, and we are rolling it all over to help us survive the season.
Tuesday night, I took the girls to Chick Fil A, but quickly regretted the decision, when I realized they were having a theme night. The place was nuts! The girls made a craft, got a goodie bag, and we tried to eat as quickly as possible!
Then, I crawled in to bed with these girls since DJ was out of town.
Have y'all heard of Oventure key rings?

My mom received one as a gift a few years ago, and I must be honest, I thought it was kind of ridiculous. I mean, it was huge! But, then I started seeing them more, and convinced myself that I needed one. And y'all, it's life changing! Ha!

I ordered one when they were on a GMA special, and I'm obsessed! I love that I can find my keys easier in my purse, and I love that I can just slide the keyring on my arm and go.

Mine is here.
These would make a perfect Mother's day gift or gift for teacher's appreciation!

Speaking of Mother's day..... I'm almost always late with gifts, but I've convinced myself if I start early then I'll be prepared- so, all next week, I'm sharing Mother's day gift ideas over on my Facebook page
I hope you all have a blessed Easter weekend. Enjoy your time with family and loved ones and remember that Christ has Risen.

Be blessed.
