The Weekend We've Been Waiting For!

Well, we finally made it to our 1st game of the season.

In a football family, it's always a monumental part of the year. A game we look forward to since our last game ended the season before. A game that marks the ending of August practice and long days of not seeing DJ, and a game that marks the season ahead and all of the possibilities.
To get us in the spirit, I did a little decorating in our dining room.
Lots of little footballs, our family photo that we used to announce our move to Texas, and Longhorns coasters.
And a little inspiration on the sideboard.
We arrived to tailgate and I took zero pictures. It was hot and we were busy socializing and the girls were busy climbing the tree.

We made our way in to the stadium and on to the field.
Of course, we had to see Bevo.
It's one of our favorite game day traditions.
DJ's office is in a new location, so we walked the length of the field, and Megan wanted her picture with the big drum.
We spent a little time with this guy before the game.
Gretchen could care less about any of the pre-game festivities. She's just happy with her book.
Megan was doing push ups and ended up on the big screen, but I wasn't fast enough for a picture. We thought Adalyn wanted a picture with the cheerleaders, so we told her to go ask them. Next thing we knew, she had walked over to the camera man and asked him instead! So, there she is on the video board pre-game.
We gave hugs and wished him the best, and then the little girls went off to babysitting and Gretchen and I fought our way in to the stands.

It was kind of a mad house, because we had to go in and out of the stadium to get the girls to babysitting and we had students in our ticketed seats when we arrived, so needless to say, I wasn't in the most spirited mood. I took zero pictures during the game.
We beat Louisiana Tech, picked up the girls from babysitting, congratulated DJ on the field, snag Texas Fight, and I looked over to find Gretchen reading again.
Adalyn found a cheerleader and her night was made.
Megan tumbled on the field.
And she kept reading.
After a dog pile, we headed to DJ's office, handed out coaches iPad's, and then drove home. The girls went to bed around midnight.
And finally, the lack of sleep caught up with us on our way to Sunday night dinner.
After dinner, and yummy cookies, we ended the weekend with another late night of watching Pippi Longstocking!
This Saturday, we take on College Gameday and LSU.

Hook 'em.

Friday Faves.

It's been a sweet forever since I've shared some Friday Favorites with y'all, and I do believe that I'm making up for it today! I have a lot to share, so get those kids off to school, and enjoy your quiet solitude!
First up, these earrings.

I recently found @common.threads.kc on  Instagram and loved her style of earrings! I let her know that I was going to be ordering a pair for football season, and that I'd need a burnt orange color, and y'all, she reached out and sent these to me as a gift! I'm obsessed and already needing another pair and wanting to grab a few as gifts.
She has all different colors and her style is unique and gorgeous.

Next up, this yummy diffuser blend! Go pop this combination in your diffuser and let me know what you think!

Memes y'all! I am a sucker for memes! I saw these online and saved them in my screenshots to re-share, because we all need a laugh.

^^^ Truth.

Did y'all see our easy popsicle recipe earlier this week?
They're a fun after school treat because it's still around 100 here in Texas.
It's hot y'all!
And if you missed it earlier this month, I shared 6 semi-crunchy products your man needs
My father in law made me an oil shelf for my birthday, and we finally got it hung and painted. I love seeing the oils every time I walk in to the kitchen and their bright little bottles of happiness.
And another random favorite- my blue light glasses

I've had these for a few years, but I really recently noticed my eyes straining, so I decided that I needed to be more consistent wearing them when I'm on the computer and I'm already able to tell a huge difference! Most of my work days are spent in front of kids and computer screens, so I need to protect my eyes.

And finally.........
football season is upon us my friends!
We kick off tomorrow night against Louisiana Tech and I can't wait! I've basically been counting down the days since our Sugar Bowl win last January!
And, I'm not sure if you heard, but Matthew McConaughey himself is teaching a class at UT this semester. He's actually been teaching for several years, but he was finally named a "professor" so it was big news on Facebook this week.

We were out at the stadium on Friday, and caught him doing a photo shoot in the stands. It took all I had to not run over, but we did see his car and driver, so if anyone needs a stalker friend, just let me know :)
My mom made the girls new shirts for football season and we can't agree on a favorite! We love them all!

Cheers to the weekend!

Psst- follow me on Instagram for more fun :)

Around Town....

This past weekend, my cousin came in to town and we had such a fun time showing her around Austin. She was here for a work conference, and stayed a few extra days so we could show her around. I absolutely love when family is able to come and visit. It's hard living away from family, so when they come and visit, it just feels like "home."
Jan and I took Friday afternoon to explore UT and then we headed for lunch at Second before getting the girls from school and heading off for gymnastics. After dinner, we headed out for ice cream!
These girls shared a banana split.
Saturday afternoon, Gretchen had a birthday party and then a sleepover, so we dropped her off and went to explore town and show Jan around.

There's a great lookout off Capital of Texas Highway, but you have to climb up big rocks. We climbed to the top and enjoyed the view.
The girls found rocks and threw them over.
We tend to take our guests here or to some office buildings close by so our out of town guests can get a view of the lake and downtown Austin back in the distance.
This girl just decided to slide back down on her booty.
After we hiked up and back down, we got in the car and drove over to County Line BBQ. The place is always crowded and we lucked out and had no wait at all because we were eating around 2. The food was delicious!
And the girls each got ice cream with their meals.
They each chose cookies n cream.
After lunch, we headed down to the creek to feed the turtles. Adalyn was in heaven! She has asked for a pet turtle off and on for months, and she kept saying, "this is a dream!"

Look at all of the turtles!

There's a little swimming hole, that we had been to before (to hike) and I had promised the girls we'd go back and swim, but we didn't have a chance in the Summer. We decided to check it out, but because it's been so dry here, there was very little water! We let the girls wade around and walked to their favorite little spot that they call a "cave."

At one point, Megan walked across and ended up falling in! She was being so careful, and holding up her shorts so they wouldn't get wet, and then she slipped and fell in! She did a plank to hold herself up, and then slowly crawled out!
We made it to "the cave."

Since we couldn't swim at the creek, we drove downtown to Barton Springs. I took the girls here last Summer, and again, we didn't go this summer, because it made me too nervous to take the girls again by myself, but this is the best swimming spot right in the middle of downtown.
We got in the water, and it was cold! Friends, I can't even describe how cold it is, but it was 100 degrees outside, and felt like we were standing in ice water.
Megan and I swam across and she jumped off the diving board several times.
We had the best time together, and we braved the freezing water one more time for a picture. Little sister was hangry and didn't want to get back in for a picture.
She did smile long enough for this picture though.

We called it a day, and headed home for a cozy movie night!

We were so excited to have family in and glad we could show her around town a little bit!
