All The Halloween Fun

Since we've had a busy October, we spent the weekend squeezing in all of the Halloween fun! 

DJ was in Ft. Worth for the game, so after gymnastics, the girls and I headed out on a pizza date. 

These girls played lots of games before our pizza arrived. 

Then we came home, put on pj's, and snuggled up to finally watch Hocus Pocus! 

Saturday morning, we got up and went to the noon showing of the Addams Family. Megan had been begging to see the movie.

I took them to Target to pick out candy, and laughed at their candy choices. 

We split popcorn too and enjoyed the movie! It was super cute. 

We spent the rest of Saturday watching the game. Sunday morning, I hosted brunch for my cousin who was in town with his friends, and then DJ surprised us by letting us know that he was off for the entire day, so we went to a pumpkin patch. 

Our first stop was to ride horses. 

Then the girls ran over to the tower mountain and went down the slide several times. 

Loved having this girl in my arms! 

DJ and I were chatting about how nice it is that the girls and kind of just "go off" and we can hang back and watch them. Versus the other parents who were right by their kids side watching them on the jump bubble or chasing them all around. The girls were close by, we could watch them, but we didn't actually have to worry about them falling or wandering too far. It was blissful. 

Addy found a tire swing! 

And a little ropes course. 

We did the hay maze and found the treasure in the middle! 

But, we needed some help getting back out, so Adalyn helped us find our way! Ha!

Okay, so this was by far the coolest part of the pumpkin patch. Everyone received one small pumpkin and then you could buy more, and we sling shot them on to trees and targets. It was definitely a highlight smashing pumpkins everywhere! 

We finished off our day with a hay ride around the farm. Addy jumped on and went right up to the middle. 

These girls were my buddies, but man, that sun was bright! 

We eventually made Adalyn come sit with us, because there was mud slinging, and she wasn't holding on very well. 

After our hay ride, we picked out pumpkins. 

And how cute is this little pumpkin house! 

We were starving by the time we left the pumpkin patch so we headed to Shogun's for an early dinner. 

And then came home to carve pumpkins. Last year, I had to carve them with the girls, so I was relieved that DJ was able to help this year! 

And, for the first time ever, I didn't have to help scrape the guts out! 

Which just means they're growing up way too fast! 

Gretchen chose the most complicated design and was determined to do it herself, but she ended up needing some help. 

After our jack-o-lantern's were made, I sprayed them down with thieves cleaner to keep them fresh! 

Today, the girls have book character day and they're wearing their costumes to school! It's going to be a fun Halloween day!

Basically, October

Whew! Last week wore me out. I'm finding that late night football games are basically doing me in for the entire week and it takes me until the next weekend to recover. It's like a never ending groundhog day right now. We have a late Saturday game, we can't fully recover on Sunday, and then we hit the ground running, and by Friday, I'm thankful it's the weekend again. 

Thankfully, we were able to catch up this weekend and we have a bye weekend coming up, and then the countdown to the end of the season can begin- ha! 

So, here's basically the last half of October for ya. 

The girls all brought their sleeping bags downstairs. We had company from out of town (my stepdad's cousin, whom we had never met before) and after they left, the girls did homework picnic style. It made my heart so happy because homework has been a struggle this year and on this night, the stars aligned, and there was no complaining. 

My parents came in to town last weekend and it was so good to see them! Gretchen had a sleepover, so after Megan's gymnastics we went to Hat Creek for dinner. The girls played and we sat and caught up. 

Saturday was game day. We skipped tailgating, and hung out at home as long as possible.

Before the game, we saw Bevo. 

It's a good time when Texas takes the field! 

Emily is my sweet, sweet friend from work. She has the biggest and best heart I've ever seen. We had extra tickets to the game, so we gifted them to her and her hubby. I'm so glad we've fully converted her to being a Texas fan! 

The game was a nail biter and we won by 2 with just seconds left in the game. 

The alumni band performed at this game, and I remember watching this twirler last year. Addy saw her on the field and wanted a picture. So sweet. 

I wore booties to the game since we weren't tailgating, and by the end of the night, my feet were killing me, so I stole a pair of shoes from DJ's office and tied them as tight as I could get them! Remind me to never wear booties again to a game! 

We got home around midnight, but stayed up until almost 2 am. Ugh.

We had lunch plans Sunday afternoon to see DJ's uncle who had been in town since the end of September. We hadn't had a chance to see him, because the girls were sick the first two weekends, and then we went to Dallas, so we finally caught up the day before he had to leave. 

We also got to snuggle DJ's cousin's new baby who is a month old. 

Gretchen was smitten! She kept asking if we could just take baby E home, and I didn't disagree. 

Megan wasn't so sure, which is a bit surprising since she loves baby dolls so much! The real thing is a bit more scary! 

I stole baby E all through lunch. 

A big thanks to Lauren for letting us steal all the baby snuggles! 

Gretchen had Red Ribbon Week and started the week off with decades day, so we threw together a totally 80s outfit. 

Megan and Adalyn both had award ceremonies on Monday and since I had to work my parents went to cheer on the girls. 

I was so thankful that my parents could step in and be there. 

Tuesday afternoon, the girl wanted all the cuddles. I think the late weekend nights had caught up with her too. 

Gretchen had school pictures, and I just can't believe how grown up and big she is. 

Megan has begged and begged to put Halloween decorations in the yard, so I took her to Target Wednesday after school and we picked out a few decorations for the yard.

The girls worked together to get them in the yard. 

and we spread spider webs and hung spooky lights on the patio. 

And y'all, we still haven't bought pumpkins or visited the pumpkin patch this year. Sigh. 

For Red Ribbon week, Gretchen and her friends wore their GGGC shirts on twin day. They started a little club last year and raised over $400.00 for the World Wildlife Fund, and named their little club Go Green Go Clean, hence their shirts. 

I'm still so thankful she has the most wonderful friends here. 

So, that about catches us up! 

Since it's Halloween week, we're basically squeezing in all the things we haven't done this Fall.
