Hello New Mexico

After we left Palo Duro Canyon in Amarillo, we headed west to New Mexico. There was a state park that DJ wanted to check out. We loaded up and headed out. The girls got comfy cozy in the back seat.
And Gabby and I got comfy cozy in the front.

DJ let Gretchen drive the truck and camper (which I haven't even done) when we were on a straight stretch of highway. I was terrified, but she ended up doing a really good job.

As we got closer to the park, our GPS took us off a dirt road to cut through- had we known we wouldn't have gone down the road with the camper- plus it was raining! But thankfully we didn't get stuck!

We found our spot, and got all set up. The scenery was gorgeous!

The girls walked around the campsite, we played some games inside, and it stopped raining long enough to grab some pictures.

The girls bundled up and played games while DJ cooked dinnide.

I walked in and found them all cuddled up on our bed.

After dinner, we went for a drive.

The lake and the sunset was breathtaking.

The next morning we got up and drove in to Raton for breakfast.

We found a little place downtown, ordered, and ate and then got back in to the car for our drive in to Colorado.

We stopped at Costco in Denver and grabbed some groceries and lunch before heading in to the mountains.

Once we got set up, we realized there were a ton of mosquitos! It was also my birthday, and all I wanted was to get dressed up, take some pictures, and have dinner downtown- so that's exactly what we did.

Palo Duro Canyon

We woke up on July 6 in the Cracker Barrel parking lot, so of course we had to have Cracker Barrel for breakfast!
After breakfast, we were ready to hit the road! We drove to Palo Duro Canyon for an overnight stop before heading on to New Mexico. This is our 3rd time here, and while we haven't gone on any of their huge hikes, we have gotten to see and explore a little bit more each time we've visited.

A little place called Happy.

Our first stop was to the Sad Monkey Mercantile for some fire wood!

We found our camp site and just hung out for a bit.

And then we got out and explored.

DJ cooked us dinner and we sat out by the fire; thankfully it had cooled off and was a gorgeous night!

And of course we had s'mores!

Our little camping pup! We love having Gabby along on our adventures.

The 4th of July & Adalyn's Birthday

On the 4th of July, Megan, Adalyn, and I went to the water park for the morning!

It was fun to hang out pool side in our red white and blue! We met a friend there and had a great morning relaxing and playing!

The girls each got a hat, and they had their faces painted!

We came home, and all went to the neighborhood pool for a bit!

These two had fun stunting.

Then we sat outside to watch all of our neighbors shoot off fireworks.

Our neighhbors were even kind enough to share!

Adalyn took her "last night as a 10 year old" picture.

And I was exhausted! But, I always decorate the girls a birthday table and I decided I just didn't have it in me. So, Gretchen and Megan stayed up and decorated for her! It was so sweet!

She woke up to presents, and insisted on opening them before breakfast.

And then she had her birthday cinnamon roll.

She requested lunch out.

The restaurant celebrated her with ice cream that I swear was covered in corn flakes!

And we let her have some bubblegum!

A few birthday celebration pictures!

And we were in the car for a drive to Abilene!

Because we were heading out on a week long trip to Colorado!!!

We had dinner and slept in the parking lot at Cracker Barrel!
