Last night, DJ and I went to a party with my school staff. I know, work parties are typically so boring! We had one last weekend with his work, which was tons of fun because we have shuffleboard tournaments, karaoke, good food and good drinks! But, when you're partying with elementary school teachers the above can't be expected.
We weren't sure what to expect, but I had heard we would be doing a scavenger hunt. The last time that I did one was in college with my sorority, and we had tons of fun! We had to run around tons collecting different items from different places and snapping pictures along the way.
This one started out by us meeting at a central location. We were put into teams of 4, and given an initial puzzle to solve. Once the puzzle was solved, we received our other items and had permission to head out. We had 3 hours to complete all of the items on our list.
Our team quickly started on the puzzle of matching front & back of trains and forming a 3x3 square. After 4 teams had left because they had solved their puzzle, two teams remained. Ours and one more. We were given permission to go ahead and leave without completion of the puzzle, with a 30 minute late start! We quickly read through the list and decided what we would do first.
Here are some of the things we had to do!
Go to the YMCA and sing the song for 2 minutes on video tape! (2 minutes is a LONG time if you don't know all of the words!)
Find a car at a gas station that is getting gas and check it's oil and clean its windows.
Clean the car you are riding in at a carwash and sing a song about being clean. (We sang Rubber Ducky)
Give a police officer (in his patrol car) a doughnut and cup of coffee telling them they've done a great job!
Slide down a curly slide at a park backwards. (2 people had to do this).
We have a teacher out on sick leave, and we had to leave her a "get well" sign in her yard with a poem.
Stack 55 coke cans outside of a specific office building.
Go to a bar with mouse ears and hand out pieces of cheese to 5 people. (By the time we arrived at the bar, they were so tired of getting pulled outside and handed out cheese!)
Go to the town's "spirit statue" and plea for 2 minutes for him to make you a good singer and then sing "Amazing Grace"
We had to figure out info on two presidents, go to those locations and at one location we had to read the names of all of the people in town with the same last name, and at the other location we had to state 10 facts.
Go to a specific bank and sing the "Star Spangled Banner"
Recite "Mary had a little lamb" in front of 3 live lambs.
There were so many more and we didn't get all of them completed, but we did get 16 out of 24! Each item was assigned to a specific team member, and worth a certain amount of points; which we didn't know the point value until we returned.
We arrived on time, followed by other teams, and greeted with cookies, chips/salsa, and cokes. (See a teachers party is complety different!) Our point total was 54! We had a wonderful time, but we ended up in 6th place! (LAST PLACE!) Somehow, we think it was rigged, and we were slowed down because one team called and told us it was over and everyone was headed back, and even though we didn't fall for it, we had to make other phone calls to find out the truth!
I challege you all, if you're looking for good, clean fun with a group of friends to complete this activity or one like it!
COOL!
