A Girl Mom Weekend

Well, our last little glimmer of summer ended this weekend. Now that Labor day has come and gone, we can all get ready for fall, and I don't know about you, but i'm not the least bit sad about it! This girl mom is ready for fall and all of the fun activities that it will bring! It's always a busy season for us, but it's one of my favorite times of the year!
So, how does a girl mom spend her labor day weekend?

Gretchen and I started the weekend off right by getting doughnuts before we headed to school.
Then, I get a sneak of her on the playground before I went inside for my lunch. I absolutely love having her at school with me.

I made homemade waffles for dinner on Friday night and Adalyn was pretty fussy. I had promised my neighbor that we could go to a friend's thirty-one party, and then I realized that Adalyn had a pretty high fever. I called DJ to let him know Addy wasn't feeling well, and he told me it was okay for me to go ahead and go to the party. About 45 minutes after I got to the party, DJ called to let me know that the big girls were still outside playing (our neighbors were watching them) and that Addy's fever had spiked up to 104. I immediately headed home, and stopped at the pharmacy to stock up on motrin and tylenol.

We put the big girls to bed, and then spent the next two hours holding Adalyn and trying to get her fever to go down. It finally did, and around 10, she was toddling around the living room like nothing ever happened. We finally got her in around 11, and she slept until 5:00, and fell asleep with us until 6, and then I put her back in her bed. Thankfully, she woke up fever free.

Saturday morning we had leftover waffles and I let DJ sleep in. I picked up the house a bit and then told him our "agenda" for the day, since he'd be home all day. All he wanted to do was watch college football, and all I wanted to do was sew.

I managed to get three orders completed, and then I took the big girls to the swimming pool for our very last swim of the season.
Once we got home from the pool, DJ fired up the grill and filled the kiddie pool in the backyard.

After baths and bedtime, DJ worked on game film and I did more sewing.
We went to church on Sunday morning, and I decided that Adalyn needed to stay with us since she was still running a low grade fever.
We sat in the balcony, so we wouldn't bother anyone and Adalyn had lots of fun in big church!

I took the girls to Old Navy afterwards, and then we headed home for lunch. Adalyn went down for a nap, and I made brownies for our Sunday night coaches wives Bible study.

We went to Bible study and all of the kids had a blast playing outside. Our Bible study this year is The Power of a Praying Wife, and i'm so excited to learn more about how I can pray for DJ and be a prayer warrior for him. I tried reading the book several years ago, but I never finished it.

After Bible study, we had pizza and headed home for baths.
I had to keep Megan awake the whole way home! I knew that if she fell asleep on our way home that she would NOT go to bed later that evening. Newsflash: she still had a hard time falling asleep.

I worked on orders again Sunday night since we didn't have school on Monday.
Monday morning we met friends at the park. Addy spent most of the time in her stroller or in the ergo, but she had fun when I got her down to toddle around.
Megan thought the park was too dirty, so she cleaned it using baby wipes.
Gretchen was just thrilled to see her BFF.

I drove the girls through McDonalds for lunch and then we headed home and the girls worked on art projects. Gretchen's little friend gave her a pirate book, so she set to work making a treasure chest, map and eye patch, and Megan cut and pasted too.
Then the girls each picked out a pirate tattoo. Megan's is a pirate baby!
After lunch, Adalyn took a nap, and the big girls watched Finding Nemo. Meggie says that it's "her favorite", and I went upstairs and finished two more projects!

Monday evening was spent cleaning the house (again), doing dishes, laundry, baths, fixing lunches, and setting out clothes so we'd be ready for school today.

And, that is how this girl mom wrapped up her summer and spent labor day weekend.

I'm telling y'all, I live an exciting life!
