A few weeks ago, Gretchen turned 8! We celebrated with an ice skating birthday party. She has recently fallen in love with American Girl doll, and has read several of the books. In Mary Ellen's book, the character goes ice skating. Gretchen decided an ice skating party would be perfect!
I decorated in tones of pink, purple, and aqua.
The party tables were set with a pink table cloth, purple plates, aqua napkins, and an ice sucker. We also had snow flakes and a little sleigh.
The party room had a small cake table, so we made do with the room we had! I found pink and aqua candy cups in Target's dollar section, and the kids were able to fill their cups with marshmallows, purple m&m's, and aqua chocolates.
We ordered cupcakes from a local bakery (Not Your Grandma's Cupcakes), and had a dozen adorned with little marshmallow snowmen.
The other half just had sprinkles.
We also ordered cookies from OKCookie Momster.
We served the cupcakes to the kids, and the cookies to the adults. Each child went home with a wrapped snowflake cookie and a pair of mittens.
Gretchen was ready to hit the ice! She looks so grown up here!!!! Her Pops & Grandma Dee bought her an ice skating outfit for the party.
We were super blessed that my sister in law and niece were able to come up for the party.
We waited for the guests to arrive, and then grabbed skates for everyone. The kids had about an hour and a half to skate before we went upstairs to the party room. Thankfully, the skating rink had "walkers" for the kids to use!
I didn't get the best pictures of the kids skating since I wasn't out on the ice.
Meggie was a skating pro! She had so much fun.
Meg with her best little friend.
The birthday girl was on the ice the entire time!
I sent DJ out on the ice with all of the kids!
After skating, we went upstairs for cupcakes and presents.
We sant her Happy Birthday and she blew out her candle.
We ran out of the Snowmen cupcake so I told the kids they could decorate theirs with some of the candy, which turned out to be a hit!
Addy loved her cupcake!
Celebrating with my birthday girl!
Then it was time for presents!
She received a Rustic Cuff from one of the boys in her class, and she was thrilled!
And pj's and matching doll pj's
Megan was super jealous when she saw the pajamas her sister got! She kept trying to sneak and steal them!
Shopkins!
All Adalyn cared about was the cupcakes!
Once the presents were opened, we sent her friends on their way!
We had so much fun celebrating our 8 year old!
I'm so glad she had a good birthday. Amelia and Julia had a lot of fun at her party. They are always asking to go ice skating.
