Today, I'm sharing my Top 5 Crunchy Products, that I think everyone needs in their house! And, gasp!, these aren't Young Living products!
We actually use Young Living for the majority of our wellness products, but these are products that I've found and I've come to love. I also trust the brands, after lots of research :)
Coconut Oil was the first product that I started using when I began my healthy journey. I started by using it as a face wash, and now I use it to shave, as a hair mask, in sugar scrubs, and more. This stuff has a million and one uses, and everyone needs this in their house. Plus, it makes a wonderful carrier oil when you need to dilute essential oils when you're applying them to your skin.
I found this soap just a few months ago, and I'm adding it to my list of products you must have. I used Skintimate shave gel forever, but it was rated high on the Think Dirty app, and I was on the lookout for a different brand, that rated cleaner. I found one that was unscented, and rated a 7, and used it for a while, but was still wanting something cleaner. While browsing, Sprouts, our local organic grocery store, I came across this shave soap, and thought I'd try it. It lathers great, doesn't clog my razor, and I think it lasts a while too. It comes out in liquidy, and lathers like a soap.
When we first started using essential oils, and began to research toxic products in our home, dryer sheets were the first thing we through out. They contain known carcinogens, and, let's face it, they're all over your clothes. And yes, as you wear the clothes, the carcinogens rub off on to your skin, and anything that gets on to your skin, absorbs and can be found in the blood stream within 20 seconds. Needless to say, dryer sheets needed to go. Everyone recommended wool dryer balls, and we haven't looked back since. We have about 6 balls, and this month, we'll be adding 3 more to our collection. I use a few drops of Purification essential oil, so our clothes still smell nice, without all the yucky chemicals.
4. Acure Shampoo & Conditioner
It took me forever to find a high quality shampoo & conditioner that I really loved. In fact, it's probably one of the last products that I switched. One day, I finally decided to take the time to scan every "natural" shampoo in the aisles at Target. So many of the "natural" ones were rated high on the Think Dirty App, so when Acure, rated as a 3, I grabbed it to try out. I only wash my hair 2-3 days a week, and I love this. It doesn't dry out my hair, it smells great, and I think this shampoo is why I can go so long between washes.
We've used All Free & Clear forever, and I really liked it, and loved that it was affordable. But, when I came across Boulder, at Sprouts, I wanted to give it a try. It's rinses clean, there's no artificial fragrances, no phosphates, and no dyes. This is a total win in our house.
I hear a lot of the time, that it's overwhelming to de-toxify your home, but guys, it's not that hard! Switch out one product every time you go to the grocery store. Start with your dish soap, your cleaner (I'll always use Thieves cleaner from Young Living- don't be fooled by green washed brands.), your dryer sheets, shampoos, etc. I would highly recommend downloading the Think Dirty App and scan your products before you buy them. Also, read labels, and never choose a product if fragrance is listed as an ingredient. Fragrance is a known hormone disruptors. It can also lead to skin irritations, allergies, and asthma. To read more about the harmful effects of fragrance head here.
Again, one product a month. You can totally do this!
