Schools Out!!!

I feel like this post should've been written on May 19th. But, Oklahoma teachers had a walk out, so we added 7 extra days and extra time to our school calendar.

Anyway, I can finally say 'SCHOOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER!"

Oh, yes!
We've had lots of fun end of the school year activities! We started celebrating last Friday with Super Kids Day. There were bounce houses.....
friends, sidewalk chalk, and lots of games.
Megan spent the entire morning outside and having a blast!
The at lunch, I went over to Adalyn's school to watch her little performance. Her class sang a few songs....
and then we had a picnic outside.
One friend brought everyone watermelon and Addy was excited! The girls love watermelon!

Addy's class also had a graduation, but I had to go see my last speech student of the year. When her graduation was over, DJ checked her out.....
and brought her to Gretchen's Super Kids Day!

Gretchen was the sweetest and took Adalyn around to all of the bounce houses.
We just hung out sweating and watching them play.
I can't believe she's going to be a 5th grader!
And I can't believe Adalyn will be here next year in kindergarten!
Around 3 pm, the 3, 4, and 5 graders gathered in the field to be sprayed by a fire truck!
It's an event that's looked forward to every single year, and Gretchen had the best time ever!
We came back to school on Tuesday, and Adalyn had "yellow" day.
Megan had a poetry picnic during lunch, so we ate together and she showed me all of her books and read to me a little.
After school called for some snuggles.
And then finally, it was the last day of school!!!
Of course she brought her ballet baby.
And look how much she's grown :)
Gretchen hopped out of the car and was ready for her safety patrol duties.
But before she went in, I had to take a few pictures :)
And this girl will be a 5th grader. I feel like it was just yesterday when I was walking her in to kindergarten for the very first time.
I mean, just hold me because after next year she'll be in middle school!
And her first day of school photo...... she politey reminded me that in 8 years she'll be off to college!
And Megan's last day of school. She was so excited and ready for the day!
And her first and last day! (I swear she only wears ponytails now!)

We're glad to be out for summer!!!

Let the fun in the sun begin!!

Memorial Day Weekend

This past weekend we loaded up and headed to Branson for a short little getaway.

We had no plans for Memorial Day weekend, but we were itching to get away. We decided to try to book a condo in Branson, for a quick trip.

We left Friday after school, checked in around 9, and went to bed.
Saturday morning, we were up bright and early. We made breakfast and headed straight to Silver Dollar City for the morning. We knew that we didn't want to spend the entire day at SDC, so we thought we'd get there early, beat the crowds, and then spend the afternoon at the condo.
We let the girls know that we weren't planning on staying all day so they could each choose a few rides. We settled on Fireman's Landing and the hot air balloons, but since we go there right as the park opened, we had to wait for the train.
We were the very first ones on the Hot Air Balloon ride!
The girls love the hot air balloon ride, but it's always the longest way. We were pumped to be the first ones on!
The area wasn't crowded at all, so the girls didn't have to wait at all for any of the rides!
We love this little area, because the girls can ride the rides by themselves. DJ and I were just chilling watching them run around and enjoy themselves.

Once we finished the rides in Fireman's Landing, DJ suggested we head over to the American Plunge, log ride. We actually have never taken the girls on this ride before. Once we got over there, Megan was freaking out, so we decided to divide and conquer. I took Gretchen and we planned to "prove" to Megan that it wasn't scary. But, she wasn't buying it, and G was pretty terrified too, but she did it!

Oh, and we walked right on this ride too, which was totally crazy.
The girls got a quick drink....
And then we walked on to Fire In the Hole.
We decided to ride the river raft and I got soaked! But Megan and Gretchen loved it so much that DJ took them around again while Addy and I waited for them.
We let the girls ride the Tom Sawyer water ride, and they got soaked! Once again, we were so thankful that they were tall enough to ride alone! DJ and I hate this ride, because you're literally a sitting duck and you get soaking wet!
We were having the best morning!
We stopped for ice cream, and then called it a day.
Heading back to the condo, you could see the lake full of boats! And y'all, that view!
We went back to the condo, changed in to different bathing suits, and headed to the pool.
We had a little photo op.
And then grabbed appetizers pool side.
We always let the girls get Shirley Temples when we're at the resort in Branson. They think it's the best thing ever.
The rest of the afternoon was spent splashing and playing.
The resort we stay at has a splash pad and kiddie area, and a huge slide, and then they have a separate pool.
We stayed for hours and the girls were having the best time!

Around 5, we called it a night, ordered a pizza from the restaurant, went back to the condo to eat and change in to pj's. We curled up and watched Toy Story, and Adalyn and I were both asleep by 7!
We woke up Sunday morning and got dressed to check out and head home. We let the girls stop and play at the playground before heading out.

One last photo before we go.
On our way home, se stopped in Springfield to eat at Penn Station, which was our favorite restaurant when we lived in Indiana. We were so excited to find one in Springfield, so we stop anytime we're nearby! Their cookies are the best!
We had a fun little getaway, and it was the perfect kick off to summer!
