Megan's 8th Birthday

Last Thursday, we tucked in our 7 year old for the last time.
She was excited to go to bed as her last night as a 7 year old. She kept saying, "this is the last bath I'll have as a 7 year old.... this is the last time I'll shake my booty as a 7 year old."
She told DJ a few weeks ago that he needed to grow a beard, so he hasn't shaved in a few days!

After she was in bed, I wrapped her present, set out her cards that she's received, and got down our birthday plate.
And then, when she was good and asleep, DJ and I put crepe paper all over her doorway.

The next morning, she woke up and I heard her scream, "can I get out of birthday jail?!"
She was up bright and early, and immediately opened her cards
Gee and PaPaw sent her money. She was SO excited!
And she's been asking for a mermaid tail, so we gave her one.
We also surprised her with horse riding lessons! She's asked off and on for several times, so we decided to try one lesson to see how she really liked it.
Gretchen made her a slingshot!
She got dressed for school and we made her cinnamon rolls per her request.
We sang her Happy Birthday...
and she made her wish.
Then it was off to school!  She requested that we bring her doughnuts to her classroom, and parents aren't allowed to come back so we dropped them off to the office later that morning.
After school, Megan had gymnastics, so we went a little early to watch her.
She earned the super star award too!
After gymnastics, we took her to The Domain to eat.
I sure do love this middle!
I ordered the turkey club with truffle fries and it was delicious!  DJ had lobster and crab ravioli and said it was wonderful!
Just a girl and her dad.
The restaurant brought her out dessert, and the rest of us splurged and ordered dessert too!
We were sitting outside and it was windy, so the candle wouldn't light, but she pretended anyway!
Saturday afternoon, Megan had her horse riding lesson.
She warmed up quickly and had so much fun! She learned how to make the horse go, stop, learned how to tighten and loosen the reigns, and turn.

And when she was done, she fed the horse BBQ potato chips.
She even gave him a kiss when she was done.
Doesn't she look like a pro?!

We had the best time celebrating Megan. Often as the "middle child" I feel like she gets jipped out of things. Plus, it's the end of the school year and life has been so busy! I wanted to make this day special for her, and even though some of it was last minute, I think she had a fun day celebrating!

We have her birthday party this weekend with her friends and can't wait to celebrate just a little bit more!
