Trick or Treat

Halloween this year was a lot! It's one of those holidays that I want to savor and enjoy all of October, and life just gets crazy, and the weekend of Halloween we are squeezing it alll in! But, gosh we made some fun memories this year.

All year the girls have talked about how they would dress as the Wizard of Oz characters. I took them to buy costumes earlier in October and as soon as we walked in to Spirit Halloween, they all changed their minds.
Adalyn opted for Addison the Alien in Zombies 3. Megan really wanted to be a witch, but when I took the girls earlier this month, the costume wasn't in her size. With gymnastics and her never being home, we weren't able to find her costume until last Friday. I don't recommend waiting three days before Halloween to find a costume. She was in tears. Nothing was in her size, and we went to 3 different stores. I found her ring master costume on the floor of Wal-Mart's costume section, and thankfully she loved it! The top hat was missing with the costume, but I told her I would just hop on Amazon and order her one!

DJ was off this weekend, so he took the girls to our neighborhood trunk or treat Saturday night. I had opted to not change out of pj's or put on makeup on Saturday, so him taking them was the best bet.
They met up with one of our neighbors and had so much fun at the trunk or treat.
While they were trunk or treating, I was picking Gretchen up from play practice. Later that night she went with her friends to a haunted trail and went out to eat.
Sunday after church, we stopped by HEB to buy pumpkins. Even though we took the girls to the pumpkin patch last weekend, we didn't buy pumpkins from there. They're so expensive! $7.00 for a pumpkin is a much better option- ha!
I have to admit, the girls getting bigger and being able to completely carve their own pumpkins is the best. I helped cut the tops off, and then I went inside and didn't come back out again until they were finished. They literally did it all. And that my friends is a perk of your kids getting bigger.
On Halloween night, I made pumpkin and bat ravioli from Costco. DJ arrived home, and we all went trick or treating. It made me think that this could be our very last year to trick or treat together as a family.
An alien, Wednesday Adams, and our ring master.

Gretchen was feeling her costume. She may have only chosen it because of the headless doll, but she went full on Wednesday Adams mode.

Just waiting on dad to hurry up.
Two parents ready to take their kids out.
We walked 2 miles, I closed my exercise ring, beat my move goal, and we came home with a ton of candy!
Halloween was a complete win!
