Weekend Wrap Up: Christmas Festivities

DJ was off for the first weekend in months, and while I'm sure his plan was to sit around and watch football games all weekend, I had other plans!
Friday morning, we were all well enough to go to school. The girls found our elf with a friend and a new book sitting in the Christmas tree. They were super excited that our elf, Sally had a friend. We let Megan name him, and she chose Candy Landy. Truth be told, we have had an extra elf sitting around since last year when DJ had to go buy a new one since we somehow misplaced our original elf. We came across the idea of having Elsa freeze the elf, and DJ said we could only do it if we had an extra elf..... and then I remembered we did! For now, we told the girls that our elf needed to bring a friend since he was out numbered watching the girls. I can't wait to see the mischief these two will get in to! So, Friday morning, Megan was chit chatting it up to the elves before she headed to school.
And then around 2:30, I got a phone call from the nurse at Megan's preschool saying she didn't feel well. Thankfully, she didn't have a fever, but she said that she just wasn't herself. Unfortunately, I couldn't come and pick her up because I had two meetings scheduled for the end of the day. The nurse let her stay in her office until the end of her day and then took her to the B&A care. I picked her up as soon as I could leave work, and she fell asleep on the way home. She really didn't feel like herself, but she definitely did not have a fever. DJ was getting off early, so he picked up Adalyn, and the big girls and I headed home. Megan slept until about 6 on the sofa, and when she woke up she complained that her ear hurt. I applied some oils and within a few minutes, she ended up eating dinner and then was back to her happy self. So, I still have no clue what was really wrong with her, but I'm just glad that she got better quick!
DJ headed back to football for recruiting, so the girls and I had a movie night. We rented Inside Out and it was so cute!
Adalyn chatted with her elf friends.
And curled up on the bean bag with a few of her favorite babies. Well, her sister's favorite babies! Addy is getting a bean bag for Christmas so she doesn't have to steal her big sisters anymore!
She caught me taking pictures, so she hammed it up.
And started to make silly faces.
And then Megan joined in on the fun!
The girls shared Christmas snacks and goodies with a little picnic and then headed off to bed.
Saturday morning we surprised the girls with a trip to the Broken Arrow Christmas parade.
Addy had the best view!
Just watching the parade with a few of my favorite peeps.
The big girls weasled their way up front so they could get lots of candy!
Santa came in a jeep. #whatevs
But Addy was excited and waved and waved!
After the Christmas parade, we decided to head to Bass Pro to visit their Winter Wonderland and to visit Santa.
The wait was over an hour, so DJ got us a line at their restaurant, while the girls and I visited the winter wonderland. We saw toy trains, raced cars, and colored a picture for Santa.
Coloring for Santa is serious work!

After lunch, we got in line and chased Addy around.
She posed for the camera.
And then made silly faces again. I really don't know where this fad of hers came from, but she's quiet a ham!
Gretchen waiting to see Santa! She was super excited, and I can't help but to feel sad that this might be her very last year to "believe" in Santa. Next year, she'll be almost 9, and it was the same time that I stopped believing. I'm trying to really enjoy this Christmas with her, since it might be the last that's really magical.
I tried to get a picture of the girls in front of the tree, but Addy wanted to hug her sisters and not turn around.
But the big girls cooperated.
Isn't it precious how much these two love each other?!
It's almost their turn!
Gretchen took off, and the other two cautiously approached.
Santa told them all where to stand for the perfect picture.
But, Adalyn wasn't having this whole Santa thing.
I mean, she at least tried to calm down.
After pictures, Addy ran to DJ and the big girls stayed behind for their candy canes.
And, they may have been the most thrilled about the candy canes!
As Gretchen walked away, we caught Megan having a serious talk with the big man himself.

After our Santa visit, we made it home so DJ could catch up on the games. I took a nap and then Meggie and I headed to the grocery store. We came home for dinner, got the girls in the tub, and then put them in their Christmas jammies so we could decorate our Christmas tree!
They were super excited and couldn't wait to put up the ornaments.
And, we only broke one ornament this year!
They were great helpers!
And, the ornaments didn't all end up in the same place, and since Gretchen is taller, she was able to put some in the middle of the tree! I found myself not redecorating after they went to bed!

And once the tree was finished, the girls got a Christmas cookie while they watched me finish off the top.
And, then they went upstairs to read The Night Before Christmas before heading off to bed
We went to the early service, so Gretchen was able to see her best friend. She was thrilled to be able to see him at church, and I found them coloring together when the services was over.

DJ headed back to football and the girls and I went to Target. We came home for lunch, Addy took a nap, the big girls and I picked up the house and worked on laundry.
And then we cuddled up to watch The Polar Express!

I think we jammed pack lots of Christmas in to this weekend!
