Fri-Yay!!!!!
It's time for Friday Favorites and as usual, I'm linking up with a few blog friends for Friday Favorites and sharing a few of our favorite moments from Summertime!
School officially ended for us last Monday, so we've had about two full weeks of Summer around here!
Last week we took our snack time to the park! The girls rode their bikes, I walked, and when we arrived, they played and played.
We stopped for a snack break, played a little more, and rode our bikes back home.
My mom had arrived later that afternoon because Megan's birthday was the next day. After Megan's last gymnastics class, Gee took us all for ice cream!
There's not much better than ice cream on a summer night!
And the next morning, I woke up to Gretchen drinking hot chocolate and playing on her iPod, and she instantly looked older to me.
And then all of my childhood dreams came true, when I saw New Kids on the Block, Boys II Men, and Paula Abdul in concert!
Two of the ladies that I work with went with me, and we had so much fun!
Donnie can put on a show. He was loving the attention from the ladies!
We weren't too close to the main stage, but they set up a stage in the back and went through the crowd to get there. It was nuts!
After seeing Donnie work it, he's now my new favorite New Kid.
Bur Jordan was probably my favorite from when I was younger.
Let me tell you.... a night of singing to Boys II Men, watching Paula do her thing on stage, and then swooning over the New Kids, just made me all sorts of giddy. I'm ranking this my number 2 Favorite concert ever.
Thursday morning was hair cut day! Gretchen and I both had a hair cut, and I just need my stylist, to come to my house every single day to fix my hair.
We all joined DJ for lunch.
He took us to Lassalle's and we had the best cajun food and shrimp poboys!
By the time we got home, all of the girls were sleeping!
Friday morning (my hair still looked good) we got up and packed for a weekend at the lake!
I'm loving my new t-shirt!
Megan was so cold after lunch! She bundled up in my Evy's Tree wrap, and slept while sucking on her sucker from lunch.
Our Memorial Day weekend lake trip did not go exactly as planned, but we had fun anyway!
DJ had to pick up the boat and get it in the water, and the girls and I went to get a few groceries. He took the boat trailer back to his dad's shop, and the brake got stuck! So, we had to have his dad's truck towed! Most of Friday night, DJ wasn't around because he was taking care of the truck. Meanwhile, I was cleaning the boat, and the girls were swimming.
We had a huge storm come through Friday night and knock out power. It was on for an hour, and then it went out the rest of the day. When we got up Saturday morning, we found out the boat battery had gone out, so we were waiting for power to come back on so we could jump the boat. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, so my brother picked up a boat battery since they were on their way to join us!
While all of that was happening, Gretchen climbed trees.
And then we finally got in the water and out in the boat!!!!
Adalyn was not a fan of the deep water!
But this fish was!!!
Boat naps are the best!
After dinner, we still didn't have electricity, so we had an early camp fire and made s'mores.
Thankfully, the power came back on around 10:15 pm and we all slept well in the air conditioning!
The next morning we went to a little cafe in the downtown for breakfast.
And headed to the park to play, despite the playground being soaked!
My brother, sister in law, and niece headed home a little before noon, and took Gretchen with them, so she could spend the following week with my mom. It was cloudy in the morning, so we weren't on the water until much later in the afternoon!
The girls played on the dock for a while until we convinced DJ to take us on a boat ride.
And Megan tubed her little heart out....
she was feeling so brave! This is the first year she's tubed by herself, and she's a pro!
I'll tan...... he drives.
And Adalyn took another boat nap.
Once she woke up, we headed to the marina at the other lake to feed the fish.
And have ice cream.
I sure do love these little girls.
We came back and had dinner, and then went on a sunset boat ride.
Both of the girls drove with DJ and we took one family selfie before calling it a night.
Monday morning we headed home..... but I found these adorable little marker books at a toy store by our lunch spot, so I picked them up to help keep the girls entertained in the car!
Oh my gosh, that concert sounds amazing! And I love your shirt!
