Last Thursday, we headed back to school! Summer flew by and I wasn't ready for the first day, but eventually, it had to arrive.
This year, I am so thankful that all of the girls are attending public school! No more daycare payments!!! Praise Sweet Baby Jesus! I cannot wait to see that return in my paychecks!
Adalyn started preschool at a school super close to mine. I will be able to drop her off on my way and pick her up and head straight home.... last year, we drove 20 minutes out of the way to pick her up and then 20 minutes back home, and it was exhausting. I just feel like this will be life changing for us.
We had been trying to pump her up for preschool all of August, but she kept saying that it wouldn't be fun, she didn't want to go, and she would just stay home by herself. #wishfulthinking (I feel the same way!) But, after her first day, she was hooked!
I found this super cute chalkboard at Target earlier this summer, and in trying to be super prepared, I wrote on it for Adalyn the night before... and it didn't erase. So, the big girls, went back to our old reliable chalk boards, and didn't get a fun one. #momfail.
Addy's favorite colors are orange, purple, and pink. And she wants to be a princess when she grows up! Ha!
Megan started 1st grade! She has been a little nervous, but I think she will end up being fine. She's always nervous and timid in new situations. But, her best friend is with her, and I think it's making the transition much easier.
She's most excited about learning how to read, and is a little afraid of learning math! I'm most excited that I'll still see her at recess each day!
These girls wore matching outfits that their Gee bought them last Fall, but big sister decided she was too big to match.
She picked out her own first day of school outfit.
Gretchen is in 4th grade, and I'm in such disbelief. I swear it was yesterday when we were dropping her off at kindergarten. She is so excited about everything school related- she loves school!
Three sisters ready for school.
DJ met us at Adalyn's preschool. He had to run in to the office that morning, but he was able to sneak away for about an hour. So, together, we dropped off each of our girls. Adalyn found her locker and put everything away.
I gave her a quick squeeze, and then it was daddy's turn.
Two years ago, we were dropping Megan off in the exact same classroom.
After dropping off Adalyn, we headed to my school to drop off the girls. We took Megan to her classroom first.
And then walked Gretchen to her hall. She and DJ took a quick photo before she rushed to greet her teacher. She is way too big to have her parents walk her in to class. Sigh.
We all had a great first day! It went by fast, all of the students seemed to transition well, and the girls enjoyed their day!
We came straight home after staying at work an extra hour making sure all of the kiddos were home safely (our office was nuts!) And I'm pretty sure I crashed super early that night!
Here's to a great (and fast) school year!
