Spring Break Camping: Texarkana

We ended our Spring Break with a camping trip in Texarkana, Texas. Mostly because we really wanted to break up the long drive home from Jonesboro to Austin. We had booked 1 night to stay in Texarkana, but earlier in the week, we decided to go ahead and stay 2 nights and thankfully our spot was open for a 2nd night.

At first I wanted to just spend one night and get home Saturday so I'd have a day home before heading back to work, but we really love camping and we aren't going again until the end of May so we opted for a 2nd night and I'm so glad that we did!
We arrived to our campsite around 4 and we had the perfect spot right on the lake. It was beautiful.
While we were setting up, the girls were exploring and begging us to let them get in the water. I'm not sure if it's just my kids, but they don't care that it's low 70s, they just want to swim! We told them absolutely, no way, were they getting in!
When we arrived at the campground, we were given a bag of goodies so the girls went through it. they got ranger stickers, frisbees, an activity book, and water guns!
I mean, we couldn't have asked for a better spot.
We cooked dinner, and while DJ, Gretchen, and I sat outside, these girls wanted to eat inside.
We had the best sunsets while we were there.
And that evening, the girls made smores and roasted marshmallows.
Saturday morning, I popped Citronella and Orange oils in our diffuser and we started our day! The girls headed right to the playground and there were so many kids! They had so much fun playing there. Meanwhile, DJ and I cleaned up breakfast, and watched some TV- ha!
Around 11, we went for a walk around the campground.
We walked down to the water and skipped rocks for a while.
We had lunch, the girls played some more, and we tore them away from the playground for a hike.
This is how Adalyn felt about the hike the entire time! She was not a fan! When I told her we were going hiking she said, "oh man, and I thought I was going to enjoy this camping trip!"
We on the other hand, had a blast.
We even found the "grand canyon" of the area.
The hike back was much easier for Adalyn. She and DJ pretended they were characters in MacGyver and she didn't complain once about the walk back!
We finished the evening with dinner, more smores, and that gorgeous sunset.

It was the perfect end to our Spring Break.
