DJ has about 2 weeks off every summer and this year, we opted for several small camping trips rather than a big Summer vacation.
A few weeks before his time off, we had zero plans, and he said "let's go somewhere, if I don't getaway, I'll be insane by February." I get it, his work schedule is demanding, and he puts in 12-14 hours day August through December (and sometimes longer if we get to a bowl game), and then recruiting season hits, and he doesn't have time off until February. And even then he gets like 3 days.
So, we booked a spot at Jellystone in Burleson, Tx because they have a water park and lots of activities for kids.
We left on Tuesday morning, and drove the 2 1/2 hours to Burleson.
After we set up out spot, we put on our swimsuits so we could hit up the water park.
The girls immediately climbed their way across, before hitting up slides with us.
After lots of water slide time, we made our way over to the smaller area for a bit, and then went back to the camper for dinner.
The girls played Clue and snacked on pretzels while waiting for dinner.
And I had a great view from my hammock.
After dinner we went to explore the playground area and went through the Lost Maze.
Heading in to the maze...
we only got lost a few times. ;)
After we played, it was time for showers and bed!
Wednesday morning we woke up and had breakfast. I try to pre-make sourdough pancakes and bring the batter with us. I'll admit- we eat much better when we're camping than we do at home!
After breakfast, we had some time before the water park opened, so the girls went to play games and they ran in to the bears.
Then we headed down to the petting zoo.
The girls fed the goats, pet the pigs, and alpaca's.
And then DJ met us
Megan and Booboo went on a little walk!
And then we found the ropes play ground
The rope swing.
and the climbing wall.
It was a full morning before the water park opened at 11! We stopped back by the camper to have breakfast, changed clothes, and hit the pool for day 2.
The girls were constantly on the big slides. They stopped about mid-afternoon for a snow cone break.
DJ deserved a snow cone too, because he was with the girls going up and down the slides.
While they were having fun on the slides (I went down a few times too) I mostly read and cooled off in the lazy river.
That night we had dinner, took showers, and went to bed early- it was a full day!
On our next day, we did the exact same thing! We skipped some of the park festivities, and stayed at the camper longer, but we were at the park soon after it opened.
These girls were ready to play.
DJ and I stayed in the shade a bit more on our last day.
We opted the leave in the middle of the day, and went back for lunch. I took the girls down to play on the jump pad, but it was hot!
We decided to head in to the activities center for some arts and crafts time.
The girls painted, and then we had ice cream.
Then it was back for dinner. Megan found a huge stick at our campground and was dying to bring it home.
After dinner, we hit up the "hey hey hey ride"
It was a great end to our 3 day get away.
