Pie Throwing Day!

Friday was the Walk-a-Thon assembly at Gretchen's school.  I blogged last week about all of her 1st grade fun and a bit about the walk-a-thon. The walk-a-thon is her school's annual fundraiser, and all of the proceeds go directly to the teachers! The child that raises the most money in each grade level receives an electric scooter, and the child that raised the most money in the entire school won an iPad mini! All of the children who raised $100.00 or more were able to throw a pie in a teacher's face, and that was more than enough motivation for Gretchen!
Here she is with a few other 1st grade friends!

The day that Gretchen received the information about the fundraiser, she was determined that she would throw a pie in my face! I told her that if she could raise $100.00 that she was more than welcome to throw a pie in my face! Thanks to local friends and tons of you on Facebook, she was able to raise $112.00 for her school!

Which meant, that she would get to throw a pie in my face. I let my principal know about our challenge, and she said that I would have to let all of the children have a chance to throw a pie in my face if they wanted. Challenge accepted.
So, here we are before all of the pie throwing craziness began!

I have a video of her throwing a pie in my face, but I DJ hasn't had a chance to upload it.
Here's a bit of the craziness! Our assistant principal, principal, one of our gym teachers, myself, and our school counselor (who also let her stepson throw a pie in her face). We had goggles and covers, but the pie went everywhere! The goggles didn't help much at all, and should I ever do this again, I will be wearing a shower cap.
We have over 800 students in our school and they were all able to watch!
Here's our principal!
And me! I had to come home and take a shower right away, that mess was caked in my hair!

I ended up having about 5 of the 60 students choose to throw a pie at me!

The students raised over $12,000.00!!!! Since that will go directly back to our teachers and students, I would have pies thrown in my face all over again!
