Back to School Traditions

Since we're heading back to school this week, I thought I'd share a few of our Back To School Traditions!

Last week, the girls and I got pumped up for school by decorating our corner nook in the kitchen in a back to school theme.

I stacked up my childhood books and did a little subway art style chalkboard on an easel.
I added crazy straws and a few more books.
A bucket of crayons.
And a big jar of apples.

My grandma thought I was nuts when I was grabbing a ton of her fake apples that she was going to throw out, but I knew exactly what I'd use them for.
I added a red candle and a burlap banner in the background.
The girls made little school busses that I hung up.

We have a few other fun back to school traditions too.

We love reading "The Night Before" books. We have the Preschool, Kindergarten, and 1st grade. I didn't buy one for Gretchen this year because they don't make a Night Before 2nd grade book.
Back to School pictures are a must! Of course!
The girls always have a fun back to school outfit! Since Gretchen started kindergarten (around the same time my mom and I started embroidering) I've been able to make the girls shirts and outfits for the first day.
I've also gotten Gretchen a little gift for back to school the last few years. For kindergarten, I bought her a school bus chunky  necklace. She ended up wearing the necklace every day for the first several weeks of kindergarten. I also bought her a necklace for 1st grade. This year, I've bought her a matching mother and me cuff from Rustic Cuff. I haven't gotten it in yet, so I'll share more when we get it in the mail!

Last year, we bought Gretchen's teacher a little gift, and this year we did teacher gifts too!
The girls have made all of their teachers an Essential Oil hand cream to use!

So, these are a few of our back to school traditions! I'd love to hear yours!!!
