Open Houses & First Days

It's back to school week with HPA, and today, I'm finally sharing our open houses/meet the teachers and our first days back at school.

We headed back to school a week ago today, and hopefully we're settling in to some sort of a routine! Some days are great, and other days are hectic, but we're getting there!
On August 13th, Adalyn had her meet the teacher night at her preschool. The girls have been attending the same preschool since we moved to Oklahoma 5 years ago. Now Adalyn is the only one left there, and I'm super sad knowing that she only has two more years here.

The night that her meet the teacher rolled around, I did not really want to go. Since we had been at this preschool for so long, we know the ins and outs, we know most of the teachers, and I was tired. But, I pulled my act together and the girls and I headed to meet Addy's teacher and see her new classroom.
I think Addy was a little confused at first, but she saw her sisters playing and she quickly joined them. Plus, her teachers gave her bubbles, so they won her over.

The following Monday was her first day of preschool and my first day back at work. I had teacher inservices for three days, so my mom came and stayed with the big girls, but I took Addy to preschool each day. Unfortunately, she had gone to bed late the night before and felt like this in the morning:
I felt the same way.

We finally bribed her to take a picture by letting her put on her backpack.
The girl loves her backpack! She constantly wants to wear it. She knows that it belongs to her, and she won't let you forget it!
I made her first day of school outfit.

Tuesday night, my mom took Gretchen to ballet, picked up Adalyn from preschool, and then brought the girls to my school so Gretchen could meet her teacher. I told Gretchen she had to change clothes after ballet and she did. However, my mom let Megan wear this:
A leotard, tights, and ballet shoes. Never mind the fact that she did not have ballet that night.
We headed down the hall to see Gretchen's desk.
And to meet her teacher!
And then Megan did flips down the hallway.

Wednesday night was Megan's meet the teacher night. Since Megan is going to a new preschool and she hates changes, I knew that we had to go in order to start the year off right.
Thankfully, Megan was super excited about seeing her classroom and meeting her teachers.
She has two teachers in her class.
And, we snapped a picture in front of her locker.
Then the girls stopped by the "jail" before we headed to fill out paperwork and buy a school t-shirt.

On the 20th, the big girls woke up bright and early and were super excited about school! DJ saved me and took Adalyn to daycare, so the girls and I had plenty of time to get ready and take pictures.
Sisters ready to go!
"Backpacks and Bling, it's a Pre-K Thing!"
Her little pose cracks me up!
Gretchen's 1st day of 2nd grade.
"Big Bow, Cute Shoes, 2nd Grade, Let's Do This!"
Megan thought Gretchen's idea of pointing to her grade was a genius, and had to do it too.
Pictures w/ their backpacks on.

Once we finished taking pictures, we headed to meet DJ. He hopped in the car with us, because I knew parking at the pre-k center would be crazy. We walked the girls in.
I love how Gretchen held her hand!
Megan put away her backpack and immediately went to the little writing center to write her name.
We took a few pictures.
And then we were off. Megan didn't cry, whine, beg, or cling. The dropoff was so much better than I had expected, and a few tears sprung to my eyes when I realized that she didn't need me and she was doing great!

Our dropoffs have continued to go seamlessly and I'm so proud of my little pre-k kid!

After dropping off Megan, we took Gretchen to school.
DJ held her hand and walked her to class.

We took one more picture before she went in, and that was that!

We all had great first days!
