The Friday of Father's Day weekend, we loaded up and headed to DJ's parents house in Arkansas! We were there Memorial Day weekend and weren't planning to go until later this summer, but DJ has to be back at work sooner than we realized, so we shuffled around our little summer trips!
We arrived around 4 in the afternoon, and DJ's parents had to head out to a dinner they had planned. While they headed to dinner, we headed to the lake.
The girls love taking turns driving the boat with their dad.
And our American Girl dolls came along too.
Meggie was a little fish! She jumped right in and had tons of fun!
Gretchen's a water baby, she has always loved being at the lake!
Sisters!
Saturday morning we took a short drive over to DJ's sister's house for our niece's birthday party.
We left a little early and ate pizza and then made a trip to Home Depot with DJ's dad. The girls loved the race car buggy!
We spent the rest of the afternoon at Emmie's birthday party- playing in water toys, and eating birthday cake and popsicles!
Nana and Addy had a water fight! Nana lost!!!
Sunday morning, we woke up to bright skies and sunshine!
And, it was Father's Day!!!!!
We decided to give DJ his Father's day present on Thursday night. It was too large to take with us.
He's been wanting a new weed-eater, so that's what he got!
And then he put it together and went to weed-eat the grass.
DJ and the little girls ran an errand Sunday morning, so I joined Gretchen outside while she played in the sandbox.
And then it was time to swim!
Just hanging out with DJ and watching our girls swim.
Family picture time! Minus Gretchen since she was too busy swimming. And y'all, that look on Addy's face!!!!! I have no idea what her deal is!
And then time for silly faces!
Oh yes, that's better!
Silly faces!
Monday morning, we woke up and headed back to DJ's sister's house. His mom was still in town and we wanted to spend some time with them. We stopped at Target and then the mall where they met us, and then we headed to CFA for lunch.
The girls traded in their toys for ice cream!
After lunch, we headed to the football facility at Arkansas State. This is where DJ and I went to college and where it all began. Just about 12 years ago, we met and my love of football was forced to begin! ASU has grown a ton! They recently built a new press box and indoor facility and thanks to their video coordinator, we were able to tour both. And, they were impressive!
We headed back to DJ's sisters house and the kids played in the sprinklers again.
I get the feeling these two will be life long buddies.
We spent Monday night, had lunch with DJ's mom, and then headed back to the lake.
I mean, traveling is what we do best in summer!
Snack buddies.
Unfortunately, Addy and I were both super tired on Tuesday afternoon. I tried to get her to take a nap, but she wouldn't unless I layed down with her...... 2 hours later, I woke up and it was time for dinner!
But, later that night we had tons of fun!
Wednesday morning's are for dog piling!
I could literally lay here all day every day.
She was so much happier!
And then she was tired! She and Megan both fell asleep on the boat!
Snack time!
Meggie and I tubed together, Gretchen and I tubed together, and then I tubed by myself. We broke out the knee board, and I learned that I'm not as young as I use to be! But, I eventually got up twice, and then couldn't pull my 360 like I use to!
Love this little girl!
She wanted a picture of her baby!
We spent the evening on the lake, swimming and floating, and we ended with an epic water gun fight!
Dinner time finally rolled around and the girls wanted to fish while dinner was being cooked. We didn't catch anything, but that's probably because we were using corn for bait!
Thursday morning we packed up and headed home to regroup before we left for Dallas!!!! I'll be recapping that trip soon!!!!
