Come On In: Adalyn's Room

When we moved in to our house last summer, Adalyn wasn't quite two and we knew that she wasn't ready to transition in to a big girl bed and room yet. So, we set her nursery up in the new house and planned to wait until this year to spruce up her bedroom.

We transitioned her from her crib to her toddler bed (her crib just converted) back in March and she did great! Except now sometimes she sneaks in our bed in the middle of the night or early morning!

Several weeks ago, I began scouring the internet to figure out what exactly I wanted for Adalyn's bedroom. She has lots of color in her bedroom furniture (pink, yellow, green) and I knew we needed something that could tie everything in together, like her crib bedding had done.
I found this duvet cover on Pottery Barn Kids, and it was perfect! The background is deep pink, and there are tons of flowers in light pink, yellow, green, and purple.

We moved her furniture around a bit, so this is the view from her door.
And then looking to the other side of the room.
My mom had a Jenny Lind bed, that I knew would be perfect for Addy's room, and we had a mattress set put away. When we left my mom's last week, we brought Addy's bed home. Unfortunately, when we got it in the room, we realized her bed and mattress were two different sizes! Thankfully, we had a bed frame that was the right size, so we set that up for the mattress, and we wedged the headboard in behind. And, you can't tell at all that it's about an inch too small on each side.
Adalyn loves horses. We have several in a field behind our house and she loves looking for horses every day. I found these horse sheets at Target and they had the perfect colors to tie in with her duvet.
The frames above her bed, we had in her nursery. I picked them up at a local thrift store and they were already repainted and distressed. I also found the large urn painting from the same store, and my friend made her crown sign with a Bible verse. Above her bed is also the canvas from her one year portraits and a dress that was mine when I was a baby.
This little nightstand was made by my great grandfather. It holds her board books perfectly, and I painted it a distressed yellow when she was a baby.
We found this distressed pink nightstand when we were buying her nursery furniture and it fits perfectly on the other side of her bed.
At the end of her bed, is her distressed green dresser. I have always loved that it adds a pop of color to her room. We've had the pink mirror since Gretchen was a baby, and it was stored away, but I brought it back out so she could have a little mirror.
Since Adalyn loves horses, I wanted to incorporate one on her wall somewhere. Hobby Lobby had this unicorn head and Addy thinks it's a horse! It works perfectly.
For now, her rocking chair is still in the room, and beside it is the storage for most of her toys. We have some other baskets of toys scattered about her room as well.

We decided to not paint her room this summer. We are probably going to wait until next spring/early summer to paint. When we moved in, we painted both Gretchen and Megan's bedroom, but we let them choose the color. And, I'm honestly having a hard time picking out a color for Addy's room. I'm leaning toward light pink or a light yellow, but she has so much color in her room already that I'm not sure if it would be too much. If you have a color suggestion, I'd love to hear it! Gretchen's room is bright pink and Megan's room is lavender, so I didn't want to put a bright color in her room.

So, that's her big girl room! We are loving the space and her bed is so cozy!
