Hey friends! I'm so glad you're back today!!!! We took a little detour from our Dallas Vacation recap yesterday because Adalyn turned 3!!! We celebrated her big time (which I'll be sharing soon) and loved spending the day together as a family. We're having her party in a few weeks when all of our traveling slows down.
Today I'm recapping our third and final full day in Dallas! We decided to hit up Dallas this year rather than St. Louis, which I had originally planned for in my Summer Bucket List! You can see our Day 1 here and Day 2 here.
Day 3 started Monday morning and we had plans to hit up the Lego Store and American Girl. But, y'all, Dallas is hot! Gretchen learned a lesson from our Sunday and told me her hair had to be up. Her hair is super thick and I can't blame her, mine is in a pony tail or top knot almost every single day in the summer! So, I french braided her hair and took a picture to send to her nana. Her nana is a french braid rock star, and I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't have the slightest clue how to french braid hair until nana showed me a few weeks ago. I don't think I did too bad!
So, after getting dressed and braiding hair, we were off to the Lego Store. We purchased our tickets in advance and arrived at 10. (You choose an arrival time when you buy your tickets, which cuts the wait time down!)
When we arrived, they took our pictures in front of a green screen, but none of them turned out because Megan wore a green dress! So, half of her body was missing, and we didn't buy them. After we took pictures, we went in to this little waiting area, where there were lego sets on the wall.
The girls immediately started building.
And I think everyone should just have this at their house because how genius is it!
And the doors opened and we were greeted by a "professor". She showed everyone how legos were made, and the girls were chosen to help spin the wheels to "paint" the legos.
And everyone got a commemorative lego to bring home.
After that it was time to explore! We did a little ride, and Megan was not a fan! And I have no pictures from that- I'm just sharing because Meggie thought it was terrifying, but it wasn't too bad. If you've been to Disney, it was very similar to the Toy Story ride.
Legoland had a reproduction of Dallas- all built out of........ you guessed it,.......... Legos!
We saw the airport.
And remember the Dallas building I shared in our day 1 recap?
And look- a recreation of legoland!
Addy Pearl found a tiny kid play area and had a blast.
And the big girls built lego cars and raced them.
And then we went in to watch the 4-D movie, and I must admit, I've seen better 4-D movies..... maybe it's because we don't watch many t.v. shows that are geared to boys, but I just wasn't enthused, and other 4-D movies I've been too have shaking seats and more effects. This one just had wind and bubbles? But, it's probably a good thing it wasn't more intense, because Megan was scared of the movie too.
But the girls loved their 3-D glasses!
Afterwards, we went in to the Star Wars room.
And then we waited for another ride.
We had to wait forever to this ride because several of the cars weren't working, so we let Megan go in one group and Gretchen in another.
Addy wasn't big enough so she had to watch from the sidelines.
Gretchen's turn!
So, after this ride we had pretty much done everything that Lego Land has to offer. Except, they did have a play structure in the middle, but we didn't bring socks, so we had to skip it, and the girl lego area had been removed so the girls didn't get to play there. Lego Land also had an outdoor splash pad, which I didn't know about, so we skipped that too. Had I known about needing socks and the splash pad we could have spent a lot more time there. There is a little cafe so I can easily see how someone could spend an entire day there.
We visited the Lego store afterwards, and the big girls reached picked out a lego set to bring home.
And they took pictures with the Lego Friends. They love watching the show on Nick and Netflix!
Look at the basketball player made with legos!!!!
After Lego Land, we walked around the mall for the Rainforest Cafe. We were sat in the middle of the restaurant which was nice, because the girls would have been terrified of the gigantic gorillas and tigers.
We were originally sat in this round booth, but the space was so tight that DJ asked if we could change tables.
And then we realized that Adalyn's ballet baby was missing, so I frantically started thinking about how we were going to get a replacement. I called the Lego Land store and couldn't get through to the actual store- just a ticket line, and I started tracking down local stores that might have a ballet baby or one similar.
I was frantic, but once our food came we settled down and enjoyed our meal. We took some selfies while waiting on our check.
After our meal, we walked all the way back around to the Lego Land store. I should note that the mall is a huge circle and both stores are on totally opposite sides- it was a long walk! So, I went in to Lego Land and let them know we had lost a baby doll. They let me back in and I went to lost and found and there was nothing. We knew that she had it in the movie, and thankfully one group was just about to go in, so I waited in line and let the clerk know what I was doing. I looked under seats, behind seats, and all around and we didn't find her. So, I tracked over to the cars, and looked under benches and we still couldn't find the baby. Then I remembered to look at the photos on my phone so I could narrow down when we last had her, and it was obvious that it was while we were in the store. I checked all around and headed to the register, when I saw her- patiently waiting, sitting in a lego display on the counter. Apparently someone had found her and sat her there so she could await our return.
This baby is ratty and well loved, and I don't know what we would do without her. Adalyn has pulled out all of the stuffing (except for what's in the head because she can't reach it) and it's a hot mess, but it's also her best friend. So glad we found her!
So, we left Lego Land and we headed toward the Galleria for the American Girl doll store.
The girls checked out the new Wellie dolls in the window. (I'm thinking they'll be a nice Christmas gift!) and then we went inside.
The girls loved getting to explore!
Adalyn picked up a baby that she wanted (we left her Bitty Baby at home) and picked out a new outfit and panties for her doll.
The girls loved exploring the Lea area.
And Megan would put her dolls down in the display areas and play.
She found the Truly Me dolls, and put hers with them.
And then put her in a teepee.
Gretchen decided to buy a new outfit for her doll- and chose a basketball outfit, but Megan wanted her dolls ears pierced.
So we took her upstairs to where they pierce the dolls ears.
It took just a minute or two, and she picked out the earrings for her doll to where.
She loved it! We asked her if she was ready to get her ears pierced to and she was very adamant that she did NOT want her own ears pierced. She's determined to not pierce them until she is an adult and even then she's not so sure.
New doll earrings!
We headed in to the Galleria afterwards and went to watch the ice skaters. I promised the girls that we would go the next time we are in Dallas. We'll obviously have to remember to pack pants and socks!
We made it back to Frisco before DJ's uncle came home from work and the girls played, DJ watched t.v., and I took a nap!
And then we went out for dinner at Blue Mesa! It was a fabulous last meal with DJ's uncle and we all splurged and had dessert!
Our day was busy and packed full of so much fun!
