New House: Living Room

In these pictures, are orange and brown walls aver very noticeable! Thankfully, you can't notice the black rope that's in the corners as well. Seriously, I don't know what these people were thinking, but because we're renting, and we only plan on being here for 1 year, it's not worth our time, energy, or money to repaint these crazed walls. So, I learn to appreciate color while we're here. The house was designed with a built in t.v. space above the mantle. But, do you see our flat screen? The hole in the wall for the mantle was too small, so we set the t.v. on it's stand in the corner. The mirror is conveniently placed to cover the hole, and i'm keeping the mantle decorations simple! I still need to get a frame for MC's newborn photo, but I don't plan to add much more up there.

The rug that's in the living room, use to be in our kitchen, but I wanted it in the living room, since it's larger, and we need to soften up the hardwood floors- and because we're in this room all the time- the kids need something soft to play on!

I placed DJ's leather chair and a smaller chair in the corner to make a conversation area. Plus, his chair is right in line of sight of the t.v. and you know every man appreciates that!

This is the view from the fire place to the front door. On the right of that brown wall is our entry way, and to the left is the kitchen. The leather ottoman was purchased last fall from TJ Max (yes, I love that store), and it opens up, so it's great for toy storage!

Decorating tip: find a place to hide toys in your living room!
