It's been over a month since I've posted a Girl Mom post, and today, I'm back in the swing! This girl mom has taken the month of July off to enjoy vacations and spending time with my three girls, but now that August has hit, we have got to get back to school ready! Today, I'm going to share with you a few of my girl mom back to school traditions and share a few new ideas for you!

Gretchen will be in 1st grade this year, and we definitely plan on keeping a few of our back to school traditions alive and add in a few more!
I take pictures of the girls every year on their first day of school. For pre-k, I found a printable from Pinterest.
And for kindergarten, I purchased a small chalkboard and just wrote her grade level in chalk.
I also drew on our wooden fence a big letter "K" and had her photo taken there! I'm not sure we'll do this again, because it took almost the entire school year for the sidewalk chalk to come off the fence, but it was a super fun idea at the time! I drew this the night before that way I wasn't rushed the next morning trying to get this photo!
She had an appliqué shirt for preschool, but for her first day of kindergarten, we opted for a smocked tunic and shorts set. She has a dress to wear on the first day of 1st grade, but she'll be wearing her "1st Grade Diva" shirt on the 2nd day, just like she did last year.
Last year, Gretchen ate "Lucky Charms" cereal for breakfast, and we'll probably continue that tradition this year! For some reason, she's convinced that if she eats Lucky Charms, then she'll have a lucky day!
I bought her a chunky necklace for her first day of kindergarten, and she wore it every day for the first several weeks. She told me that it helped her to remind her of me, so I bought her a necklace for the first day of this school year too.
We are always rushed on the first day of school since I'm a working mama, (& if you ask my hubby, I'm late everywhere we go!) so I need traditions that will save us time!
I think it will be fun to have a back to school dinner the night before school starts and give her her necklace! I also want us to fill out this printable together and she can tell me all of the exciting things she's looking forward to!
I think this back to school countdown craft would be adorable to make this week with the girls!
