Christmas Day

We're a few days in to January, but because I took a blogging break, I'm need to play catch up. So, bare with me over the next few days, m'kay?

If you need a refresher, you can check back on our Christmas Eve here, and our North Pole breakfast here, and any other Christmas break fun, we've had here.

Now that you're all caught up, let's look back at our Christmas day!
On Christmas Eve, all the presents were wrapped and under the tree. Megan and Adalyn both brought down the little trees they had in their bedroom, and wanted Santa to place their gifts under their trees!

This year, each of the girls received three Santa presents, and two gifts from DJ and myself. We are really trying to scale back on Christmas, because there's just not anything that they need. I'm so tired of stuff, but, all of the gifts were presents the girls had asked for.
We even caught Santa in front of our tree!!! The girls got a kick out of it the next day!
The girls woke up super early on Christmas morning. I think they were up by 6, but I told them to head back upstairs and watch a movie. I think, I ended up getting another 45 minutes of sleep.

The girls immediately found their new house shoes and tried them on.
The girls have been asking for slippers for weeks, and were so excited to get them!
Gretchen received a Project MC2 science kit for Christmas. She's obsessed with the show.
And the little girls both received Hatchimals, and to our surprise, they both had twins!
We bought Gretchen a spa soap set! She absolutely loves science and cooking, so this was perfect! She begged me all of Christmas day to let her make soaps, and I tried to convince her to wait until we had a snow day or a weekend from school, but I gave in and she made a few the day after Christmas.
Megan is in love with anything Descendents. She dressed as Mal for Halloween, so for Christmas she received both of the Descendents movie and a Mal doll.
And Adalyn received an Anna doll.
We surprised Gretchen with a laptop and she was so excited!!!! She's beginning to have research projects at school, so now I won't have to share mine :) She really wanted a Nintendo Switch, but once she opened her laptop, she was thrilled!
Last Spring, Gretchen wrote a poem about the moon. She wanted to enter it in to a poetry competition, and I happened to find one online. Her poem didn't win, but it was published and we surprised her with her published poem!
And Adalyn finally received her very own sleeping bag! She's had to share her sisters, and it was time for her own!
After all of the presents were unwrapped, we began to open their toys. It was so fun to watch the Hatchimals break open!
Megan and Adalyn both received LOL dolls.
And Adalyn received a new ballet baby. She received her very first ballet baby at Christmas when she was just 6 months old, and while we hadn't planned on getting her another (she's probably had at least 6), her most recent one was looking horrible, and needed to be retired. She cracked me up, because she immediately "assumed the position." One day, we'll have to let her ballet baby go, but today is not that day.
The rest of the day was spent playing with toys. Both of the little girls received Baby Alive's
They didn't get out of their pj's all day, and later that evening DJ smoked a ham. I made side dishes and baked an apple pie, and then DJ decided to take the big girls to see Star Wars which left Adalyn and I time alone to snuggle and watch a movie.

It was the perfect little Christmas day.
