Hey, hey Friday! The girls and I are heading out for our last weekend get away! Did someone say Girls Trip?! We're meeting my mom, sister-in-law, and niece in Branson for some fun at Silver Dollar City, and pool time, and maybe a little shopping too!
First up, football camp!
This year, TU hosted a kids football camp. Gretchen was old enough to attend and we thought she'd have fun. Plus, we want her to know as much about the game as possible.... you know, she'll make a good wife someday.... but more importantly, since we're around the game so much, she needs to know the ins and outs.
Gretchen with our head coach, Coach Montgomery.... and her trying on a player's jersey. She has a lot of growing to do to catch up with our players!
DJ said she did great at camp! They had stations where she learned about each position, ran some drills, and more. DJ said she only skipped one station, because she was hot and taking a break. She was the only girl out on the field and rocked it! Apparently, she scarfed down lunch, and got back on the field for some scrimmages.
The teams were divided in to "shirts vs. skins" and DJ made sure that Gretchen's team was always the shirts!
After scrimmages, all of the kids (and coaches) went to the TU fountains and played! Home girl was worn out when she got home that afternoon!
The little girls are loving sprinkler time!
Gee bought Megan and Addy bathing suits for next year, but they fit pretty well this year! We've had trouble finding a suit that actually fits Adalyn. She needs a 2 or 3T top, but only about a 18 month bottom, and could probably benefit from a 12 month! So, all of her bottoms have fallen off of her this year. I had to pull out a bathing suit from last year, and I've had to sew up the bottoms of a few of her two pieces just so they won't fall down.
Addy wanted her picture taken in her favorite Sunday morning spot.
And Gretchen begged for us to bake cookies using a recipe from her American Girl cookbook.
The girls decorated three cookies each, and then I took over the rest of the decorating. Addy insisted that we make a cookie for her Gee, and her PaPaw, and her Aunt Tiffany.
And I made each of the girls a cookie too.
We finally finished the summer reading program! We're always gung-ho at the beginning of summer, but once we start traveling, our trips to the library get further apart, and we don't do as much reading. We spent last week reading as much as possible, so we could finish our reading list, and then made our final library trip this week. The girls received medals, blow up bats, and a coupon book.
In years past, we never use the coupon books! But, this year, I'm determined to have a coupon day before we go back to school. There are coupons for the aquarium, zoo, kids meals, cookies, and doughnuts. So, we're going to spend a day doing as much as possible. (But, we're saving the zoo for this fall!)
Gretchen's 2nd grade teacher invited all of her students out for fro-yo this week. I didn't tell Gretchen that we were going, because I didn't want her bugging me about when it was and who would be there. So when we arrived at Cherry Berry she wasn't too surprised to run in to one friend, and then we walked inside, and she saw more and more of her friends from school. Her best friend was there too, and the girls played and chased and ran around. I'm so sad that her teacher is leaving our school building this year. She accepted a position for an assistant principal job, and while I know that she will be a fabulous assistant principal, we will miss her dearly!
So, that's it for Friday Favorites!!!
I hope you have a great weekend!
