Our homecoming game is one of my favorite football games of the season! I love that alumni come back and visit their college, and everyone is happy to see each other. I love that students and teachers take pride in their university and show their support! It's just a fun time!
Last week was homecoming for the university! We have never gotten in to the spirit before, because the girls have been too little, or because we have after school activities. So, apart from the game, we haven't been able to participate much else! But this year was different! The girls are finally old enough to really enjoy and participate in other activities!
Last week, we visited the painted streets in front of the stadium, and I volunteered at a night market, and then Friday night, we took the girls to the homecoming bonfire! DJ's dad and stepmom were also in town, which made it an extra fun weekend!
The family waiting on DJ to arrive and the bonfire to begin.
Meggie was super afraid that the bonfire was going to be loud! She hates loud noises!
And Gretchen was full of a crazy-amount of energy!
The bonfire is huge! Thursday night, while I was at the night market, we were able to watch the students build it with pallets and lumber.
There were also fireworks!
The football team came and DJ met us there.
It ended up getting so hot,t hat we had to back up even further away!
Addy Pearl was all snuggles with Pops!
My big girl and me!
After the bonfire, we headed home. Adalyn fell asleep in the car, so it was straight to bed for everyone!
Saturday morning, DJ left for the team hotel, and I made pancakes for everyone, and then we got ready for the football game.
We had to walk over to pick up tickets at will call and we found the Caniacs tent. They offered to paint the girls faces for the game!

All of the girls chose to have dots painted and a TU symbol.
And then they posed for pictures with some props!
I love these little Hurricane fans!
We walked over to the tailgate area and the girls played in the bounce houses before heading in to the game. We always stop by DJ's office first to say hello and wish him luck. And then we made our way in to the stands. We typically have a family suite for the coaches wives & families, but since it was homecoming, it was the one game that we didn't have it. My girls are not use to sitting outside. They would much rather be inside where they can run and play. Thankfully, they did great during the game, and were able to sit and play with the other coaches kids.
Cheering our favorite team on to the W!
We went inside for a bathroom break in the 3rd quarter and found Captain Cane! We actually found him inside with his head off, and the girls thought it was hilarious! Adalyn was a bit confused though! When he saw the girls, he quickly put his head back on and dashed outside! We followed him and got a picture!
And then it was time for more cheering!
It was great having the whole family there!
And bringing home our 5th win for the season was pretty special too!
