Cotton Bowl 2025

It's been a long time, maybe I'll have some time to catch up in over a year of blog posts. I don't really write this blog for me anymore, but for our daughters and generations to come, and maybe a spare person who remembers that it still exists.

Football season of 2024 was a good one- Texas was in the CFB playoffs and in January we headed to the Cotton Bowl to play Ohio State. But, I had already had time off work, and planned to go up closer to the game, and Gretchen had an award ceremony at school that she didn't want to miss. Top that off with a snow storm and we weren't even sure we'd be able to make it. DJ and the team left a day ahead of schedule to beat the storm.
One of the events the Cotton Bowl had for families was a hat making bar, and since we weren't there- DJ facetimed us and got all of us hats made.
The girls had their initials branded on to the back of their hats.

Friday morning was game day. We started off the day with Gretchen's award ceremony at school.
They served breakfast tacos
and she got her award.

A quick picture and we were back home to pick up the other girls.
Megan had her hair in heatless curls and was ready to go.
We made it in time to freshen up, take some pictures, and catch the bus to the game.

This one wasn't feeling great, but she ended up rallying and made it.
A quick selfie before leaving.

We were treated to a pregame party area that was field level before the game- look at these treats!!!

We managed to have time for a quick family photo before kick off- which was a miracle because DJ was scrambling to fix something on the sidelines.

Our Minister of Culture...

Pete's dog.

We made it to our seats!

Let the game begin!!!

The goodyear blimp flying around the stadium.

Tears from this girl, because she was cheering hard for our boys, but the game was a tough one.
And Gretchen's dance teacher was there performing with the Kilgore Rangerettes so it was exciting to see her!!
