An Afternoon of Fun!

Last Thursday, I declared our afternoon a day of fun! You see, we aren't really morning people at my house! The girls get up early, but I like to relax and enjoy time around the house, get things picked up, start laundry, and make the beds…. I also like to make sure that Adalyn gets her naps in! So, after all of that was done on Thursday, and the girls and I made banana bread muffins, we headed out for some fun!

I knew that Meggie would fall asleep in the car, and would be ready for some adventures when she woke up! We actually had to take the muffins over to a friends house, and on our way, Gretchen asked if we could go to the park. I started thinking about which park we would go to, and I knew that DJ would be working late again, so we decided to stay in Bixby and head over to a park I had heard about, but had never been able to take the girls to.

The park had this massive climbing structure with three slides. 

And the girls loved playing together!

They crawled,

and climbed.

Gretchen wanted to pretend like she was in jail!

The park also has a a splash pad, but we didn't have our swimsuits. I let the girls run through when they were getting too hot, but told them that they couldn't get soaked.

Meggie loved being sprayed by the water!

Gretchen climbed on a "rock."

And then we all swung in the swings.

Adalyn was hanging out in the ergo, and I sat down to swing with her. She laughed and laughed! (Even though it looks like she's sleeping!)

The park also had a swing for handicap children, and I thought that was pretty neat, and so did my girls!

After the park we went to Chick-Fil-A for dinner!

We ran into a girl who did some babysitting for us, and enjoyed catching up with her! The girls played in the play structure and then I bribed them out for ice cream!

Addy sucked her thumb while her big sisters ate their ice cream.

I looked over and just loved sweet Meggie licking her ice cream cone! I don't think we've actually let her have ice cream in a cone before. She really had no idea how to eat the cone part, but she loved licking out the ice cream.

When we got home our neighbors were outside so I let the girls play for another 45 minutes and then we went in for baths and bed!

We had such a fun afternoon! It was total spontaneous, and the perfect little pick me up for a summer afternoon!

I am determined to make this day 100% happy! I was up at 5 this morning, and just could not go back to sleep! I got up, did some reading, and I'm determined to make this day productive and spent with my honey pie's! 

And, to start off the day on a happy note, here are a few happy things from this past week!

June 19th-Meggie and I had the best day running errands! Thankful for the "I love life" personality that this girl has!

 Meggie, Addy and I went shopping and ran errands while Gretchen was at basketball camp. Meggie found this boat at the shoe store, and I let her ride. She loved it and had so much fun! She was really excited about the tiger! (She had no idea it was Tigger.)

June 20th- The look of a little girl who is missing her boyfriend! We had a great evening with friends!

I last minute decided to have two families over for a little cook out and swimming! I'm so thankful for the friends we've made in Tulsa!

June 21-  Meggie is finally a little fish!

It took DJ and I both going to the pool in order to finally get her brave enough to "swim" on her own! It's making my solo pool days with the three girls much easier!

June 22- Late night shopping at Target

Yes, she is wearing an apron.

We spent 4 hours cleaning and organizing her room after church on Sunday, and we went out to pick up a few necessities!

June 23- Off to the library!

Yes, the girls are matching, and yes, this is the best picture I was able to get!

We waited to leave mid-morning once I thought the rain had stopped, but after we left the library, and headed to Hobby Lobby, it started pouring! So, we got caught in the rain, made the best of our trip, and high-tailed it to Sonic for lunch before we headed home!

June 24- The Welte girls made a redneck water slide!

Our original plans were to go to the splash pad, but Adalyn was fussy and desperately needed her morning nap, and then we had a roof guy coming at 2, so we played in the backyard instead. 

June 25- Addy Pearl is ready for another pool day!

I'll be taking the rest of today to enjoy my honey pie's! We'll be making banana bread muffins, finishing up an order, painting our nails, and enjoying each other!

WIWW: A Few Summer Styles!

I've saved up pictures over the last few weeks to show y'all What I've Worn! 

My summer style is typically a swimsuit/cover-up, pajamas, or once or twice a week i'll actually get dressed! It's seriously laid back at our house in the summer time!

I bought this t-shirt dress from Target a few weeks ago. It is so comfy and soft and perfect for summer! I can dress it up or dress it down, or wear it as a cover up.

I'm thinking I can pair it with leggings and a sweater for winter and totally pull it off!

We do a lot of traveling in the summer, and this is a typical travel outfit! DJ always freezes me out, so I'm likely to wear long sleeves and yoga capri's! I also wear things like this around the house. 

I picked up this maxi dress at New York & Company, and it's perfect for summer! I wore it a few weeks ago to a wedding shower with a denim jacket, or I can keep it casual with no jacket, plus it's perfect for a summer date night!

I thought i'd show off my new hair cut too! It'll never look like this if I fix it on my own!

And, I wore this on a day when we ran errands. The t-shirt is from GAP, and I have an Undercover Mama brown tank on underneath (their tanks are great for nursing mom's, but they're perfect for layering!) I'm also wearing jeans from GAP and sandals from Target. This was a super easy outfit for running around and hauling the girls everywhere!

Also, I just purchased some shorts from J. Crew Factory and a few t-shirts, and I was over the moon excited to see that they took paypal! So, if you need an excuse to shop online, there it is! I love the ease of paypal, and honestly, I may be too lazy to get up and get my debit card while I'm shopping online, it's just easier to go through paypal and shop without having to get up!

Girl Mom~ Choosing Extracurricular Activities

Choosing extracurricular activities for your honey pie's can be so challenging!

Growing up, I took dance, played softball once, and then was on the dance team in high school and that was it!

I think as parents now, we are so challenged and have a desire to put our children into as many extracurricular activities as possible!

I have a little girl in speech who takes dance, gymnastics, cheerleading, and plays soccer! She has an activity every night of the week.

When is enough enough?

DJ and I decided that our girls would participate in one activity at a time. We didn't want to be spending every evening after work driving from one activity to the next. Plus, with three girls, our pocket books can't afford more than one at a time!

Gretchen started dance when she was 3 1/2 years old.

She took a 2 week course in the summer and then continued in the fall/spring.

The next year, she took gymnastics.

At the end of gymnastics, she started soccer. So we did overlap a few weeks!

After soccer, she had swim lessons.

Once I had Adalyn last July, I decided that we would take a break from extra-curricular's at least until football season was over, and I was adjusted to being a mom of three.

I did let her participate in a few weeks of children's choir at church, because she loves to sing, and it was a free activity.

In March, we decided to sign both Gretchen and Megan up for soccer.

Last week was our last session of soccer!

Gretchen's friend took in her class too!

I have always wanted my girls to participate in "girly" extracurricular activities. I'm sure that DJ has a harder time with this, because he wants our girls to be involved in sports.

I am not a "sporty" girl.

I mentioned above, I played softball when I was younger. I played for one spring, and I hated every minute of it!

We let the girls choose their own activities.

I want them to learn whatever sports they choose!

Both girls had tons of fun at soccer!

I think it helped that they had friends in their classes! (Megan was being too stubborn to get in the picture!)

Now that soccer is over, we are trying to decide what the girls will participate in this fall, while still keeping with our "one activity per girl" rule. 

DJ did sign up Gretchen for basketball camp at TU, and she did that last week!

Megan really wanted to go too!

I would love to sign the girls up for dance this fall. They've played sports, and now I want them back in something "girly". Plus, I'm dying to see Meggie in a tutu!

Gretchen has mentioned that she wants to participate in children's choir again. I'll probably let her, as long as she cooperates when it's time to go. She really loves performing, and children's choir is a Christ-centered free activity!

But ultimately, I'll let my honey pie's make the decision as to what they'd like to do in the fall!

How do you choose extracurricular activities for your girls? Are their activities more "sporty" or more "girly"?

A Few Redecorating Touches

I tend to get a little stir crazy when I'm home over the summer! That leads to the inevitable redecorating that always occurs. 

I re-decorated my mantle and had a huge golf picture hanging, along with some other decorations, and the very next day, the picture and all of the decorations crashed to the floor! 

So, I had to re-re-decorate!

I ended up with the above.

I still want a picture to hang, but I don't have anything laying around, and I'm thinking that I'm going to order a canvas from our recent family pictures to hang.

I  also hung a few new pictures above the couch.

The golf picture that was once hanging above the fire place, was originally over the couch. Now it's in the trash.

I moved a the flower sconce over, hung the cross, and added newly framed pictures of the girls. 

My entry way got a make over too.

I moved the antique secretary to the other side of the entry.

A family portrait is hanging above, as well as two wall sconces.

Most of the decorations on the secretary were originally on the fire place, and my entry table was decorated with a lot of white pieces. 

I'm loving the darker wood tones in the entry!

I use a wreath hanger to hold all of our bags in the entry!

I'm currently working on our master bedroom and getting a few pictures moved around in there!

HPA~ Bows & More!

Now that summer is here, and I'm home more, I've been busy working and getting new products made and working on orders! 

I wanted to share a few recent products today!
