Friday Favorites

Happy Friday friends!!! Today is going to be exciting here in our house! I'm frantically packing and straightening the house, because we're heading to the Big 12 Championship game this weekend! The girls are getting checked out of school, and we're going to have so much fun! 

I mean, this is really all we want this weekend.

This past weekend, we explored Austin and had a fun day! We started off with a parade, explored the capital and pretended to be tourists in our new town. You can head here to read about our day ;) Exploring our town is always a favorite; especially since we're new here! 

One of my favorite diffuser blends this week has been Christmas Spirit and Northern Lights Black Spruce..... both, which were free from my favorite oily company. 

Monday night, Adalyn helped me cook dinner. She was so excited to help and I love having the kids in the kitchen with me. We made panko crusted chicken strips. Yum!

DJ came home early on Monday and brought us a box of Tiff's Treats. There pretty famous here in Austin, and the girls were excited to have a treat!

Wednesday afternoon, we headed to Costco, and took full advantage of the samples. The girls tried these chocolate covered mangoes, and they all agreed that they were so good, so I bought us a bag to bring home. 

Megan has started back to gymnastics, and she's having so much fun. She's dying to nail her back handspring and eventually wants to compete on team. 

We dropped Megan off at gymnastics and headed to Target. Does anyone else's kids have to jump and climb on the red balls outside the store? 

Alright, I'm off to get all the things done so we can head north! We're planning on heading to a cattle drive and having some good 'ol Texas fun, so feel free to follow along on Instagram! 

Girl Style: Old Navy

Old Navy has been killing it in the kids department lately. I've had to stock up for the girls since we moved to Austin, because cooler temperatures arrived here sooner than I thought they would. Just a few weeks after moving, it dipped down in to the 50s, but the weather here is up and down more than I had imagined, so I have to make sure the girls have plenty of layers and options. One day it's in the low 30s when we wake up and head off to school, 70 by the end of the day, and close to 80 on the weekends. 

Anyway, enough about the weather, let's chat about some cute clothing finds :)

This little pink sweater is so soft and cozy. I love the hood, and wish it came in my size! Ha! It also comes in grey. We pair it with jeggings, so it's perfect on a colder day. 

This little orange top has the cutest llama, and it's the perfect color for a Texas football game :) 

We paired this top with a pair of floral leggings. 

I can't find this particular pair online, but Old Navy has several options.

This green ruffle top pairs great with these feathered leggings. 

My mom picked up this ruffle trim top for Gretchen, and we paired it with these leggings.  The top would also be super cute mix and matched with these leggings. 

This baseball tunic is adorable and super soft!

I picked up these leggings for Megan as well ;)

I have two of their Lux tees and they are seriously the softest shirts ever! I'm going to grab a few more soon, because they come in several color options.

A Parade in ATX

We had the best little weekend, although we were sad to have to head back to school this week. Anyone else having a hard time getting back in to the swing of life?

Saturday morning, I woke up and head breakfast with these two cuties. 

DJ headed to work early and my mother in law and I surprised the girls with a trip to downtown Austin to watch the Chuy's parade. 

There were big balloons....

and storm troopers....

and overly decorated cars and floats.....

and more big balloons. 

The girls had fun waving and seeing everything in the parade. 

There was a lull in the middle of the parade, because this parade was a toy collection parade. 

People brought new toys, and then the parade stopped, so the toys could be collected in trucks. It was super sweet, and even though we didn't have time to get a toy before hand, we'll make sure we grab a few next year ;) 

We snapped a quick photo while we were waiting for the parade to begin again.

I mean, I guess it was like half time in a football game ;) 

We saw Santa on the Chuy's float.

and then we snuck out and headed back to the car so we could meet DJ for lunch. 

We went to a pizza place downtown that we had tried a few month ago. 

The girls love it because they get dough to play with, there's a fun playground outside, and you can order pizza by the slice, so everyone gets what they want. 

We took DJ back to work, and then went to the state capitol to explore. 

We thought we would show Nana around Austin, but honestly, we wanted to get out and explore too! 

The capitol building was gorgeous on the inside. 

We took a quick photo in the rotunda, but all of the girls were pulling on each other, so this was the best we could do. 

And then we made our way upstairs. Adalyn found a star on the floor and asked me to take her photo on the star. 

Gretchen became our little tour guide. 

and then we found this water fountain outside. I'm not 100% sure you can drink out of it, but the girls did. 

We explored the grounds a little bit, before heading off to find.

The girls kept begging and begging me to tell them where we were going next, so I gave them two clues. A Building and Austin. 

Basically, it's a fun post card photo op spot on the side of the building. 

Only one kid was impressed, but they all agreed to take pictures. 

But once we got back in the car, the girls told me that this stop was the "worst surprise ever."

Sometimes kids act like little..... well... you know. So, momma had to call it a day, and we headed home. 

We spent the rest of Saturday watching football :)

A Trip To Kansas

Thanksgiving day, I said goodbye to our sweet girls, and headed to Kansas with DJ and the Texas football team. 

Each year, there's a wives trip, and ours happened to be the weekend we moved to Texas, which meant, I wasn't able to go. Thankfully, some room opened up for the Kansas game, and since DJ's mom was already in town, she kept the girls while DJ and I went away for the night. 

We were on the bus and ready to board the plane. 

We arrived in Kansas and I face timed the girls before heading downstairs to our dinner. 

Since it was Thanksgiving night, everything was closed, and we ate at the hotel. 

Team meetings wrapped up and DJ and sat in the hotel room for a few hours, before heading downstairs to grab a drink and close up the meeting rooms. 

Friday morning, we were up early because kick off was at 11.

I grabbed a quick breakfast.... thankfully, I thought ahead and packed a few things....

and put on a few layers to stay warm. 

Because we travel with the team, we arrive at the stadium two hours before kick off. The other wives and I sat on the bus until it was time to go in. Our seats were right in the 1st row in the endzone, so we had an upclose view of the team taking the field.

I snapped this photo coming down from one of my concession stand visits. 

Sadly, the stadium was pretty empty... and the first three quarters were kind of boring... and it was in the 50s and cloudy, so it was cold! 

The 4th quarter was a nail biter, because Kansas came back and scored 17 points, and then had three onside kicks. Thankfully, we recovered the last one, and held on to the lead. 

With this win, we're headed to the Big 12 Conference Championship game in Dallas next weekend! 

We celebrated after the game before getting back on the bus and flying home to Austin.
