What's Up Wednesday: August Edition

Hey, hey, Wednesday! You're like my 2nd favorite day of the week, because this means that we're on the downhill slide of things. Today, I'm linking up with Mel, Sheaffer, and Shay for What's Up Wednesday! Each month, we all link up and answer a series a questions.
1. What We're Eating This Week.....
Monday- Nachos
Tuesday- Leftovers
Wednesday- We'll probably grab something to eat after Gretchen's theater class
Thursday- Spaghetti
Friday- Pizza night

2. What I'm reminiscing about.....
Lazy summer days!

Now we are back in school and our schedule is nuts! Our school district pushed our start time back by 15 minutes, and I'm loving the extra time in the morning, but the evenings are hectic and crazy.

3. What I'm Loving.......
Lots of dresses right now! I have my eye on this one from Anthropologie.  It's too hot to wear pants to work, but I love throwing on a dress and i'm able to keep it work appropriate, and still not sweat to death during recess duty! Last week, I shared lots of options from Anthro in my Wardrobe Wednesday post.
I'm also loving that Young Living is giving a free Cedarwood essential oil with every Premium Starter Kit purchase during the month of August! Which means that today is your last day to grab your kit and this oil for free!

Cedarwood is amazing for your skin and hair, plus it helps you sleep like a baby!
I'm also loving that fall is right around the corner. Before you know it, pumpkins will be everywhere! You can check out my Fall Favorites here!

4. What We've Been Up To.....
DJ is in full swing of football. It's game day on Saturday, so he's putting in his time at the office and getting ready for our home opener! I am back to work, and this week, we've been at the Early Childhood Centers in our district working on speech/language screens for all of the kids. And y'all- 4 year olds are adorable!!!! Gretchen and Megan are back to school, and they're adjusting so well to this school year! Addy's loving preschool and her teacher! She spends lots of time doing arts and crafts and playing outside!

5. What I'm Dreading.......
Hmmm, is it fair to say that I'm dreading daylight savings time and winter? I know it's still a few weeks away, but it gets dark SO early, and I'm not looking forward to the cold days.

6. What I'm Working On....
I've been working on my fitness...... with the school year back in full swing, I'm still trying to get in some runs and workouts. Thankfully, DJ is super good about letting me run out the door right after he walks in, so I can get a run in. This is probably one reason why I'm dreading daylight savings time. I have no idea how I'm going to get evening runs in when it's dark at 5 pm.

7. What I'm Excited About....
Football season of course!!!

Our home opener is this weekend, and we take on San Jose State. I'm looking forward to football and watching our team play!

8. What I'm Watching/Reading:
I have a stack of books on my nightstand, and I'm an trying so hard to get through them, but I'm not being very successful right now!
I am loving For the Love, but I haven't gotten all the way through it.
I'm 3 seasons in to Orange is the New Black, and I'm not quite sure what I'll do when it's over on Netflix. The writing and story line is so good.

9. What I'm Listening To.....
At the moment- I'm listening to whatever DJ is watching on t.v.

10. What I'm Wearing....
Currently, work out clothes. We had gymnastics tonight and I was able to run while Megan was in her class. At work, it's lots of dresses.

11. What I'm Doing This Weekend....
Cheering on our boys!

12. What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month....
Hmmm..... I think September is going to be lots of getting back in to our groove. We'll have weekends of football, and weekends of DJ being away, and we'll be busy with after school activities. Right now, we don't have big plans for September.

13. What Else Is New.....
Have I mentioned that Addy isn't sucking her thumb anymore!!!! That was huge for us! I really didn't want to force her to quit, and I had planned to let her grow out of it and stop whenever she felt that she needed to. But, our dentist recommended that we work on getting her to stop sucking her thumb. So, I went to Walgreens and purchased Thum and it did not work at all. Like it would work for a bit, and then wear off, and we were just taking it slow. Then, I had a friend recommend Mavala, and I ended up purchasing a bottle from Amazon. Once it came in, I knew that it was a lot stronger than the Thum product we had bought from Walgreens, and within 2 days, she was done. She hasn't looked back. It was seriously the easiest thing ever. I mean, I'm crazy sad that I don't have a thumb sucking-ballet baby loving 3 year old anymore, but I'm also going to be excited when those orthodontist bills aren't as high!

14. What's Your Favorite Summer to Fall Transition Pieces in your Wardrobe.....
So, right now, I'm all about a dress! I think you've gathered that by now! It's still to warm for pants, and I love that I can throw on a dress with either short sleeves or long, add some sandals, a little jewelry, and I'm put together enough for work, but I still feel comfortable. I was never a dress person, but now, I love them!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Weekend Wrap Up: Pool & Ice Cream Cupcakes

This weekend was just what the girls and I needed. We were able to soak up some more of summer, before we officially say good-bye to it in just a few days.
Addy's teacher is still posting lots of pictures of her and her classmates throughout the day! I'm loving these little sneaks in to her day! I decided that I would save the pictures to my phone, and upload them on to my Shutterfly app, so I can easily make her a picture of her preschool 3 year old year. I'm also going to take pictures of her art work and upload them to shutterfly as well. This way, I don't have to keep everything, but she'll still be able to look back and see what she made when she was 3.
Thursday night called for DIY pizzas. Megan and Addy both helped me while Gretchen did her homework! The girls were starving and ended up eating all of the mini pizza's.
Later that evening, I hosted an essential oils class on facebook. I diffused some oils, poured myself a glass of wine, and got to work in the office, while DJ tucked the girls in to bed.
Friday afternoon, the girls and I had to go to the grocery store. We went to a local neighborhood Wal-Mart, because I knew it would be a quick in and out, and they had fruit available for kids. Each of the girls picked a banana, but Addy saved hers until we got in the car and headed home.
We drove past the local high school, and I rolled down the windows so we could hear the band play. Our local high school band performs on a national level, and I think they're marching in the Rose Parade this year. They are super good.
The girls played outside Friday night while I cooked dinner.

And then we called it an early night, got in our pj's, and settled in to watch a movie before DJ came home.
Snuggles with wiggly girl!
Saturday, I did some lunch prep for the school week! All of our fruits and veggies get washed with this fruit & veggie soak from Young Living!
And Addy insisted on doing some gymnastics over my leg.
Around 11, the girls and I headed to the pool. I was afraid that it would be too cool- the high was in the 80s, so we tried to wait until later in the morning to go- but it was so hot once we got there! However, the water was freezing! Being from the south, I enjoy "bath temperature" pool water, and it has not been that warm this summer. Gretchen decided she'd skip out on swimming, and opted to read and get some sun instead.
But not this girl- she was ready to swim!
Eventually, Gretchen did get in the water, and we had a picnic lunch, and then I had two girls laying out with me.
And one enjoying some pool time.
And then Gretchen did this, and I died at how teenager-ish she's becoming.

DJ only worked a few hours on Saturday, so he cut the grass once he made it home and the girls played outside. He grilled dinner, and after baths, I went on a run.
After my run, I was being held hostage outside of the house. You guys, I cannot stomach frogs or toads. I am literally terrified of them. I mean, they jump. AT YOU.
We were all able to make it to church Sunday morning, and we listened to Bob Goff. He is hilarious, and I cannot wait to order his book. DJ left straight for football, and the girls asked to play outside after church.
The girls are loving being able to play outside after church.
And, these pictures may replace our typical Sunday morning pictures.......
Once we made it home, it was lunch time and nap time. And you guys, this girl isn't sucking her thumb anymore!!!!! And she's not needing her ballet baby either!
While Addy was sleeping, Megan was circling things she wants for Christmas out of the American Girl catalog. She is already making her Christmas list, and is insisting on a Baby Alive, and anything American Girl.
Gretchen asked if we could bake something, so we pulled out our last Foodstirs box, and made ice cream cupcakes. Foodstirs is a subscription box program (but I think you can just order 1 or 2 boxes) and everything is organic and non-GMO. It's geared toward kids, and Gretchen loves it!
PS: our cupcakes didn't turn out as pretty as the ones from Foodstirs, but my guess is that an 8 year old isn't making theirs!

Sunday evening, we had dinner at football, and the girls were excited to see their dad and to watch the cheerleaders practice on the field!

And then bam, Monday hit us all over again!

This week is a three day week for the girls, and I'm praying that Thursday and Friday will go by fast since we won't have students! And I'm already looking forward to another weekend!

Let's Talk: Fall Favorites

Monday is here again, despite me trying to make it stay away. Sorry friends that it did not work! I'm linking up with Andrea and Erika, for "let's talk".... and today we're talking about our Fall Favorites!

First up on my list of Favorites.........
Fall colors, pumpkins, and decorating!!! I almost broke out our fall decor this weekend (and then I remembered that I try to hold off and I decorated for football instead!) But, I love being able to decorate for fall, and all of the warm colors. It's just so cozy.
Football is another favorite!!! Our first kick off is Saturday night, and I cannot wait to watch our team play! I love taking the girls to the games, and seeing their excitement over the band and cheerleaders, and of course, the football players. They love seeing the coaches on the field, and looking for their daddy and trying to figure out if he's in the press box or on the field during the games.
We also have our annual wives trip, and I love getting some time away with the ladies and getting to know them better.
Fall means layering! I love being able to put on a pair of jeans, some cute booties, and layer with my favorite tee's, and kimono's or wraps.
Fall scents in my diffuser, are another favorite. Thieves and Orange is one of the best combo's, plus it helps support our immune system!
Trips to the pumpkin patch with my girls.

And of course pumpkin carving is one of our favorite fall activities too!
DJ's mom always makes it to Tulsa for a game, and we're so excited to see her in October!
And of course we look forward to Trick-or-Treating! This year, I'm thinking that Addy will be a flamingo, and Gretchen wants to be Cinderella. Megan is leaning toward a Hula girl!

So Fall, can you please hurry up and arrive! We are totally ready for you!

Friday Favorites: Play Time

Hey, hey Friday!!! We have survived our first full week of school, and I'm looking forward to a laid-back, low key weekend! This is our last weekend before football games start, which means that the next 12 weeks will be devoted to college game day. So, I'm going to soak it up while I can!

I'm linking up today with Andrea, Erika, and Narci for Friday Favorites! If you're stopping by from the link up, then please leave a comment and say Hi!!! I'd love to "meet" you!!!

First up on my list of Favorites..... pictures from Addy's preschool teacher! Addy is loving school and has adjusted very well after taking the summer off. And you guys, how long does she look in this picture!!! Our girl may only be in the 9th %ile for weight, but she's 95% and height. #futuremodel #orvolleyballplayer #basketballmaybe #justgetascholarship
Gretchen is loving that she can practice her "b-ball" (yes, y'all, she seriously said "b-ball" the other day) while Megan has gymnastics. We got out of the car.... Megan was being a little slow, and Gretchen said, "Hurry up! I want to go play some b-ball." and I was all like "woah, where did this kid come from?"
She told me this week that she won in the game Knockout at p.e. and some boys even let her play soccer at recess!
Addy Pearl got in on some b-ball action too.
Kindergarten is so exhausting. Megan fell asleep on our way home. A sleepy little babe is my favorite!
Gretchen started a musical theater class this year, so while she was singing, acting, and dancing it up, the little girls and I headed to a nearby park! This was the highlight of the week, and Megan is already asking if we can go back.... every single day.
It was a favorite for sure!
And this week, I started a new series that will appear every other Wednesday!!! Wardrobe Wednesday!!! I'm super pumped about this series! I'll be sharing some of my favorite finds and featuring a different store each week!  This week, it was all about Anthropologie! Go here to check it out!
And y'all, I shared some super yummy muffin recipes earlier this week! These muffins have been a favorite for our back to school mornings! Go here to see my Lemon Blueberry Muffin recipe and my Peanut Butter-Banana- Chocolate Chip Muffin recipe!
Another favorite of mine...... Young Living and August's promotion! Anyone that grabs their Premium Starter Kit in August, will receive a Cedarwood oil for FREE! So, instead of getting 11 oils, in the PSK, you receive 12! And the Cedarwood is a full 15 mL!.
