Each year, as the new year approaches, I find myself reflecting on goals and resolutions that I want to focus on, in the coming year. This year, I really started to hone in on some difficult goals, but I wanted one word to time them all together.
Freedom.
So, in 2018, I'm going to be focusing on several goals, but all of them mean Freedom.
Financial Freedom. Debt will be paid off. Excessive money on things won't be spent. There isn't a household decoration that I need. There isn't an extra pair of shoes that I need, or a cute little holiday shirt (or three) that the girls need. Every single time I walk in to a store, I want to have a list. I want to be focused and intentional. When I feel the urge to impulse buy, I want to come back to my word of the year, "Freedom."
Freedom in Career. I have a goal to be able to be a stay at home mom. I know I've missed out on so much of the girls childhood, but I also know that I am stressed with working a full time job, working on my Young Living business, working out, and trying to manage everything. I have this tug in my heart, that I need to be home. I need to have time here to manage everything. So, I'm hopeful that career changes will be happening. Maybe not this year, but one day.
Freedom in Healthy Eating. Last year, I really focused on working out, and while I've had weeks that haven't been great, I've had other weeks that have been. I've given myself a lot of grace, knowing that I have done what I can do. But, I need to focus on eating, and being healthy in my food choices.
Freedom in Health. We're going to continue kicking toxins out of our home and being picky about the food we eat. We'll buy more and more organic, and refuse products that just aren't good for us. And, I want to help other women do the same for their families.
Freedom in Travel. We absolutely love to travel. I want to be able to take family vacations, small trips, little getaways. I'm realizing more and more, that it's about memories versus stuff and things.
Freedom in Faith. We need to be making Jesus more of a priority in our home. I need to be reading scripture and studying. I know I'll have to show myself grace here, but every so often, I need to be opening up the word more.
Freedom in Giving of Myself. I'm becoming better about saying 'no', and not volunteering for every little thing. I'm working on prioritizing my time, and not over extending myself. I am quick to say yes, and when the time comes, it's usually something I don't want to do or look forward to. So, I need to be better about thinking things through before volunteering.
Freedom is a big word. It's actually scary to think about how much that word can mean. But, every day, I want to wake up thinking about it. I want to pray over it. I want freedom for myself and my family.
Here's to Freedom in 2018.
