Trick or Treat

Happy Friday!!!!!

After this week, I could use a Friday. Who's with me?

Monday was full of all sorts of Halloween celebrations! We seriously celebrated our way throughout the entire day, and it was so much fun! 

Addy P. had costume day at her preschool, and I don't like the girls to wear their trick-or-treating costumes during the day.... on our way home from football dinner on Sunday night, we were brainstorming costume ideas, and Adalyn said she wanted to be a cat! 

So I made her some little kitty ears, added some whiskers, and sent her off to school. 

She loved being a little kitty! 

We had book character day at our school, so I dressed up as an overtired momma! I mean, isn't there a tired mom in every book?

Plus, I wanted to be comfy and cozy during such a crazy day! 

As DJ said, "you'll do anything to wear pajamas to work", and then I reminded him, I had on workout pants, and not pajama pants. 

G decided to be Cinderella, and Meggie went as "I Can Be a Gymnast" from a Barbie book. 

After a school-wide celebration, all of the kids had a book parade. 

While we were parading, Addy was at her own school celebrating. She made a little Halloween treat and then went to their "pumpkin patch".

After school, we drove through for dinner, and then went home to put on costumes. 

Our oldest, decided to be a pioneer for Halloween. 

And our middle decided to be coronation-Anna. 

She sure does know how to strike a pose! 

Addy P was a cheerleader! She had to show off her Tulsa cheer! 

And she insisted on wearing her "favorite shoes".... which happened to be Lambie house shoes. And, I let her, because was it really worth a battle?

And, I completed my over-exhausted mom look with a coffee mug, and bags under my eyes. 

Okay, so I seriously love these girls! And they thought the "mom" costume was hilarious!

And then they decided to show exactly why I might be so tired! 

And then DJ captured these photos, which will be in my heart forever. These sweet girls of mine. 

And off we went! 

Psst... he was a "dad" for Halloween. 

This house in our neighborhood was the best! 

They had a projector on their garage door and it looked like the people were trying to escape. 

And for some reason, the girls had to check out the creepers. 

There was even a ghost flying overhead! (He was actually hanging from a drone!)

Once we made it home, we dumped out their buckets, went through and sorted the candy, and then I let each girl have a treat! 

It was a great night!!!!!

Weekend Wrap Up: Pumpkin Carving & Field Trips

Happy Halloween!!!!! I'm pretty sure that with Halloween being on a Monday, that everyone's day is going to be out of sorts! Here's to all of the teachers that we are sending our kids off to! Seriously, I imagine that work today is going to be cray-cray. My kids were jumping off the walls last night because Halloween was less than 24 hours away, and they all get to wear costumes to school today! 

Thursday night, we carved pumpkins! It's our one night a week that DJ is home early. As soon as the girls and I made it home, I started dinner and then helped the girls dig out the pumpkin guts! I wasn't sure how much Adalyn would enjoy it, but all of the girls had the best time! There were seeds everywhere! After a quick bath, we let them watch DJ carve.

All of the girls draw their own jack-o-lantern face. We have been doing this for years! 

I remember as a child, that there were patterns to tape on to your pumpkin and then carve out something fancy. Do those still exist? We do not have fancy jack-o-lanterns at our house! 

Addy told DJ what shapes to draw, she just wanted a big letter "A", but he talked her in to a face instead! 

Oh, this girl. She is nothing short of a mess.

And, I shared my trick over on Instagram yesterday (follow me @ewelte_hpa), but just use a citrus oil or lemon essential oil to remove any drawings off your pumpkin! 

Once the jack-o-lanterns were made, we set them out on our front porch. The girls loved them! 

Friday was Megan's first field trip!!! She was so excited to be going to the pumpkin patch with her class! I was sad that I had way too much work to catch up on and I couldn't take the day and go with her. Thankfully, she has the best teacher who sent me some pictures!

While Megan was pumpkin patching, Addy had pajama day at school! 

And, she's learned how to pedal a trike! Yay!

Friday night rolled around, and Megan was just a mess. She was so tired from being at her field trip, that she threw lots of tantrums on the way home from school, and then fell asleep. We picked up pizza, and settled in to watch a Halloween movie. I wanted to watch Hocus Pocus with the girls... y'all I have NEVER seen that movie! But, it wasn't on t.v. and it wasn't on Netflix. So, we settled on the Adams Family! Gretchen enjoyed it, but definitely not the smartest parenting choice I've made. I think I forgot that the kids play with knives, and try to decapitate each other. I just reminded the girls that we never ever play with knives! 

Saturday was gorgeous! Gretchen played some minecraft while I cleaned house, and then I sent the girls outside to play and for lunch. And then we spent the evening watching Tulsa beat Memphis!!! We've won 6 games this year, so we are bowl eligible and still have 4 more games to finish out the season! The girls are super excited that we'll go to a bowl game this year! 

Sunday was a little nuts. DJ didn't make it home until 4:30 am, and I had to be at church for a meeting. So, I got the girls dressed, he woke up right as we were leaving, and we made it to church right on time. After church, we raced home for a snack, changed in to costumes, and headed to a birthday party! We were back home for an hour until we had to head to the football offices for dinner! We raced home for baths, and to finish cleaning up the upstairs, before we all crashed early!

October has just flown by! I knew that it would be super busy, and it was!

Friday Favorites: Dress Up Edition

Whew, Friday! It's nice to see you again! You guys, this week went by FAST! Like, seriously, zoomed on by. I still feel like maybe it should be Wednesday, because I still have a ton of stuff on my "to-do" list, but I'll happily take a Friday. 

Each Friday, I link up with Andrea, Erika, and Narci to share my Friday Favorites. I love being able to look back on our week and share my favorite moments! 

This week was Red Ribbon Week at school. Each day, the girls had a theme for dressing up. Monday was "wear red & hearts". Meggie picked out her red skirt, and her "smile" heart shirt.  I found her on the playground having a fabulous day! 

Since the big girls had dress up days, I made sure that Adalyn was able to wear all the Halloween! For some reason every year, Red Ribbon week coincides with the week that we try to wear Halloween clothes, and the big girls never get to wear anything. I'm seriously contemplating letting them wear all of their Halloween next week, even though Halloween will be over. 

Adalyn did not want to cooperated and take her picture, but seriously, she still looked cute! 

Her dress is Jelly the Pug brand, and it's the same dress she had last year. I'm so glad we were able to get at least two years of wear out of this dress! 

She was much more cooperative when daddy was in the picture! 

So, this came across my facebook this week, and I laughed out loud. Seriously, I love having jeans day at school. Every Monday and Friday, we're able to wear jeans, and I really do feel like I can work better when I'm comfortable! 

But, what's better than a jeans day?????

Pajama day. 

Gretchen was able to wear her Halloween costume to Musical Theater this week. She decided to be a "pioneer" this year. We bought her dress from Old Navy, because it's super adorable, and she said that it reminded her of what a pioneer would wear, and then we added my great-grandmother's apron on top. 

Getting pictures from Addy's preschool teacher is a favorite! This week, she painted a paper bag pumpkin. 

Thursday morning I had a staff meeting so the girls played in my office before school. Megan drew a picture for me on my white-board. How hilarious is the hair she drew?!

Megan's kindergarten teacher is our favorite! We had "everyone counts" day and were asked to wear our favorite team jersey or outfit. Megan hold told her teacher she was going to wear her cheerleading outfit, so her teacher wore a Hurricane shirt too! Seriously, her teacher is just the sweetest! 

Okay, so for some fun stuff! I have a friend that I grew up with that makes the most adorable earrings! I recently ordered a Halloween set for the girls and once they came in, I knew I had to share them with y'all! 

These would be super adorable stocking stuffers for Christmas, or a precious gift for a niece or granddaughter.
